Guess what game I bought with the Steam winter sale?
Granted, I'm currently playing UA: Age of Sail. Did the British campaign to learn the game and now playing the far harder American one, where reputation costs are more widespread and the missions are in theory more challenging.
While you get to craft some choices for your characterbackground they clearly modeled the UK and US admirals off Horatio Nelson and John Paul Jones, IMHO.
And UG: American Revolution is the same just with Washington and Howe.
But I have been tinkering with UA: D a bit (Tex of the Black Pants Legion just started a Spain playthrough and reminded me I did want to play with it), no abominations yet since I'm just doing the tutorials and getting a feel for things, but we'll see what silliness I do. Maybe a UA:D version of the
CRS Warrior from this thread shall be possible...

If you do build a US version of CRS
Warrior, I call dibs on a) commanding her and b) writing her inevitable eulogy

Haven't been able to quite do that one yet due to how the game's design system works. This is the closest I can manage at my current point in my current first playthrough.

Alas.
Anyway, here she is against her usual foes from the prior game, the Kriegsmarine.

Not a fan but they give increased long range accuracy, which makes the big guns hit more often, so on they go.
Though I'm now into the 1910s and the first superdreadnoughts are coming online, with non-cage towers.

Just laid
North Dakota as my first 40kton super, four double 15" guns. And my
Dauntless-class battlecruisers, 30ktons, 28 knots and three triple 12" turrets with several double 6" secondaries. (She is, after all, a
battlecruiser, and I fully intend to use her to murderize cruisers).
(This game's a bit less forgiving about the weights, plus stuff like the towers and funnels and barbettes are items you have to put on and count towards tonnage too..)
Still beating Germany's face in, theirr fleet's mostly wrecked. Japan's gone, I took most of it while China got Kyushu and Britain has northern Hokkaid. China, France, and the UK are the powers above me, though China probably just from sheer quantity of light hulls and CAs. Mighht build a new generation of light cruisers with 4-5" guns exclusively to murderize their torpedo boat swarm.

A vast swarm of cruisers sounds like just the thing for your Dauntlesses to murderise.

So guess what I acquired?
That's right, I've got RTW3. Alas, custom country modding is
much harder so a repeat of this LP is unlikely, unless I figure it out. But in the meantime, I'm in the 20s, it's time for carriers. And EF will be happy to hear that the
Warrior lives once more and is living up to her namesake.
He'll be substantially less happy to hear that it's the Royal Navy that tends to wind up on the receiving end of her 12 and 10"ers.

My current campaign has essentially turned the US into a member of the Central Powers, alliances with Germany and Austria and now two wars with Britain.
Warrior and her sister
Avenger have been the stars so far, with something like three BCs sunk in their careers. I'm considering converting them into CVs once the current war is over.
(Also as a note,
Huron and her sisters were my last class of armored cruiser, so I picked them for conversion when I unlocked the initial conversions to CVLs).

I am delighted that Warrior lives. As predicted, I am also dismayed at her choice of targets. Booo!

She's not going to have the glorious death of her counterpart. Or maybe not.
Anyway, the game now tracks a ship's history. Copying-and-pasting from the in-game interface (which has a handy button for it).

HMS Invincible took 36 main battery hits...and didn't explode? Impressive.

It seems there was nothing wrong with your bloody ships that day.

True. And in fairness, the real HMS
Tiger took almost that many hits at Jutland and kept on fighting, but she did have much better armour and actually had safe ammo handling practices.

It's the 1950s, and the True Order is restored: the US and UK are allies against Fascist Germany. Just finished a war with a negotiated peace, Germany is now bereft of all her colonial holdings and the US is holding Norway.
Which is great for the next war when it comes because the British weren't using medium bombers and with no night fighters researched yet (ugh) I couldn't maintain night CAPs and took some hits from German land-based aviation in Norway. That said, I won all three major engagements, not much done in sinkings but wrecking the Germaan fleet repeatedly to maintain the blockade.
