I've decided to set up a Google Docs spreadsheet for ISCA budgeting and shipyard order management.

You can view it Here

If anybody has a google account, we can actually discuss the document online :D

I have an account. Let's discuss.

Coyote has 10 orders for the ACV.

I'm asking what RogueIce thinks of ordering 30 :D

Why not use White Sands? Nothing says we can put International Observers in there to monitor all international launches after all. But of course those will be bribed.

Well we see the OMSK/Fugal Axis alliance sinking billions into my space industry at present, I don't see the need for a second free launch island, I do have an island as well which I could ceed to the world, Skull island.

Well, if the MESS is uncomfortable with doing their launches in OMSK territory, Shroomania has lots of islands to spare. Lots!

Just pick one, we'll call it SHADOW MOSES (or INNER NOAH).

EDIT:

There IS a splotch of green Shroomanian territory right above Shinra - if the MESS wants that, we could lend it to you.

EDIT:

Mang! thanks for the mail!

Hey, this eases things up.

It's only for LEOSats to remain neutral though, rememer. All other spatial launches: manned LEO, unmanned MEO (GPS, nav, etc) and GEO (comm) will run teir course in other cosmodromes.

Somehow I think we need to rename that island, however it is large, it is in fact larger than some Dutchy's In fact I'm pretty sure it's close to 3000 Square KM's. Which is plenty of room for space facilities.

it's WAY larger than Duchies, on the world map it's like halfway between Duchy and Principality.

You sure are generous; we will therefre declare the island neutral zone? So big, it could serve well for diplomatic and spatial neutral missions both.

I guess Neutrality pPoint is then scrapped. :( was fun though

I'm all for it, the question is if the Mess will go for it, but more to the point it's to save money on "Neutral point", why build artificial land when we have land out the eyes sitting around waiting to be used?

Why spend on Skull Island when OUTER HAVEN is already there?

EDIT:

Wait... Skull Island is a Neutrality Point or a launch facility?

Don't we have St. George as a gracious neutral host country as well?

well sure.

I believe it's time to call the Red Phone and ask Rogue to meet me at Neutrality one last time before we progress to a new and better plan :)

Actually cool

[Rogue: Shroomania is offering more than just 3 FCSs, actually 30 since I underestimated some stuff!]

St. George's was used for the 1st Grand Conference (Law of the Sea, Bioweapons Ban) due to lack of other places.

The Mess was not attending 1st GC, mostly.

Neutrality Point was later created, assuming that for some people sovereing territories might not be comfortable enough to step on (indeed; for example Tithonus is exiled and no longer a leader; however, if he were a rebel leader say in Syndromia, he could've hardly moved to St-Georges and feel safe.

The idea is to scrap Neutrality Point and instead create a Neutral Zone from Skull Island, where both N.S.C. and a Conference Complex be established.

Kill two hares with one blast.

P.S. In the evening I'll get up to date on events with PRAVDA :)

Cool. The King of Canissia will be there, and I support the Sovereign Island initiative for both a UN type place and a ILF (International Launch Facility).

The newest version of the ISCA annual budget has been published.

As you can see, the ISCA will make 366 million in FY2009 out of current ship orders.

These profits will be distributed amongst R&D projects, investment and as dividends to member states. Once the final budget for FY2009 is validated, I will make a post in the main thread calling for an approval vote of all member states.

I'm still wondering if I didn't underestimate production times, but I won't revise that - it would introduce too much hooplah, and besides - it's not that much of a realistic game anyway.

I mean...we've got Q.

Q can't mess though :) the best thing about this game is that rules are made by national consent ;)

Heh :D

Yeah, listen...those construction times are nagging the hell out of me, and I can't find anything regarding construction of freighters.

So, an open question to everybody: What is a reasonable time to construct a 15 000 DWT freighter?

I know that in WWII they made Liberty Ships in 27 days, buy we're kind beyond that now :D

one year is fine for Handysize ships which those are. I know that stuff. Could give examples: Handysize bulker for Beaufort Shipping Ltd built in Russia in Volgograd was built for less than 1 year (it was smaller DWT, but it took just around 9 months). The construction contract was made in Aug 2006, laid somewhere around January, commis. in November. That's a - admiteedly experienced - but not too big a private company. Not even the Russian government - and you have a huge international company overseeing it, so you'd be making them at least as fast.

Or lookie here:
http://www.meb.com.ua/dry/BC14.html

That's a 20,000 DWT specialized cargo ship (but not too different from a common bulker)

P.S. Soviet engineering comany websites for the win. Found this off "Red Sormovo" and then the Ukrainian "Marine Engineering Burea"

Hmm...awesome! Thanks.

Looks I overestimated our production capacity. Oh, well - we'll get it right eventually :P

How much of a ship's production can be automated, like a car assembly line?

Coyote wrote:How much of a ship's production can be automated, like a car assembly line?
Not much, the issue is SIZE, ships a big damn things so you can't automat it simply because there's no place to put the machines, your talking about building a multi-story building in essence. Until we have R2 units that can roll around(Or more likely descend from tracks in the ceiling) robot's are not that useful in large ship construction.

*Edit what could be heavily automated is the part construction, but ship construction requires large amounts of skilled dock-waters.

Dudes, Baerne reminded me that a while back(in the main thread) i constructed a large number of shipyards. We can use those shipyards for the construction of our new ships. If PeZook would tell me how much does my empire have to invest in this project, i believe we could get some production going.

Also i was wondering, does our GDP increase every year? I mean if our economies are prospering and we begin to export stuff. How exactly will this work?

Yearly update, that's how GDP's work
