It's not actually that widely shown outside the US. The only reason why I know what it is is because I've managed to catch various third party refferences to it in TV and so forth.

Bah, you damn foreigners should learn all you can about our Glorious American Culture, so you can integrate faster once we conquer you.

Hrm. You know, I wonder if anyone would have noticed if a small scoutship with an Effector had hung around to record all this juicy, juicy PR bait.

I noticed not everyone had left, but what can we do about it? ;) And we're talking not over comm bands...

Come now, please, you expect to be able to record a conversation through the walls of a fortified station?

No, just jack into the security equipment. 8) It's half in jest anyway. The Corsairs would loooove to smear folks for acting like this, but it's doubtful my allies would go along for such cowboy antics.

Oh, by the way, when McBride says the ERTC is concerned with all commerce, he means within the East, of course.

Sweet! Everyone pack up and move east, the ERTC are providing free litigation!

Good luck. :P And I'm pretty sure that yes, you would be noticed. Not if you just hung around at a reasonable distance (I'm assuming that an Effector is some sort of cloaking device), but if you tried to remotely hack the station's systems, well... Take a good look at that battle fleet and ask yourself, "Do I really want to try it?"

An Effector is a Remote Access Point In A Box. A magic doodah from CultureTech(The basis of Corsair technology) which lets the user link into other systems and fuck with 'em, download 'em, whatever. A true Effector can even work as mind control-telepathy, but Corsair ones can only boost natural telepaths or provide the ability to log into standalones; you have to hack in after you get access.

It's how we always avoid patrols.

I think, Spyder, that your statement that the ERTC barly gives these worlds the time of day is categorically untrue. Their shipping is protected by the ERTC, just like everyone else's in the area. Additionally, most of their imported goods probably come through the ERTC's lanes.

by Spyder
Why would they? Their exports would have fallen well below minimum import quotas and you said the other day that there were millions of colonies out there, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that I've managed to find some that were being left in the dust. Mind you, it's not a point that's going to be exploited, it doesn't really matter.

by Rogue 9
Well, no matter how below minimum import they are, whatever shipping they have is still under ERTC protection, even if indirectly. Last I checked, we rooted out pirates wherever they're found and didn't turn down distress calls simply because the colony of origin doesn't meet some kind of minimum quota.

Alrighty then, modifying...

For all the tough-guy invective, we *have* been living up to our promise of protection on the trade lanes.

I think Thirdfain depends very heavily on the relative inexperience of some of the people who are playing his client nations ;)

And that is my contribution to defend the trade lanes.

Uh, just wondering, but what are you doing all the way out in the west when you are still taking baby steps in the east?

On my way to Blue Pointe, paying the locals a visit.

Watch your step there, it's crowding with warships currently :P
Though theoretically, I'd still be in a meeting with InnocentBystander there *G*

Uh, the path you would have taken to get to Blue Pointe would not have taken you where I am. In fact, if you traveled the safe lanes, you would reach Blue Pointe, before me.

Can we stop quibbling? Jeez. Heaven forbid someone wants to get some interactions in.

I have no problem with it, I just dont really find that explanation logical. I have no problem refusing his offer for aid.
