As a guy who grew up with G1, I have to say that Beast Wars had much more intelligent writing. That being said...

I'm actually happy they're going to ditch the 30ft robot/handgun/giant robot gun thing. It WAS the stupidest part of G1. Although, I'm sentimental about the Magical Trailer, so I'm a bit of a hypocrite :) Dya think they'll use a WW/G2-style Megatron tank mode?

But, the whole movie will suck, because it will revolve around how the efforts of a few Americans (oil workers, cripples, or (worse) kids) can change the fate of a million-year conflict between good and evil over the fate of the universe. And that will be 'day after yesterday' level lame.

AND we'll all watch it for the deadly CG fight scenes. Just like how twelve minutes of TF:TM is watchable :)

Ah yes, the Magic Trailer!

Maybe Huffer will be there to drag it about.....

That actually has a perfectly reasonable (and official) explenation (with a good deal of support from the cartoon), and it happens to be something I like about Tranformers in general.

Then I bet *YOU* hate it! :) Honestly, we'll all have enough to complain about after it comes out.

It's too early for me to hate anything about the movie at this point, before they even have a script, director, or cast. Right now I'm just rather bummed out by it if it proves to be true.

True, I haven't even heard which, if any, continuity its using. Just be thankful it isn't Armada, and hope GI Joe doesn't make an appearance :)

They are not that bad :P
Yes, they are that bad! The new transformers suck and I hate them! And I hate anyone who likes them!

:P
I thought BWs was really good, though BM did suck IMHO. Energon, also sucks in every possible way, but Armada had its moments, few and far between as they were. The ep where Starscream gets left behind by the D-cons and then goes balistic on Megatron, trying to kill him with the Starsaber springs to mind. It was also the only ep I know of where Prime gets his hands on that sword.

Why, WHY does everyone hate Beast Machines? It wasn an enormous 2 season story arc with no irrelevant episodes. The writing was good, the plot was good. The only criticisms I've heard about have been "0 nos!!!!! Cybertron is teh 0|2G4N1k. That blows" Is this really all there is to this loathing of Beast Machines, or am I missing something?

Most don't like how drastically different it was compared to Beast Wars in characterisations, plotting, and themes, the last having quite a few radical differences to Transformers in the past as a whole.

I second that. BM has the best storyline of all TF series. The fact that it made Cybertron organic is...unfortunate, but can be written off as an alternate universe. That's what I do.

Have a very nice day.

So it's hated because it's not Beast Wars? I find this.....ironic considering the response BW garnered from the G1 fan-boy sect (aka Raksha)

As for cybertron being organic...it's not. It's still technological, just with organic material intertwined with it. It's not as if it's impposible to undo it in future continuitions of the BW/G1 continuity. Just have some extra-cybertronians detonate dirty bombs all over the place. There, plant problem solved.

How about the fact that there was, in fact, a coherent history of Cybertron, and it was not organic. It was an inert rock possessed by Primus. Oh yea.. It wasn't on TV and therefore who cares.

Precisely.

The cartoon origin of the Transformers was that they were made by the Quintessons. There's nothing in this origin that disallows Cybertron once being an organic world.

More news from Don Murphy.

Zemeckis is in no way involved- Harry Knowles hasn't seen the truth (or his feet) in a very long time.

We are staying focused on the original mythology.

We are working to get permissions for REAL vehicles so that Bumblebee turns into a VW for example.

Steven is COMPLETELY behind staying true to the mythology- no supersoakers.

Hasbro has exerted a ton of pressure so that the film happens QUICKLY.

Your voice is being heard.

A cheap pump action water gun.

Though in this case I'm more or less assuming he is meaning that the Supersoakers are these brightly colored things to not resemble weapons, that is the thought.

The TF's are likely to appear more real and not neon green-blue.

Oh, except that Beast Wars/Beast Machines more follows a combination of the cartoon and the comics, with a greater emphasis towards the comics.

Bang.

Maybe he means they're not going to puss out and change Megatron into something other than a handgun.

There's that too hopefully.

I still like the Tank design they used consistently as his alternate form for many versions of him.

Haha smart guy. You know what I meant :p

Spanky The Dolphin wrote: Oh, except that Beast Wars/Beast Machines more follows a combination of the cartoon and the comics, with a greater emphasis towards the comics.

More like greater emphasis towards the TV show with some token references to the comic:

Starscreams death was taken from the cartoon
G1 Megatron's appearance was taken from the cartoon
The design of the Ark was taken from the cartoon
Vector Sigma was taken from the cartoon
The Key to Vector Sigma was taken from the cartoon
The Plasma Energy Chamber was taken from the cartoon.
Iacon was taken from the cartoon

There are only two things that came from the comic:

Primus and the name of the Ark. The former never even actually appears in the show, he's only mentioned in the context of "this is the transformer religion"–he's never stated to progenitor of the transformer race.
