Really? I don't call having a scattered empire and sitting next to the most dangerous sith power particularly comfortable. And judging from your OOB, you can't seem to wait to disturb my niche as well. Why is everybody picking on me? :P
The HoloNet thing I found particularly interesting.
Thanks. Any interest in it?

The baas resupply station is not allowed anymore - it is a typo in the shiplist. All resupply stations cost 6 points.

As you can see, I am currently going through the shiplist and updating it.

The Concordat alliance is currently inactive as Coyote is busy with RL issues.

Though I love your style. Telling the galaxy to just fork over cash and characterizing the Core alliance as a second empire.....oh boy, Gaeriel is going to go through the roof. Great story post.

The Star Dreadnoughts have been posted. Lots of changes there.

This concludes the standard shiplist. Next in need of update: Stations, irregular ships like custom corvettes and fighters.

... and your demands were so very reasonable, too. I must admit I'd prefer some frothing Sith fanatics as a main enemy than you pleasant fellows, but you eat the pie you're given, not the pie you want, eh?

Come to think of it, any local frothing Sith would just LOVE us getting into a tussle.

Well, if you really want to get into a war, that is your choice. But I think you should at least agree to a cessation of hostilities in the status quo. Otherwise, your stay will most likely be a very short one. I'll have my ambassador make a final argument that way.

I don't especially, but I can hardly role-play it any other way. What sort of Galactic Republic would just *ignore* Imperial control of Coruscant?

Thankfully, I'm a marvellously accomplished tactician, and any scuffle will be over before Christmas. Tally ho!

The sort of galactic republic that would rather survive and that currently is not engaged in national suicide? I mean, no other republic faction has any trouble with this.

EDIT: Oops. Anyway, I meant to say that, yes the war would be over by Christmas, but CORE stormtroopers would be opening presents in your capitol city. Just saying. :D

Thirdfain, your leaders have to be pretty brain dead to not realize the hopelessnes of their situation.

Hopelessness? If you intend on mobilizing the CORE alliance the day after it's founding to pursue a war of aggression against an opponent who has been at (on paper) war with you for some *twenty years* and is not, in fact, actually engaged in any fighting, and shows no actual signs of mobilizing for fighting, then be my guest.

Simply put, why would the Imperial factions all come after us at once now? They haven't in the past, and have mostly ignored Sullust. The leadership is assuming you've got bigger fish to fry.

I suppose I just don't buy the whole Rebel Alliance quitting on the whole "re-establishing the Republic" thing. They kept at it for too long to quit after just another warlord conflict. You see this as an engagement between a bevy of successor, essentially independent, nation-states. My boys see it as the Galactic Civil War.

This may not be a great move on their part...

Because you are effectively declaring war. And because you have declared our eradication as the main goal of your politic. And because your secretary of state comes off as a fanatic.

Okay, another diplomatic appeal coming. Let's hope this one works, I have no desire for war at this point.

But if Thirdfain wants it to be that way, so be it.

Okay, I am calmer now.

Here's the deal.

Fact is, when the game began, everybody was at peace with another. We may scheme with each other and engage in skirmishes etc, but we did not just outright declare war at each other. Now, my ambassador arrives, is perfectly civil and then gets pelted not only with a declaration of war, but with demands for surrender and a demand for extradition of nation leaders. When a war would be hopeless. That is national suicide. The Remnant is not pursuing an aggressive policy against anyone (okay, we have the sith, true, but we do not actually build aggressive alliances against them). Your leaders have to realize that they cannot change the strategic situation overnight. The smart thing to do is to sign a peace treaty, built alliances, then try again.

Not respond aggressively to even the slightest offer of a treaty.

Just a heads up the envoy's I sent out are there to do little more then say "Hi we the Golden Republic exist, we're friendly and my bosses want to know if you're willing to receive an Ambassador."

So no need to give them more then a small line acknowledging their arrival and that you informed them of your willingness to receive an ambassador. Once I've sent an actual ambassador I'll write an appropriately grandiose scene for his arrival. :P

Thanas wrote: Fact is, when the game began, everybody was at peace with another.
Perhaps, but when I joined that ceased to be the case. It's sort of your fiat that it's a state of general peace- why is it so hard to imagine Republic forces which still consider the Galactic Civil War to be going on?
We may scheme with each other and engage in skirmishes etc,
That's more or less what I intend on doing; an uncompromising, highly populist anti-Imperial stance is part of that scheming.
but we did not just outright declare war at each other. Now, my ambassador arrives, is perfectly civil and then gets pelted not only with a declaration of war,
More accurately, an assertion that there was never a declaration of *peace*.
but with demands for surrender and a demand for extradition of nation leaders.
Well, yeah. My goals are no more or less fanatical than those displayed by the Rebel Alliance through 3 movies and a decade of EU material.
When a war would be hopeless. That is national suicide.
There is no tradition finer among revolutionaries and idealists than the impossible struggle!
The Remnant is not pursuing an aggressive policy against anyone (okay, we have the sith, true, but we do not actually build aggressive alliances against them).
This is certainly true, the Imperial Remnant are an entirely reasonable, non-brutal, normal society which has been quite peaceful and progressive. But then, that's always been the prerogative of those who are already on top!
Your leaders have to realize that they cannot change the strategic situation overnight.
Both my in-character leaders and I myself realize this. Perhaps my almost absurdly provocative stance so far is... purposeful?
The smart thing to do is to sign a peace treaty, built alliances, then try again.
That has been your (highly successful!) plan so far. My position, I believe, requires a different approach. Time will tell, my friend, if it is the correct one!
