They are? The only time we see them resisting poison is in TMP and there it was more a case of them holding their breath than some sort of intrinsic anti-poison force power. There's also evidence against it in Dooku Captured where they see fit to switch out their spiked drinks instead of relying on any immunity.
People at birth are naturally good. Their natures are similar, but their habits make them different from each other.

Actually in Dooku's case, there is at least one EU instance of using the Force to heal himself after his fall. IIRC, it is during that Jango Fett comic when Dooku hires the guy to serve as the genetic donor for the clone army. Since Dooku led the Jedi task force that killed everyone in Jango's old mercenary outfit, Fett releases during the interview some kind of disease from his homeworld that was supposed to destroy Dooku's brain. Dooku then goes and heals himself, which impresses Jango so much that he accepts the job offer in exchange for a chance to kill some Jedi.Metahive wrote:They are? Wow, Oppress is pretty impressive. Just saw the newest episode and he took a blaster bolt to the chest and kept on going.

Was he wearing armor of any kind? How was the rest of the episode quality-wise?

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
He had armor but if there was anything special about it the Nightsisters would've mentioned it, since they specifically made mention that Oppress' glaive had magic properties. However, the Darkside Sorcery probably has a lot to do with it, Sith Alchemy (from which the Nightsister's abilities are probably similar or derived from) can be used to give a subject almost supernatural durability as well as making the subject more susceptible to a Darksider's force suggestions. He's extremely strong even before the Darkside sorcery of the Nightsisters, as we see him shatter stone masonry with his fist. And he's not much worse in terms of martial skill than Asajj.Srelex wrote:Was he wearing armor of any kind? How was the rest of the episode quality-wise?
As for the rest of the episode it's mixed. On the canon side of things they haven't said that the Iridonians on Dathomir are colonists. It gets even more muddled when Mother Tausin keeps referring to them as 'The Males' and the two groups refer to each others as brothers and sisters. The Iridonians also all have Maul's Sith tattoos.
On the story front it's pretty good, nice pacing, good fights, we get to see someone impaled by a spear. It was really fun to watch and I kept worrying that the episode was going to end before I got to see more. And the ending is pretty good at demonstrating how nasty Savage is, he likes to choke people, except unlike Vader he does it with his bare hand.

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
This episode, and the previous one in the arc, were major steps up from almost all of Season 3, and have probably been among the better ones overall. The fight scenes are well animated, and I thought the music was fantastic. My only real complaint is that the lighting made things hard to keep track of sometimes.Srelex wrote:Was he wearing armor of any kind? How was the rest of the episode quality-wise?
As for taking a blaster bolt to the chest, it's possible that he absorbed it; it's a demonstrated Force ability, and Savage is Force-Sensitive.

We only know he's Force-sensitive because the Nightsisters tell us he is and Dooku can at least sense it enough to train him. He's yet to show any really apparent Force powers, unless the intent for the "see what can't be seen" test is that it was Force enhancement.Talhe wrote:As for taking a blaster bolt to the chest, it's possible that he absorbed it; it's a demonstrated Force ability, and Savage is Force-Sensitive.
It could be an unconscious use, but there's an equal amount of evidence that there's a teapot floating around Neptune.

Nearly all of the episode was a waste of time. The tests scene sorta gives us a look at Savage's personality (he's apparently full of anger and hate, which naturally complements his protectiveness of random Zabrak #2) and shows us he's good at punching people.... I guess.
Oh wait, magic witch spell. Now he's a brainless killing machine.
Why didn't the witches just kill Dooku when he came knocking at their front door?
Anyway, story aside, lots of action. I wasn't bored, so there's that.

I think the bolt really was absorbed by the armor, as it does not show much penetration.

There's really no reason to believe that the witches spell is the be all and end all of his character development and he's just going to be some mindless idiot with no real personality. We've seen in preview clips from later episodes that's not the case (i.e. when Dooku is training him).Nearly all of the episode was a waste of time. Well this is certainly some surprisingly delightful news. Liam Neeson is going to voice Qui-Gon in The Clone Wars.

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
The final fight was mostly good, but I have some complaints:
1. Why can't Oppress figure out blocking Force Lightning with his lightsabre?
2: Oppress seemed overpowered. He was tossing Kenobi, Anakin, and Dooku around like ragdolls, and seemed to be at least equal to Kenobi and Anakin combined in a sabre duel.
Also,Spoiler

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
Had to say this story-arc was a major step-up for Season 3 so far. The animation and the fight scenes were pretty awesome, and I loved the music that played throughout the latter half. There were a few problems, though,

I liked the presentation of the Force as a more arcane, eldritch power as depicted by the Witches, and it looks like the next arc will have equally arcane applications of it as well. And according to the copy of the Insider I glanced through, they'll be discussing the prophecy of the Chosen One as well.ike Obi-Wan and Anakin deciding to tackle him on Toydaria, and the possibility of the Maul clone having a really stupid execution.

Looking up what the next few episodes will be about, I'm hoping they either don't screw it up or at least leave it open for interpretation.

So the Family are definitely embodiments of the Force.
The episode isn't up to the same par with the Witches of Dathomir arc, but there wasn't anything notably bad about it. Without Liam Neeson and Sam Witwer this episode would be rather forgettable.

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
Honestly, I think this episode, like the first episode in the Witches arc, suffered because it was mostly setting up the events to follow.
It seems like these three-episode arc stories are intended to be viewed as one story, like they did with the theatrical showings of the Dathomir trilogy.

There's still another episode or two until we see how it turns out. It seems like the Force is trying to communicate to Anakin that he needs to realize his potential and I can't tell which but it seems to either be trying to communicate that he needs to be far more careful in his actions or that he needs to remain apart from the Jedi and the Sith entirely.Srelex wrote:Huh. From the episode guide:-

And in addition to Liam Neeson, that was Pernilla August playing Shmi. This trilogy of episodes dives into concepts of the Force and ancient Jedi prophecy like never before, and represent an unusually deep exploration direct from George Lucas of some of the saga's biggest concepts. While there will undoubtedly be questions about how much that is experienced in the Mortis realm can be defined as "real," the answers will surely depend on your own point of view.

Jesus Christ, that was stupid on so many levels. I really do not like this mythologization of star wars.
Also, are they reusing Ventress model for Ahsoka's fighting style now? Their two-lightsaber style is very similar.
