This is why my father should have gone with his original plan to name me Telzey, gender issues be damned. A name like that never gets on any do-not-fly lists.

True. There are at least 100 people named David Wong in the US according to peoplesearch.com
What probably happened is they read Mike's description of David as a baby.

He gets into trouble. He destroys things (big things; he took out a 27" TV set at the age of 2½!). He drives his brother crazy. He's demanding, headstrong, and stubborn ... (sniff, sniff) he's a chip off the old block!

There's probably thousands of David Wongs. I think I had one in High School as well (and I didn't go to a school with a lot of Asians). If they're barring specifically all David Wongs from Canada, that's still probably a lot of people going to get held up.
My father travels infrequently by air for business, perhaps 3-4 times a year. Several years ago he was taken aside by security and questioned at the airport. He was then questioned every time he flew for the next year or so, delayed for as much as an hour, or more. His bags loaded into the luggage compartment have been opened (and decorated with an official "your bag has been opened and searched" label). The last time my parents flew together, my mother was searched, but my father was ignored. All of this was for domestic flights in the United States. Neither of them has as much as a speeding ticket, but perhaps our surname ("Guerra") is a bit frightening to DHS.
Within the context of trying to avoid it there really seems like there is little you can do. There was a story I heard recently of someone being stopped because she followed all the rules the agencies recommend to avoid being stopped. In other words, she was flagged because she did everything "too well". There is no winning with these people. And it forever startles me how easy it is for people to willingly give up their freedoms for the perception of what is really a very false safety.
Are you sure he doesn't have an altar ego named Stewie Griffen....
You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong
