We had something like a 50% participation rate for the chicks while the number for guys is probably about a tenth of that.

I don't think even a tenth.

I mean we really do have around 1750+ guys.

I think we've had maybe a collective 3-4 women sneak under the radar so to speak.

I've got a question. Out of those 1800 guys on the board, how many are active members right now?

I'm pretty sure the last time this concept was brought up, the contest didn't even involve toplessness and it still went nowhere.

Some of the females taking place in the Miss SD.Net poll were not even members. I think Aerius even wrote in Chantal Krevaziuk as a candidate

Active in what fashion?

I mean literally the top 200 are the most active with the next hundred being sometimes, and a good many ranging from once in a whiles to a few new people.

Out of it...I'd give around probably 300-400 with about 100 or so who come in at odd intervals.

Except that the Miss SDnet contest didn't involve bared chests, whereas the Adonis contest did; and I can assure you nobody here wants to see me topless.

i was gonna post for the adonis award but i wanted to save myself the embarassment of showing my manboobs to 100's of complete strangers. My ego couldn't take a zero votes score.

I however do recommend a Sharp Dressed Man contest.

I mean that they post regularly. It seems like all the Adonis contestants are reasonably regular posters.

If we assume 500 male posters as the amount that could have responded to the post, then participation was just a shade over 1 out of 10.

Technically speaking there is no difference since both are legal in Canada, going around topless in public that is. However, let me put it to you another way, which picture would you be more willing to post on this board, a topless one of your brother or a topless photo of your wife?
Since my brother goes around topless in public all the time, that's easy. But I wouldn't have a problem with posting a topless picture of my wife if she didn't. The real point is that the request is not inherently "crass" just because the genders have been reversed.
I think, if not previously mentioned, that it's the fact women have boobs and men do not. And don't give me the shit that men do. Women have things hanging from their chests that are meant to stimulate a male's mind. In no way whatsoever is it the same. Please, everyone, save me on the 'fairness' arguement. :)

I'm willing to bet some of our guys have boobs... we just don't particularly want to see them.

Which is my point. However, man-boobs are different. When I was a little girl, I was told that they were private parts and strangers weren't to touch them. Mommy didn't say to my brother, "Okay, when you grow grotesquely large and hairy, you'll have boobies. Strangers will shy away from them like the plague."

Besides the only friggin' reason breasts came into this because the Adonis contest asked for men to show their chests. Not their privates. Real boobs, contrarily to popular belief, are privates (yes, I agree with my mother). And it's audacious for someone to make an argument that we're not being fair because we won't show them to our wanking community.

I'm sure most are kidding with the argument. But I had to say it to the hopefulls.

Then again, women are definitely turned on by mens' bare chests, which is why every Harlequin romance novel features a bare-chested man. Rebecca says that a broad chest has always been an absolute redline requirement for her.

I don't think anyone's attacking you; I brought it up to defend our behaviour.

And this is why I made that third category. Which nobody seems to have payed any attention to. But I did make it, dad burn it!

I left in the first two because I am just foolishly optimistic and hopeful. :D

I doubt it. She's a musician, and AFAIK, he doesn't actually know her apart from talking to her at an album signing once.

That and he has sex with her every night. Pity she doesn't show up to participate in it.

Yeah, but the rules as of that post did not exclude non-SD.net females. That was later corrected.

One question: is there a general reluctance among the females to post clear, large pictures because they're concerned that some weirdo will start becoming obsessive? Or do they not want to for other reasons? I'm just curious.

My sophomore year of college I had an internet stalker who turned into a real-life stalker (who was arrested after four months). Add that to a poor self-image, and you get someone very reluctant to post pictures on a public webboard.

It depends on each woman, but yes, the fear of gathering a new stalker that we don't need is the largest concern.
