I think he meant the 21-cell RAM launcher.
Ar-Adunakhor wrote:In that vein, are your modifications adequate?
Poke.
Uh, that should be 36 F-35B, probably 12 MV-22 and 6 CH-53K or so (and 3-odd LCACs)
Please come with us, Comrade; we already have a complementary suite prepared for your stay in the Motherland. During your visit you will learn of the glory of both our
Battlecruisers and our superiority to the West.

Don't make us replace one of our ships with a CSGN, now, or a refitted BB.

[Unless it's infeasible for a reason I'm unaware of, the entire brigade is at your disposal.]
Taking that into consideration, Admiral, I believe I can put forth a tentative distribution roster for the 10th Marines.
LHA-6
Omaha:1,800 Marines
LPD-30
Alamo: 700 Marines
L16
Renown: 480 Marines
CVN-78
Arcadia: 120 Marines
BCGN-5
Harbinger: 80 Marines
D38
Indefatigable: 40 Marines
CG-74
Arclight: 40 Marines
DDG-105
Vengeance: 40 Marines
Colonel Tychu will have direct command over the Marines onboard the
Omaha (I assume there will be no problem with assigning him to command from your ship, Captain Phong),
Renown, and
Alamo. The CO of each ship, of course, will maintain direct jurisdiction over their detachments, although the Colonel and I will retain nominal authority over them as well. Please inform me if there are questions about this arrangement.
[Speaking of which, I'm still waiting for you to report in Tychu.]

I thought the short takeoff F-35 was deployed in 20-plane squadrons? And the lack of MV-22s was purely due to the massive number of JSFs.

Bah! Neither can match the superior engineering of the People's battlecruisers! *hurredly plugs leak*

On the real-life LHA(R), maybe - but in our alternate timeline and their huge ships they're getting normal configuration airwings. I don't get any of the fun support aircraft, though, just multirole mud movers.

Years ago on SB, IXJac posted a story about a Harpoon game involving the Iowa and Kirov battlegroups. In a series of crazy events he managed to close to gun range (with a somewhat radioactive and half-working battleship)

ZomgZ, no way. How in the hell?

Addendum/Edit: There is something that I have been wondering; where is the rest of the HAB? One would think they would be battering down the gates and storming in to rule the task force.

Failing the openings for Supreme Lazy Gunner, Master of Knife Missles and Walking Nuke, I'm up for taking command of a small group of marines (company or some such) seeing as I have no clue as to any navy vessels, helos or fighters.

I'd invite you to the
Vengeance, but from the looks of General Ire's plans, my detachment is only platoon-sized, which is a bit too small if you are looking for a whole company.
Too bad for you. Won't find better rum than on the
Vengeance. Unless you want a mojito or some other girly drink. Then you'd have to go to the

We'll be glad to have you.
I'll wait a bit longer before placing you, though, just to see where you are the most needed. Hell, if Tychu doesn't show up soon, I might give you command of most of the Brigade, if you want it.

Actually, probably more like 2x64 - the USN deleted the reload crane because it didn't work at sea. You already have 8 Harpoons in canisters; I don't know if you'd need anymore via VL-Harpoon. ESSMs are quadpacked in a cell - and that is a lot of ASROCs.
[Hmm, I wasn't aware of the non-VLS harpoons, nor that ESSM comes quadpacked. As to why so many ASROCs, I don't know why I chose that, really. Just felt like a good number. Still, perhaps I could shuffle it around some. 2x64 = 128 cells. If ESSMs come quad-packed, that means I could probably go 8 cells of ESSMs, 30 Tomahawks, 20 ASROCs, 70 SAMs*. That should give the ship a fair bit of ASuW capability, with a hellacious AAW punch (no offense to the flyboys, but I take AEGIS seriously:
Arclight is dedicated to keeping hostiles away from
Arcadia. That's her first job. Exacting vengeance is her second.

) and enough ASW coupled with my SH-60Bs that I can plink subs.
Besides, since I can change the loadout if I find that I've got too much of one thing or too little of another, there's not too much to worry about.
Oh, and while we're at it upgrading our ships, I'm gonna go ahead and add a pair of Sea-RAM launchers in place of the Phalanx CIWS.
*SAMs can also be employed against inbound cruise/ballistic ordinance, though not as effectively.]
EDIT: General Ire, it'll be a pleasure to host a platoon (I think that's right) of your fine Marines about
Arclight.

[Finally came up with a decent last name for my pirate character. Something a bit more dread-inducing than my own name. Got it from a Sims 2 character someone made based off of me, and then got him married to someone with a more threatening last name in order to give Sim-me more cred as a Criminal Mastermind]
Anyway, short history. Currently omitting specific names until the history is finalized. [ally] refers to my character's patron, a yet-to-be-determined somewhat shady ally of the USA. [enemy] refers to whoever the Arcadia will be fighting, which my character's sponsor would be very interested in defeating.
Captain Marcus Langarek of the Pirate ship Vengeance
The presence and deeds of Captain Langarek conjure up pictures of some of the more vicious corsairs of the Americas' colonial days, and his head would fetch a fairly considerable bounty if it were brought to [enemy]. His ship, the Vengeance, was originally the USS Dewey, which the American government loaned out, along with a large amount of other military equipment, to [ally], officially for the purpose of protecting [ally]'s national security. Through the vagaries of paperwork, the Dewey eventually found its way under the command of Marcus Langarek, where she was rechristened with her current name. Officially, Captain Langarek is an officer of [ally]'s navy, though those in the know are well aware that it is little more than a front to give his privateering legitimacy. In truth, [ally] exerts little hold over Langarek's activities, so long as he continues his work in disrupting [enemy]'s activities. And considering the money Captain Langarek receives under the table from the [ally] government, he has little reason not to fulfill his contract.
Will be updated as the universe's backstory gets fleshed out.

While I quite understand and don't care much for the overuse of smilies, it can be very hard to distinguish between a sarcastic comment and one meant in sincerity without some form of non-textual expression.
