The hostility is because it bares about as much resemblence to the orginal Battlestar: Galactica as the new Planet of the Apes does to the orginal Planet of the Apes. They lifted the names and some of the most basic premises but really ignored everything else.
Kind of like what the original did to Pierre boulle's novel.

I can make a mistake same as anybody. I never saw it on the preview (the two times I saw it while watching SG-1 I was distracted by other things) and I never go to the Sci-Fi Channel site (which, by the way, I had limited these tidbits to people who have only seen the previews, so even if it's on Sci-Fi's site, it's irrelevant to what I was saying before).

Yup, someone mentioned that. I think it's a rather stupid ploy... :?

Depends on when in November...if it's late, it won't matter as much.

But I see your point.

They finish in November and they'll air it in December? That's pretty soon, actually.

I mean if it's sitting on the shelf waiting for distribution.

It looks weird but it's grammatically correct.

Let me see, we have concept art of a Cylon toaster, a cast cylon infiltrator named number 6, clear concept art and blurry video of Cylon Raiders, a silloette of a Basestar, many pics of a new Viper, and maybe a split second shot of the side of a Battlestar. Am I missing anything?

Ok, just went through the site. It looks pretty neat if you ask me. The sexy woman in red might be a bad thing but if they do it right with the artificial woman theme then it would be ok.

Personaly I don't mind much that Starbuck in now a chick but on the other hand, there were plenty of women in the original that they could have expaned on and still have Starbuck a dude. I did notice that there is no Athena in the cast. She was one of my favorites, that and no Cassiopia but I guess thats what you get when the womanizer on the show is now a woman.

But you haven't even seen the show. How do you know it's going to suck? Because it's different than the original? The original wasn't really that awesome, either.

Let's see, they've raped the original (Cylons built by Man) and the previews are full of sex.

your right i have not seen it
and it may well be great
but give it`s owen name
not galactica
it is a completly different
show
let it stand or fall on its own
not try to ride on the name of another

star trek was not all that great
but it had its moments
and when they came they were great

its the same for galactica
except galactica was killed
far to soon

it took s.t.t.n.g. almost three years
to have a good episoed

and it neaver matched the rateings
of galactica at its lowest

Well, being thirty and being around for the first run of Galactica, I must say that I am still excicted for the new mini series. I does have the potential to suck but it also has the potential to be very well done and until I see it, I will give it the benifit of doubt.

Like Knife, I am thirty and watched the original series as religiously as Trekkers watched ST:TNG and DS9, so I have some very fond memories of the series.
Being female, I was also very much in lust with Starbuck. This is why I'm bitching about the sex change. I WANT MY SEXY MAN BACK!

Still, I will watch the premiere of the new series, just to see everything that's changed. I will give it the benefit of the doubt, and try to suck back my resentment over Starbuck. Still, at the moment, my opinion of the show (formed by trailers and spoilers) is low.
