Good freaking God. Our dear little Husker, ever the Troll, decided to go and 'bump' the original, 227 page long thread... in spite of the fact that there are three other threads on the exact same subject going.

For future reference, how strong are the Daleks? I have heard that they have ships that can destroy planets, but I dont know anything about them individually, I have heard that one Dalek can conquer a planet, but I dont know much beyond that.
I dont question that they would win against Trek, I just would like a bit more info is all.

Um-welcome to the Trek side of the vs debate these days?

A standard Dalek trooper in "Dalek" casually slaugthered several hundred American Marines unloading G-3 rifles at it, and that's the least impressive feat in that episode. The Dalek was hurled through a time vortex that the Doctor says should have destroyed it, went through atmospheric reentry, hit the earth, and burned in its crater for three days. It then spent the next fifty years being passed around to private collectors who had no idea what the hell it was, aside from the fact that it was an alien.Darth Ruinus wrote:For future reference, how strong are the Daleks? Upon acquiring the energy to escape, the Dalek busts out of its containment unit, hacks a 1,000,000,000 combination lock in half a second, before draining 1/3rd of the Continental U.S. of power and downloading the internet in its entirety in about five seconds. The Doc sums the situation up pretty well in this conversation:
American Cloak and Dagger type: "How bad's the situation?"
Doctor: "Nearest city?"
ACD: "Salt lake."
Doc: "Population?"
ACD: "Two million."
Doc: "All dead."

It's a good show. The important thing to remember though, is that that was a rank and file grunt. Higher end ones, like the Cult of Skareo Daleks, were hinted to have star cracking power, as well as personal time travel machines built into their armor.Darth Ruinus wrote:

Given that he challenged me then left my response unanswered, I think he'll bite, then run away and declare victory. Please. The Doctor's hyperbole is not evidence, and the time travel they have is dodgey and totally fucks their power supply. Hmmm, valid point.
....Oh dear, it seems as though spending too much time around the trektards may be rubbing of on me. Do we have a sci-fi equivalent of holy water handy?
The fact remains however, that if you were to stick one or two Dalek soldiers on a UFP ship, my money's going on the moving pepperpots with the tinny British accents.

That's not hard: they're probably immune to smallarm phasers on regular settings and would probably subvert the computer system pretty fast. They don't need time travel to do it.Aratech wrote:The fact remains however, that if you were to stick one or two Dalek soldiers on a UFP ship, my money's going on the moving pepperpots with the tinny British accents.

Wait, did Freedo just argue that 3D blueprints for a 160 Km station with resolution down to the meter aren't storage intensive?
And are LESS so because they are holographic?
I've got to just sit lie down and laugh for a minute at that. I can understand these people not knowing physics and chemistry, but to fail so badly at the concept of data storage is just...
I also like how Starfleet being locked out of their own computers by Larry Darryl, Darryl, and Clyde on a regular basis is evidence of GOOD computer security.
If a hacker changes my password, I had shit security. Same principle applies.

Dude, fucking Freedo is arguing with me that the Romulan Bird of Prey is the same size as the Millenium Falcon, and can therefor do the "hide behind the sensors" trick that it pulled off in TESB.

Despite the fact that it doesn't even have the proper shape to hide against the side of the Star Destroyer's bridge, let alone is small enough to go unnoticed, nor would it be very well hidden, considering the fact that its bright green and the Star Destroyer is bone white.Darth Ruinus wrote:Dude, fucking Freedo is arguing with me that the Romulan Bird of Prey is the same size as the Millenium Falcon, and can therefor do the "hide behind the sensors" trick that it pulled off in TESB.
Of course, it could use the cloak, but they can't exactly keep the cloak on forever and there's still going to be energy emmissions.

Damn it, can't ANY of those retards think rationally? (rhetorical question) What is it though that they think the ISD can't scan ANYTHING behind the bridge tower? Even though Captain Needa explicitly ordered his officers to track the Falcon after it flew over the tower.

The worst problem is how the hell they think its going to matter even if the BOP can pull it off. What kind of advantage is it going to give the Klingons or anyone else? Military intelligence? That's the only thing that stowing cloaked ships on the backs of ISDs would give them, and that would just give the intelligence gatherers a much clearer picture of just how absolutely boned they are.Darth Ruinus wrote:Also never mind the fact that a few shots from the ISDs would cripple and kill it, but hey, that doesn't stop people from arguing it anyways.Peptuck wrote:Despite the fact that it doesn't even have the proper shape to hide against the side of the Star Destroyer's bridge, let alone is small enough to go unnoticed, nor would it be very well hidden, considering the fact that its bright green and the Star Destroyer is bone white.

Clearly suffering from delusions of grandeur. However, you may wish to double check your figures. I think 1.5k worth of antimatter will make a significantly larger than 200 kilojoule bang, considering that's less than one tenth of what an Abrams 120mm has at its disposal.
