Your fleet seems to have gotten to the Moluccas rather fast, TF. And with remarkably little on how they got there.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

It's been WEEKS, real life. How long am I supposed to wait? I'm trying to get the game moving.Your fleet seems to have gotten to the Moluccas rather fast, TF. And with remarkably little on how they got there.
It's not in his nation map, and is in fact closer to the Shogunate. Distant colonies are hardly rare, are they? Never mind the fact I posted the expenditure of significant resources for this endeavour earlier in the thread. 35 points total, the cost of a small cruiser, plus the movement of nine warships.I'd really like to know that as well, also why an island, that by all rights is closer to belong to A-wing slash, requires Third to sail around the world to get to.
A week. I was expecting something about moving through, say the Straits of Malacca. You went from preparing to move, to being there.Thirdfain wrote:It's been WEEKS, real life. This STGOD is at what, 15 posts after being open for 8 days?Beowulf wrote: A week. I was expecting something about moving through, say the Straits of Malacca. You went from preparing to move, to being there.
*shrug* Every STGOD in history has had plentiful pirate shooting. However, posts on the topic generally serve to say "Look at my pretty military hardware! displaying it in this fashion is much less risky or useful than actually going out and advancing my nation's interests."Crossroads Inc. wrote:Oh gee, im sorry but given our location "shooting at pirates"
I've noticed.iws kinda an important thing. You have any idea just how many islands there are around us
Of course you'd notice. I do believe I stated the destination of these vessels in my first post? No-one challenged their destination at that point...Imagine it from a diplomatic standpoint. Don't you think it would send the wrong message to suddenly appeaqr with warships off the coast of a nation?
As I pointed out in another point, you showing up with warships in the Strait of Malacca, which is kinda narrow, was exactly that.Crossroads Inc. wrote: Imagine it from a diplomatic standpoint. Just be advised that people tend to be really irritated if you start shooting at things in their waters. They might shoot back.Crossroads Inc. wrote:No worries Dahak... I'm itching to post a large reply in the main thread, but am at work right now and don't have the time for something nice and indepth...
As for what I did, with Vanas gone I felt sombody need to move through the strights between maylasia.
all I wanted was an island near the mouth to serve as a future port. Given just how many islands there are, its not something I could use to block the strights, but just keep an eye on things.
And in truth I would contact you well ahead of time if I ever wished to pass close to your area.
I didn't say you were. Just discouraging to do anything the like in the Sunda Strait, for instance. A shooting incident between our nations would be a bit untoward, wouldn't it?Crossroads Inc. wrote:Thanks, but im not really in 'your' watters. Your directly below me, between A-wing and where Vanas was.
The strigths of Malacca are above Vanas between the tip of Mayalasia, on the western side of me...
I agree with you. Hell, STGOD1 had it's first shooting war in less time than this STGOD hs been open. That got the game going really good. Part of the problem for me in playing a semi-isolationist power is that I can't do something incredibly bellicose like blowing away a space station full of embassadors or jumping a weaker power. Instead I have to just do my best.Thirdfain wrote:*shrug* Every STGOD in history has had plentiful pirate shooting. However, I suppose we've got to start the game somehow, ne?
I don't see a hard destination any where in your post. The East Indies but not really any thing more informative than that.Thirdfain wrote:Of course you'd notice. I do believe I stated the destination of these vessels in my first post? No-one challenged their destination at that point...
I'm about the last guy that's going to argue (for obvious reasons) and most of my navy is actually deployed near the homeland except for exercises and coastal patrols. I'm not really likely to have units deployed a 100 or more miles from my home waters.Crossroads Inc. wrote:More then that, as Beowulf stated, you basically appeared without any informing anyone of your movements. Between Dahak, me, Stormbrining and A-wing, we have patrol boats all OVER that area. You'd have to sail by one of us eventually. Sure it's not an invasion, and not an overly large force, but you'd still make your presance known 'en-route' not after you arrive...
considering that Thirdfain 'controls' the NPC nations, im more worried about pissing him offAdrian Laguna wrote:I think it might be amusing if Crossrodia pissed-off Siam.
I don't intend on using the NPC nations in an aggressive fashion at all.Crossroads Inc. wrote:considering that Thirdfain 'controls' the NPC nations, im more worried about pissing him offAdrian Laguna wrote:I think it might be amusing if Crossrodia pissed-off Siam.
I'm not interested in being a game mod, for obvious reasons.Thirdfain wrote:I don't intend on using the NPC nations in an aggressive fashion at all.
Actually, this brings me to an idea...
I would like 2 extra mods in this game. I can't mod myself; we need multiple mods if this is going to work.
Would anyone be interested in the position?

But if you're looking for some one to run one of the NPC nations, I'd be more than happy to volunteer.
Sounds like a good idea. My one thought would be to have at least something of an established national character for them. Because a Siam with a monarch walking on eggshells would be different from a Nippon trying to conquer China which would be different than an agressive Muslim Khaliphate. It would also allow players to have some reference to these other nations and so they could act accordingly.Thirdfain wrote: My thoughts on NPCs:
They will only be activated if concensus is reached among the mods that they should be used aggressively, and in that case, a neutral party will be given temporary duties as "leader" of the NPC.
