Do you mean the SVR (foriegn intelligance service)?.
Anyway, does anyone think it was a bit daft of whoever did it to leave the bug in such a place that it could be found buy a guy doing a maintanance

Iraq has both the Germans and the French by the balls somehow, thats why they are so anti-war, and they bugged them to make sure they didn't let anyone know.
Oil and some suspicious new military toys might well be what they have on them.

And the bugs could have been planted by anyone. There are plenty of people besides the US interested in spying on the EU these days.

No, they weren't Ming. There was an article in today's Helsingin Sanomat that said Israel is one of the prime suspects, especially since quite a bit of the electrical work on the building was done by an Israeli company with Israeli personnel. Of course, it could be the US or Britain or anybody else too, but given the above, my bet is on Israel.

Its generally understood the countries spy on each other, while France and Germany would make a big huff... they do the same thing themselves. Take a look how France handled "Greenpeace" during their 80s nuclear testing... planted spies and commando raids on their organization, all brought to light c/o the determination of the NZ gov't.

I remember that. The frogs wanted to try and bust their people out of Mt Eden prison, but gave up on the idea when they found it is built like a mideval castle and was guarded by the SAS.
Oh, and fuck france for that, and for their economic blackmail
