Hopefully without the Peculiar Institution from the Etherverse version.
It wouldn't really be Pendleton without it now would it? IMHO it would also add some spice to the setting.
Well, yeah, I guess having a beatdown early in the game would be fun.

Yeah, because clubbing someone who can stop time is such a great idea :P

Shepistan, Next Morning

Shep awoke, feeling extra tired... and somehow... odd. He got up, stretched, and contemplated getting out of bed, and either having coffee, or shooting a puppy. He decided first he'd better go to the bathroom, or he'd have an accident.

President Shep stumbled to the bathroom, and opened his robe JEEEZUSFUCKINGCHRISTWHERE'SMYPENIS OHGODNONOOOOOO WHATTHEFUCK..!!!

Elsewhere, Q snickered.

Consider Klavostan on-board for the FTO.

I find it amusing that Shep's first thought of probable perpetrators to unleash such a monstrosity was me, little Shroomy. Aw, Shep! Is that what you think of your Bestest Friend Forever (^____^)? You think I would unleash unspeakable unhuman monstrosities at you that require being burned with fire?

There'd have to be some backstory on why the rest of the world wouldn't turn Pendleton into a pariah due to that "peculiar institution." Major support from one of the unaligned powers? Just not worth the trouble?

Edit: as for bigger oceans and more earth like planet, I say go for it. That would give the navies and strategic airforces something to do.

That works if it's conscious effort that holds time still, as opposed to freezing it and then unfreezing it as distinct acts.

Obviously, she does make a conscious effort to do things, otherwise she wouldn't have to mentally "shut off" guns later on.

I added Frequesue to the map that PeZook made and circled some potential locations for new continents/subcontinents/archipelagoes/groups of island chains (think Micronesia or Melanesia).

And Lonestar, didn't Shep have Q as turning off fire-arms?

Hmm...so he did, which is somewhat different than what was implied in Beowulf's prologue.

Still, there is nothing that implies that Marina doesn't have to make a conscious effort to freeze time.

Sir, I applaud the Japanistani police, in preventing that outrageous moral pollution from infecting Japanistan's youth.

Ah, Damn Shroomanian comic books. I Imagine Japanistan has a thriving black market like other authoritarian regimes, selling to elites if nothing else. The question is, does most of the populace believe in the system and have hope for the future? The answer might tell you just how much corruption there is.

I'd say it would appear from Sea Skimmer's OOB that most people probably are fairly happy with the system, as the government appears to be able to deliver economically. I do bet a lot of school administrators and such receive bribes to let students into the more elite schools though. And the cop in that little story sounds like a total douchebag :P .

That story is in the New Sumatra Special Security Region, which owing to its status as an annexed Co Prosperty Sphere member rather then a part of Japanistan proper (not to mention the lingering insurgency) is treated more harshly then the rest of the country. It’s what real life Korea was to the real Japanese Empire, though its need more closely integrated by this stage then Korea ever was. The plan to Japanistanize Sumatra is three approaches combined, involving settlement of ethnically Japanistani peoples on the islands, economic development to benefit the local population and Japanistani industry alike and military and police eradication of all subversive elements, however trivial they may seem. The Special Armed Police are multi facted and act as an equivalent the ATF/FBI/Gestapo/SWAT all rolled into one mega agency, Japanistan also has the Kempeitai Army military police who patrol the streets around some major military bases and other sensitive areas and handle the most secret of cases.

In mainland Japanistan proper censorship is slightly more relaxed, and standards of living are decent and rising so people don’t have huge reason to complain about how authoritarian the regime is. Obedience to the god emperor is drummed in from birth, and just like real Imperial Japan creation of obedient subjects with ‘approved moral values’ is the first priority of the school system, above general education. But Japanistani school kids are no slouches, they have time for authoritarian indoctrination AND math by simply working really long hours.

Corruption is moderate at low levels, but even members of the National Sunshine Council aren’t beyond bribery from say the bosses of big state owned quasai independent mega corporations. Most criminal punishment is based around relatively short spells (1-10 years) of forced labor followed by supervised work release programs, but corruption is one of several death penalty crimes. Japaistan is also known to use its mental health system against internal dissidents, and always seeks to turn

Large areas of mainland Japanistan are open to foreign visitors, but visa applications aren’t quick and may come with all sorts of restrictions. It’s not hard to get kicked out once you arrive either, and it would take the words of the mortal but still divined Emperor help you if you’re caught engaged in illegal political activities during your visit.

we're not in one, per se. as of this moment klavo isn't on. if you could perhaps PM us your AIM (it's not readily available from your profile, is it?), i could coordinate setting up some kind of southern-Frequesue room, which can then be expanded into the FTO room as a whole.

as an aside, i agree with bigger oceans.

Oh, it happens when I teleport into the room. Yay, my first moderatorial action is to declare Shep's prologue invalid. Jesus christ, Shep managed to get his prologue declared invalid. That's disturbingly fucked-up special, there.

Oh, the time-freeze is automatic; Shep could have kept beating me with the pistol (though I could have thrown him across the room like a fucking rag doll), however. It's the guards bursting in that wasn't kosher.

That said I'm not going to force Shep to retcon it or anything, I just declared it invalid because the irony of Shep managing to get his prologue declared invalid was too much for me to resist.

Some points to make:

1.) Shotgun man. Not Pistol.

2.) How am I supposed to work the "KILL IT WITH FIRE" comment in? Do I have a flamethrower nearby at all times? That's insane, even for me. Having the guards burst in gives me an excuse to bring in heavy weapons.

Silly me, I forgot to come up with names for the two NPC shitholes bordering Coilerburg-until now. The orange one that has the longer border is named Sabika, and the cyan one is named Omago.
