Can someone recomend a good site for making Alumminum? I'm curious exactly what needs to be done to produce enough of it to make a usable Zepplin and or more advanced Airships.

In order to produce high quantities of aluminium at a decent price, you use the Hall-Hèroult process. Of course, before you can engage in that you first need alumina (aluminium oxide). To make that the Bayer process is required.

Though I think you should just build your airships and not worry too much about the materials.

Not dead. Supposing that I haven't yet become an unwanted presence, I should be posting something about Mozambique in a short while.

If I am unwanted, just tell me.

My computer is down for the week, probably till Friday. I won't be able to make any new game posts, though I've updated/improved my original post to fit spending rules, as well as my OOB (again). If folks have anything to discuss with me, I can probably check my PMs here once a day.

When will the next three month turn start?

There's no fixed coorolation between STGOD time and real time. It all depends on events and the common consensus on the passage of time. If a lot of events are occurring, then it goes slowly. If there aren't many events, it goes quickly.

The time frame that's passed hasn't been more than a few weeks at most.

My computer has taken a turn for the worse.
Which troubles me considering it's only about three months old.

Needless to say for a few days I will not be online consistently and may well be beyond reach except by PM.

I finally managed to write some background for my Kingdom of Mozambique. If someone notices some utterly horrible thing in here, please tell me before I write down the actual OOB.

Kingdom of Mozambique.

Mozambique, formerly a Portuguese colony, became a kingdom when Amedeo I, last surviving member of the Italian royal family and king of Spain during a few, terrible months, bought the territory as a personal domain in early 1870. The ultimate goal of Amedeo I was to create a safe haven for the Italian exiles that had been scattered all over Europe as a result of the devastation that France and Austria caused with their armies in northern Italy during the first year of the Great War.

The economical crisis and the mass destruction caused by the conflict, coupled with a great deal of political unrest in the Italian peninsula to shatter its brief period of unity. And then the death of most of the royal family and the Burning of Rome during the bloody anarchist revolts of 1869 were the last straw. Millions of Italians left their homeland, looking for a place without the ghosts of war and starvation looming in the horizon, but such places were rare in a world slowly descending into utter madness.

As a haven, Mozambique left a great deal to be desired, but Amedeo believed that he had inherited more than a worthless throne. He believed that the responsability to protect the Italian people was his, and although he never tried to return to his kingdom -that shortly after Vittorio Emmanuelle's death was divided in half a dozend different "republics"- out of fear, he did everything within his power to alleviate the suffering of his nation. Not an easy task, unfortunately.

The hundreds of thousands of Italians who eventually settled in Mozambique are quite aware of their king's efforts and in return they have spared no efforts in the difficult task of transforming a largely wild land into a modern country. Twenty years of effort haven't been quite as successful as Amedeo would like, but they haven't been exactly fruitless, either. Mozambique is a moderately prosperous nation with a respectable military that hopes to count as another voice among the new powers rising along the shores of the Indian Ocean.

Government:

The members of government are appointed by the King, who retains ultimate and unrestricted executive power. Legislative power, in the other hand, is controlled by the Senate, democratically elected every four years by those citizens with voting rights (Caucasian males over twenty years old), although the King has power to veto laws considered negative for the Kingdom, a rather broad definition that has caused some friction over the years. Fortunately, Amedeo is well-liked by most Senators and a secret covenant has kept certain forbidden topics out of debate for the last twenty years.

Most individual and collective rights (freedom of press, freedom of religion, freedom to own private property, freedom to create political parties...) are respected in Mozambique, but they are not written in any Constitution. The King (and the government) have the power to remove those rights at will, to protect national safety, althought they have never used or abused this power.

Society:

Only Europeans should be counted as citizens of Mozambique and among those, Italians count the most by a long shot. Native tribes are tolerated only if their territories have no interest for the white man and some groups that used to live in the relatively fertile coastal plain have been relocated. Hostile or merely troublesome tribes are militarly defeated and driven from their lands with the help of other tribes, that are rewarded with the territory of those defeated... until the land is needed for "civilized purposes". Despite claims to the contrary, the government isn't interested in genocide and the aging King follows this policy only with a heavy heart, being aware of the cosmic irony of the situation. The slave trade is quite outlawed and mere rumour of abuse of Africans can have extremely severe consequences. In a nutshell, the European population in Mozambique doesn't want to bathe in African blood... they just want those pesky niggers out of the way.

We're all waiting on Thirdfain. Until he answers or appoints a proxy, most of us are stuck waiting around for him. If he doesn't turn up too soon we're pretty much screwed.

Has anyone talked to Thirdfain? He's been gone for a while now and this game is going to die if there's not some action soon.

Is there any chance we can, as a group, decide a resolution for this snarl simply so we can move on?

Has anyone ever taken over a SD game if the original creator leaves?

Yeah. And we've had games run on while the prime moderator was gone. It'll work.

The bigger problem is that Thirdfain's actions have stalled things. A lot of us can't really do anything until the issues of Seram is resolved. But we can't resolve it until Thirdfain starts posting or it's solved by other means.

I agree with Stormbringer; if worse comes to worse I can control Portugal for a bit to resolve the current issue. I'd really rather not do that since I don't know what Thirdfain's goals are for the confrontation and I don't like the idea in general, but if that's how it has to be that's how it will be. (I wouldn't just arbitrarily do stuff, I'd talk to other players, anyway.)

I could go invade something. :P

Also, I've seen Thirdfain on AIM since yesterday but he is unresponsive. It might be that AIM is logged in as him in a library or friend's computer and he is unaware of this.

I'm here. Apologies for absence, I didn't have a fun month. Let me bolt together a working OOB and things and I'll see what I can do.

Wow Vanas! Welcome (hopefully) back!!!

Theres actually not a lot to catch up on, mostly a few deals that may have to be renegotiated if you return, but will make things really interesting... A shame to hear about your crappy month :/ I do hope your ok now!

As for the rest of the game.. It seems to me that not 'everyone' needs to sit around twiddeling their thumbs as it where... Between Sir Nit, Captain Chewy, Raesen, Pablo, and the others in the Westren regions, I would imagine there should be more posting...

On Thirdfain... I remember him stating he was running the whole game from the Libaray or his friends computer... If anything happend to boot him out, he may be screwed for some time,

Well, I'm in there, too, as we were getting into a mutual agreement, including Thirdfain's interests in the area.

Does anyone know how much our 'points' go up each turn? I decided to do a 'budget' for next turn, but its based on only 400pts.. IIRC, we should get more each turn, yes?

You get more if you reinvested in the previous turn.

I'm still holding out hope, but in all likelyhood yes, it is dead.
