Because it isn't a big bubble.
Of course, that sort of means prior to TNG, TREK didn't have shields either...

It's frustrating to be forced to accuse other people of dishonesty because it's so easy for someone to turn around and say that you are the one who's being dishonest. That's Darkstar's entire modus operandi, after all. But there's just no other reasonable conclusion when dealing with people like this. They're simply liars, and there's no other remotely accurate way to put it.

Oh, no, it means only that the special effects were imperfect, because the dialogues speaks about shields, and dialogues in Trek is the Word of God. At least I suppose that they would say this...

Which, again, as Mike pointed out, makes them liars because they will happily accept shields in TOS thanks to dialogue but maintain Wars has no shields in spite of dialogue AND visible shield effects in the OT because of 'no bubbles'. Happily ignoring perfectly visible 'bubble' shields in TPM.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The 'great vampires' were huge spacefaring animals, not Dracula.
NL's point is that since when introduced the vampires had already been DEFEATED (by huge fleets of bowships) and that the boss guy only escaped due to luck. They're clearly not the most powerful group in the universe.

I think he means that the borg are space Zombies.

Quick question: does anyone have a picture of that setting sixteen phaser shot where they're carving up that lava tube?

Those kinds of pictures are always so cringe-worthy. It doesn't look remotely like the actual look of heat conducting through a solid object. You can actually see the sharp boundaries.

Don't forget to note on that lava tube that you can see the other side through the jumble of rocks in the tube. It was never a solid mass of rock.

EVERY time they blast through rock walls it's only been a jumble of rocks blocking the entrance. In most cases they could easily have knocked them aside by hand.

The death star's strongest power blast is on 10 to the 38th power. Meaning the more powerful ships in could withstand direct barage from the death star. Therefore, Trek wins.

Does he honestly not realize that 10x10^38 has 26 MORE zeros than 10x10^12?
Really, this is typical of stupidtube comments, but JEEZ.

He probably thinks that 38 is only slightly more than three times 12, therefore 1E12 is nearly one third of 1E38. I know, it's horribly retarded, but we're not exactly dealing with MENSA candidates here.

And that's ignoring that TMP statement completely failed to specify a unit of measurement so the 1E12 power comment doesn't mean DICK.
Not that the '12th power' comment actually detailed anything about it actually being 1E12 whatever, they just said '12th power' and left it at that, and that was WRT V'Ger's OVERALL power generation, not the weapons used against the E-Nil. At least if memory serves.

Sigh. Anyone got a link to a spot where I can pick up some TOS scripts. I need to look up the Doomsday machine.

What Darth Servo is saying Aratech is that the guy's a fucking liar on top of being a fucking idiot. Whatever this nebulous "12 power" energy is (not 12th, 12) - it's got nothing to do with what was fired at the Enterprise - it's Spock doing a general scan, before they're fired on (IIRC). Decker outright states that "thousands" of starships couldn't generate that. Whatever that is.
I think Vympel might have his 'Darths' mixed up as I only posted links to scripts. However, the relevant bits from the TMP script:
KIRK: No...(pause)... that could also be misinterpreted as hostile, Mr. Decker.
(to Spock) Cloud composition, Mr. Spock?
SPOCK: Twelve power energy field --
The cloud was 12 power, not V-ger's great balls o' technobabble.

An order of magnitude more actually, according to the script. Granted, a change could have been made to the script or the actor could have forgotten a word, etc...
DECKER: That measures twelve power? Ten thousands of starships couldn't generate that much...

Wow, he's really trying to use service numbers to justify a large federation fleet?
Service numbers in real life have been manipulated to obfuscate real fleet sizes. It seems to me that the federation simply went to a 5-digit number at some point for a new generation of ships, with plenty of evidence out there *against* sequential numbering outside of individual ship sub-classes.
Mith is clearly nothing more than the classic "wank literal interpretation of dialog to the most ridiculously degree possible (when it helps Trek)"
