, I think it would be cool if Summer Glau shows up on
Dollhouse. Then we have to watch out for code words like "Miranda" and Fruity Oaty Bar advertisements.
I've heard that Summer Glau may well be appearing in the next series of Dollhouse (its even been whispered that Morena Baccarin may be appearing as well)
I must admit that I never really liked T:TSCC, somehow the show never clicked with me. On the other hand I was greatly taken with Dollhouse; the concepts behind it and the issues it raised fascinate me.

I never knew you were a fan of Summer Glau, Stu. That's just awesome. You computate the megadeaths induced by thermonuclear warfare when you're working in your job, but at off-time you leik to watch shows with ROBOT RIVER!!!! ^_____^

It certainly wouldn't be surprising if the Goldstein "History of the World" or such in 1984 was just another layer of control they throw over the Outer Party, to catch any free-thinkers - just like how O'Brian pretended to be a subversive in order to catch Winston. We already know that they're more or less changing their history frequently ("We're always at war with Eastasia" to "We're always at war with the other guy"), so what's making up a false history document that conveniently fell into Winston's hands compared to that?

That's always been my theory; that Goldstein's book was created by the Party as a further means of pursuing their agenda. In The Business there's a saying, "The Secreter, the Truer." If some information comes from the public library, its much less believable than the same information stamped "Top Secret". I believe that Goldstein's book was simply intended to promote the Party line by wrapping it in a cloth of illegality. "Gee, this is banned so it must be true"

It's been a lot of years since I did the thermo thing but yeah. Summer Glau is definately fan-worthy (although I must admit I prefered Morena Baccarin in Firefly). Apparently Summer Glau will be in Dollhouse 2 but will NOT be one of the Dolls. She told Joss Whedon that "she'd like to play a normal person before she dies of old age."

She does seem pretty type-casted in the whole nutty ballet-dancing elegant but creepifying vulnerable-looking but outright killy killing machine.

Summer Glau as been typecast at this point as the "'Hello Kitty' Murder Machine", which while awesome, I imagine can be rather tiresome.

Indeed - and for that matter, we don't really get any evidence that they're receiving orders from what would presumably be the center of Oceania's power (back in the New World). The various Ministries are in Great Britain, Winston does his changing of history in Great Britain, the philosophy of Oceania is called "IngSoc", and so forth.
That said, keeping the name "Airstrip One" is rather bizarre. It would almost make me speculate that they
were part of some greater alliance until a calamity happened ("Atomic Wars" are mentioned, among other things), and after that alliance fell apart, they kept their designated name and pretense of it to justify their control.

This is pretty cool- an
analysis of online jihadist writing about the caliphate- apparently they have as little idea of what it would look like as anyone else does.
