Currently at 175, my goal is to go back to 165, when I first got to this base, or even better, to 155, which was my weight in tech school.

But its not really a matter of pounds as it is a matter of inches, trying to slim down to where I don't have a belly anymore.

Anybody got any advice?

Finally, my place is ready, I'm moved in and I can start exerting control over what food is in the house, what food gets cooked and consequently what food I eat.

No more candy out everywhere. No more eating out 3 times a week. No more pork chops, mashed potatoes and beans for dinner. No more feeling self conscious because I weigh and measure everything.

I can finally get back to my 3 oz. chicken breast, 1/2 cup herbed brown rice and 1/2 cup roast or grilled veggies and get all this goddamn weight that I've put on, off.

Plus with my dog here, I don't get to make up excuses for not going for walks. Unless it's raining...

There are a few places you can go that have ok things to eat. Dairy Queen has a grilled chicken salad that is safe if you eat half of it and save the rest for later and just have half the italian dressing. If you have Mr Sub in the States, the Tuna wrap is good if you have the whole wheat wrap with the light mayo and lots of veggies.

But other than that, your right it's better to eat at home and measure everything than eat out. I just spent four days away from home and had to eat out everyday and because of that I only lost one pound over the four days.

Oh, I've no doubt that you can eat out and not gain weight. I've done it.

But living at home enabled all of my worst habits (not surprising, since that's where I learned them) and over the past year and a half I've been getting progressively worse. Now I need to build my good habits back up and make sure that I don't keep snack food in the house. I'm an emotional eater, so if I'm feeling bad or even just bored, I go looking for a snack. At my folks house, that's trivially easy to find. At my old apartment and at my new house, there won't be any and I can keep myself under control.

I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread yet, but I wanted to let all of you know about this free website I found which lets you log and track your food, it provides a calorie count, goal meters, exercise logs, community... basically all the stuff you get when you pay for Weightwatchers.com or e-Diets.

It's at Sparkpeople.com. I joined up a couple of days ago and I'm frankly amazed so far by all the features. It's one of those things that you stumble over and think "This is free?", but so far I haven't been able to find a catch except some ads on the page.

Hope it helps.

How tall and active are you? For many men, 155 is on the low side. And if you're around normal weight and go on a diet with the idea of "toning your belly", you risk ending up losing muscle mass everywhere. In that case a gym would be better.

So I'm gonna try this again.

Tomorrow, on top of the weight lifting, I am going to start doing cardio again. 45 mins a day on either the sit down bike or the elliptical. I can't find a scale any where that can weigh me, but I think I am going to be starting at close to 400lbs, take 10-20lbs.

My overall goal is to get back down (if you can believe this) to 270-280, which is my preferred weight. My short term goal is to loose 80lbs by my birthday which is Dec. 6th.

and May the Force Be With Me.

This is a good pic of how big I am now, especially in comparison to my friends.
Image

And this is where I want to get back too. About 270ish. I have posted these before.

Hope the pics aren't to big for this thread.

I just weighed in for the hell of it and realized that I'm at a really high number. I need to cut back on what I eat. I am kind of tall for my age so apperance wise it balances out, that is not going to be the if I continues at this rate.

Update: I've lost 5 pounds since moving back out into my own place. Now that I have control over what food is in the house, I can finally get my snacking under control. I can also more easily control my portions. Plus I'm doing some calestenics, weights and walking my dog for at least a half hour every night.

I've got about 15, 20 pounds to meet my goal. If I were to take a S.W.A.G I would guess that'll take about 6 months. Those last few pounds are often the most difficult.

The bad news: I'm going on vacation this weekend and will be spending a week with friends that don't put on weight as easily as I do. Consequently, they don't really understand the difficulty I face or the measures I take and they tend to try to give my "advice" that, over time, is conflicting. I can eat whatever I want, but I can't, but I can as long as I exercise more but I just need to eat less, but I can't measure or be careful about what I'm eating I just need to eat less, etc. They would even try to tell me this 5 years back when I was working with a personal trainer, when I had just started measuring everything and when I was spending 4 to 6 days a week in the gym and as much as an hour and a half every time I went.

I'll persevere. I'm even bringing some of my weights with me so I can workout in the morning before everyone wakes up. Not a huge amount, but enough to get me through the week. Still, it'll be a challenge with 4 adults, a 4 year old, a 3 year old and a 9 month old in the house.

Well, I'm back. It was great getting to see my friends again and play with their little girls. I made them ice cream so they could see it being made and we went out to eat. A lot. But, overall, I was good about eating and exercising. Save for one day on the food when I ate so much that I woke up at 5 am with a stomach ache. That's the bad part. The good part is that I apparently didn't put on any weight. I guess all the activity burned off enough calories that I was okay as long as I don't continue eating like that. And I won't be since I'm back at home now and getting right back into the routine of my exercise/eating regimen.

Sweet. The scale at the gym can finally weigh me at 355. So I've lost between 20-30 pounds.
