The following now sails to Frequesque at 30 kph (16 knots). In two weeks time - ie next real day - it will be there.

Since the PRSF no longer has a Navy, and the junta is barely capable of controlling it's airforce as well, this force has nothing to fear from the PRSF, and it's size is technically more than the PRSF's entire professional force (- 8000 men).

While we're at it, I have informed no one officially about this expedition, so you can only rely on satellite photography (if you have any) or aerial recon.

The force is accompanied by 3 Tu-142M3 (Bear-F) armed with "Yakhont" missiles, which are conducting aerial recon along the way.

This battlegroup was assembled from the Northern Fleet (NFBG-1) - the Eastern Fleet Battlegroup (EFBG-1) is now around 1000 miles off Frequesque and will possibly return to the area.

Hooooooly shit.

Say, when could you give us a Western force-chart thing? I'd love to put together images like these for my own stuff.

You specified you have a cohort (about 640 soldiers) on site. The stated number of vehicles being sent would be sufficient to carry them and a small number of researchers. In addition the majority will probably be used to support the camp directly as well as provide extras in case of loss or downtime for repair.

If you still request it I'll edit the post to reduce the number to 1 battalion.

Jesus, Shady...

Is NOD that incompetent? You had an intelligence officer staked out and instead of trailing him and trying to smoke out his source, you murder him? What good does that bring the FUN?

Now they will bring in somebody completely unknown to us to handle the operation, and all we know is that they stole the Buzzkill designs (which, BTW, is just an upgraded P-800 :D )

It would've been far, far better to let them have the plans, and use the guy to feed disinformation to Indophal. Hell, Shroomanians could've easily arrested him, since consuls don't actually have diplomatic immunity from criminal prosecution.

Not to mention, Baylor is gonna be pissed by NOD running an intel operation on Shroomanian soil, without consulting it with him first :P

Note that the Vinish cannot unlitaterally seize the Kilos and the Slava and Soveremenny--under international law they're just indefinitely interred. The aircraft, on the other hand, aren't covered in international law, so seize and integrate them to your heart's content, those people who got some.

Japanistan might kick some funding towards it, so that it can learn all the secrets of the command and control system and thus order the satellites to simply turn themselves off in wartime… provided I can find room in the budget.

Great. Well, considering the way Beowulf manhandled the retreating PRSF military and then waved his dick Versailles-style, I'm thinking the CSR might be the lesser of two evils after all. Which is saying quite a bit.

I move the FTO switches to a containment policy concerning Westchester/Tian Jiao and the PRSF. Let Beowulf and Stas dick each other over to their heart's content; I'm not really willing to waste any more resources on this clusterfuck of a situation.

That will surely screw FTO altogether, and reduce their usefulness to less than even a paper tiger.

Hehe, well that goes a mite too far... I'm not going to bail out of the FTO, but a strategic alliance or a joint venture concerning key areas of mutual interest would certainly be an option as far as we're concerned.

So far I've only listed armament for my Tu-160M.

Lists plane-fitted missile types, including the rather heavy ones, as well as other munitions of various destination.

Holy shit, people.

I am running calculation for what we'll need to get to the Moon and back. The place is tiny, so the entire lunar lander, capable of supporting two men for 3 days, will only weight 5317 kilograms (that's almost three times less than the historical LM!), assuming we install engines equally as powerful as the original.

The original CSM weighed 30 tonnes: 18 tonnes of that was the fuel. But it had to brake with the original 15-tonne LM attached, and then get away from our large moon's gravity. The total delta-v of the original CSM was 2880 m/s ; Ours will have to do more work to enter lunar orbit, but far less to get out of it. I assumed 3x the escape velocity of our moon (310 meter/s) just to be safe.

That gives us a total mass of the CSM at 9179 kilograms (assuming it's identical to the Apollo). Three times less than the original.

So the CSM-LM stack we need to propel to TLI weighs 14 496 kilograms.

That in turn gives us the last stage (the one which injects the CSM into a lunar trajectory) mass of 72 985 kilograms (our Earth isn't as nice as our widdle moon, unfortunately, which means TLI velocities are nearly the same - still, that's nearly 50 tonnes of payload less we have to bring to LEO!).

We'll need what, around 1300 tonnes of rocket to haul that much to orbit? The Space Shuttle does nearly 100 tonnes to LEO weighing 2000 tonnes itself.

Or we can build the giant fuck-off Saturn V and go wild with adding goodies to the spacecraft :D

PeZook, What did you use to calculate all that?

As for the plan, it might be good to note that Japanistan is imposing a lot of restrictions on what we can launch. We might not be able to launch a Saturn V, even from Camona given Shroom's proximity to Japanistan.

Nice to see our trip to the moon is going to be a cakewalk :).

PS: Can I assume that San Dorado's collaboration in the FASTA project will mean that schematics etc. will be available to us? Because those would really help our own space program (which right now is stuck with Redstone/Shahab knockoffs).

Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:PeZook, What did you use to calculate all that?
Well...

I used the original Apollo hardware for the dry mass, transformed the rocket equation to spit out the initial rocket mass, estimated the required delta-v for all vehicles, made an Excel file, and then calculated backwards from the lunar lander for every hardware part.

This is all an estimate, of course. I'll assume the Very Smart People (TM) working for FASTA can figure out the real thing :P

Why? We just let Japanistanis inspect the spacecraft, as per the agreement. We won't be able to camouflage a warhead or spy sat as a space capsule, after all, and no ICBM is going to weigh 1500 tonnes :D

Well, the FASTA is not a design bureau, they just contract companies to build rockets for them, but there are some people it employs who could help you design your own rockets, and certainly experience at command, control, etc. is open to everybody.

Uhm why exactly do you want to use the Japanistani launch areas in the first place? Just curious mind you, but they don't seem to be right on the equator.
