I'd suggest making a page akin to the sticky about "Who could beat the Empire" in OSF.

The question is a valid one, and like the sticky, it would make answering it easier by simply assembling a complete list with references and calcs and such to link to if need be.

A note to all those people creating pages about users.
Very very soon you're going to have a horde of people coming in, registering users for themselves. You will then have quite a few duplicate pages, such as
Einhander snoman page
And a User_page for Einy Snoman.
Duplication is bad?

Stark: to the left side (the columnish thing) there should be a link that says "upload images" or something like that.

Oh yeah, I'm wondering about the content of the wiki. Is it going to be simply about the debate, or is it going to include sd.net "culture"? I just saw an article on anal sex...

We could for starters, deal with pertinent issues that seem to tie up everyone's tongues over at TF.Net for starters.

Like why Traviss is a bitch who should never be allowed to write Star Wars, and why Lucas Licensing is filled with idiots.

If you turn the wiki into a soapbox, no-one's going to use it except the people who agreed with you to begin with. You might as well have made it a blog if you're just going to rant.

I'm sure someone can write up a timeline or summary that speaks for itself.

I'm doing what I can to solve this by having my "Soldier of Entropy" article be a subheading of my "Entropy's Soldier" Article.

I'm not really sure what IS the purpose of this wiki. Trying to steer this away from just fooling around, I put up the current versions of History of SDN, Timeline and the Shit List acording to the chronicle.
It'd help if we knew if this was a wiki about the debate, a Wiki about SDN or what?

I have a little experience with wikia, so I did a little experiment. After seeing that the main page was essentially empty, I created an experimental main page you can see here:
http://www.stardestroyer.net/mrwong/wik ... .php/Index

What do you think?

The front page will need some links to important pages (like Tribune did in his example) that can act as portals to more information.

The pages don't have to actually exist yet, since someone can then just click on them and create the desired content.

If the front page has those links, it will also give editors more of a direction to focus their energy on.

Sounds good, and this direction will help avoid the utterly ludicrous spam on the side of posters like Death and shep. Because pages like "Jews", "AYVB", "The Big One", a pair of pages about Sheps dogs, are not exactly the most thrilling material this side around.

So looks good?
I would try to edit the main page to resemble it, but only Mike can do that.

I've put a draft turbolaser article up. I haven't learned how to do citations yet, so nothing is cited yet.

OK, I modified the main page to look more like what Tribun made, with some changes. Please let me know what you think. I'm wondering if I should collapse the "Starships" and "Infantry" category lists to make it smaller.

PS. Encrypted link now available for editors who are worried about security.

Looks good now, I only have to tweak the other test sites you made, to adapt them to the sheme you made on your main page. (I'm used to normally editing the main page itself, thus I have to re-tool what I created a little)

Mike, it's a wiki. You can nudge it an manage it, but it's going to either take off on its own or wither away.

I think all you need to do is appoint some admins and then see what happens.

You might consider writing a policy page regarding links to the main SD.net site and such. The Wiki could easily end up heavily duplicating the main site, which might not be a bad thing depending on how well it goes.

You should also set some policies on handling dueling edits, registration before editing, spamming and malicious editing, banning, etc. You know that Trekkies are going to show up sooner or later, so you might as well be ready to handle competitive editors. Like, what are you going to do when RSA creates an account, for instance?

Jesus fucking H christ, I can't believe I'm saying this but could we have some admins appointed to ban the ever living fuck out of people making stupid crappy articles like "gay" or about random SDNers?

Question, can you add in the real life category maybe something such as "SDN history" or "History of Stardestroyer.net"? That would allow us Keepers of the Lore to start making use of the amount of data we have.

You guys are right. We need admins. Any nominees?

Ok, it had been hard work, but I've laid the category framework by creating most of the category sites (now they need actual articles). I hope you like my idea for the headers of the main categories.

I can't however understand the people who think they have to spam around, especially some that are well known...

Perhaps articles about SDN users should be limited to prominent trolls? I can see user articles either turning into potential flame war/vendetta wars, or personal soap-boxes for people to stroke their own egos.
