That were over before they even began (they were told in past-tense, for reasons which have NEVER been clear to me). The BFC also said that slugthrowers make up some heavy artillery pieces and that they can be used on starfighters, it introduced the K-Wing for no reason WHATSOEVER, and it's boring side-plot with Lando went absolutely nowhere while the obnoxious, snooty 3P0 and R2 were cussed out by Lobot (also for no reason).Silver wrote:Black Fleet Crisis had good fleet battles though.
I'm not saying that KJA's books were great, and I'm not saying that Stackpole sucks. I really liked Isard's Revenge, and I REALLY liked Dark Tide (especially Dark Tide I). I thought of I, Jedi, as a book that had about 75 pages of information crammed into 600. On the other hand, ALL of my friends have really liked it. I read some reviews of it on Amazon, and it seemed to really polarize people. Everyone either hated it or absolutely loved it, and there was really no middle-ground. I don't know. I don't RECOMMEND I, Jedi, but I also wouldn't tell anyone off if they told me that they were going to buy it.LMSx wrote:MoS, I think your just odd.I really liked I, Jedi and the Black Fleet Crisis. I think that the Barbra Hambly/KJA/BH trilogy of books royally sucked, in comparison to Isard's Revenge/I, Jed/SOTP/VOTF.
I've never even read those, and I OWN every single other SW book. I once saw them in the book store and decided that GL wouldn't even get ME to fork over the five bucks for one of those. Maybe I'll get 'em someday from a used book store, but from what I've heard about them online they're not worth the ONE dollar.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Hey Bean, since you wanted to know:
The Glove of Darth Vader
The Lost City of the Jedi
Mission from Mount Yoda
Prophets of the Dark Side
Queen of the Empire
and Zorba the Hutt's Revenge
were written by Paul and Hollace Davids from 1992 to 1993.
I've only read the reviews at TheForce.Net, but believe me, it was more than enough. I believe those are the only Star Wars books that are considered to be appocryphal (eg, Never Ever Happened).
AGGGHHH! I have those books! WHY'D YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME??? WHYYYYYYY????Mr Bean wrote:Worst hmm would be the Jedi Tales books the kiddies SW books about a city of the jedi, no jedi save one and a bunch of droids.... Landos floating house on Bespin where that one jedi mentioned above nearly falls to his death(The house is freken like a Suberban house with Repuslerlifts glued on hovering 2 miles over the Grand freken Canyon)..... I ran across these horrible peaces of literary crap about five years back, All of them number under 150 pages and I only saw about two of them but the back-cover indicated there where five altogther
A sig worthy quote if ever there was one.David wrote:Bevel was kinda like his favorite chew toy.
Whcih Black Fleet Crisis were you reading? The first chapter of Before the Storm is told entierly in present tense, the confrontation at Dorniik 319 was told all in present tense, the conflict at ILC-905 was told about 80% in present tense, the conflict at the Yvethat Homeworld was told again 80% present tense. The fact that there are exceprts that seem to come from after the battle does not chagne the fact that we are given commentary in an as it happens way.Master of Ossus wrote:That were over before they even began (they were told in past-tense, for reasons which have NEVER been clear to me).Silver wrote:Black Fleet Crisis had good fleet battles though.
The K-Wing serves a VITAL role that the NR previously did not have fufilled, that of the heavy bomber. the B-Wing is a tactical bomber but it doesn't have the payload to carry big boys like the T-33 "Egg." the K-Wing is the medium bomber of the carrier taskforce while the b-Wing is the Fighter/Bomber. Each has its uses but the K-Wing is very dedicated and very vital to a balanced carrier force. The BFC also said that slugthrowers make up some heavy artillery pieces and that they can be used on starfighters, it introduced the K-Wing for no reason WHATSOEVER,
Now this I agree with.and it's boring side-plot with Lando went absolutely nowhere while the obnoxious, snooty 3P0 and R2 were cussed out by Lobot (also for no reason).
Incorrect completely. A'baht, Brand, and Nylykerka all appear in the NJO to greater and lesser degrees. As to his other characters well I don't know about Maj. Sorannan but Nil Spaar is dead as is Plat Mallar which means of the six original semi-main characters he created two are dead, one if MIA, and the other three appear in the NJO.The best mark, though, of BFC's terribleness is the fact that, while KJA's books have characters continuing through the SW saga to this day, NONE of BFC's characters have even seen another book. I don't even think that they made it into the Essential Guides (except for the Yevetha and Nil Spaar)!
Who were you directing that towards?Mr Bean wrote:The point stands they where worse by any stretch of the imgatination than ANY other book in EU :D
Screw you too, here and back on ASVS. Black Fleet Crisis had some of the best EU moments. The last 200 pages of Tyrant's Test were some of the best in the bits from the entirety of the EU.Eleas wrote:"Have you even read the Black Fleet Crisis? If you haven't then don't. No one should buy those books."
Amen, brother. Preach on.
