A problem with the based-solely-on-postcount idea is that I'm pretty much stuck with nothing compared to guys with 8000+ postcounts. Now I don't need a big empire, but I'd still like my duchy to be not completely insignificant in every respect.
That's why Duchies will get 500-700 billion GDPs this time, making them actual countries rather than speedbumps. 8000+ guys would still be able to take you on, but it won't be cheap or bloodless.

I think you and Phong would make, like, best friends forever

Ah, alright, that would be most excellent. I don't need much more than a noir and slightly insane version of New York City (most of the populace lives in the capital) anyway, so I can do without a lot of territory etc.

We're everyone's best friends, because we'll sell anything to anyone!

Need some small arms, Shep?

Well, maybe, at least. I'm interested, in any case, and will continue to look into this as time goes on.

I’m game, if we have some damn land boarders so we can actually fight conventional wars. The last game pretty much left no option but to spam nuclear weapons and try to wipe out the enemy because no one could have ever mounted a sufficiently large amphibious invasion to accomplish anything. I didn't buy a single tank or machine gun, because it was just pointless do invest in which things.
Reusing the old SDN world is way more trouble then it could ever be worth considering how many abandon nations its packed with. I also have no intention of accepting a subpar nation unless I can inhabit it with a full range of radioactive mutants bred out of a jungle set atop a natural fission reactor who use radiation as a unit of currency.
For a proper state I am thinking in terms of a railroad worshipping theocracy a bit on the lines of Imperial Japan, stuck in the process of digesting a China/Indonesia like nation overrun at great cost about 30 years back. It would have a massive heavy industrial economy, fanatical population, only limited high tech, and highly repressive government which faces its greatest threat from people who believe it isn’t radically repressive enough. It shall be located on the same continent as Shepistan, to the east, with some kind of small, rugged mountainous NPC nation inbetween the two, which shall break out in proxy war within minutes of the game start. No need for nukes when I have ONE HUNDRED MILLION TO DIE FOR THE EMPEROR with bayonets fixed!

Skim, I want your radioactive mutant babies, and I want to give birth to them atop a natural fission reactor.

I am going to redesign the Shadow Empire completely. I might keep a few things just for fun. But I will wait until the details about the GDP's and sizes are worked out.
I will also make a new map, or use one of those that Shroom posted.
As for placement I would like to be placed next to Stas and Fingolfin, if you guys don't mind.
Perhaps we can be a continent or something.
P.S. I will still be socialist, perhaps change the name of my country into the Socialist Shadow Republic/Empire.
And I plan to play a lot more seriously this time. No crazy shit, I leave that to Shroom.

If I end up sharing a border with Shep or Skimmer, I may have to ask the MESS to keep a substantial troop presence in my country.

Lets have me on one side and Skim on the other! We can have RUTHLESS MILITARISM! 25,000 MBTs, 15,000 IFVs, and 10,000 combat aircraft squeezed onto a single continent, all waiting for a shot to be fired!

Shep did profess the desire to be right next to you, so you too could be beer buddies (and throw the occasional punch)

Having to deploy a huge land army in the LSR will keep the MESS from being the unbalanced power it was in the earlier game -- it costs like about what, 5 to 10 times more to keep an Armored Division deployed outside of CONUS than it does to keep it in barracks in CONUS.

It does allow for some interesting counter espionage storylines and other scenarios, unlike a "Let's Nuke Them ALL!!" situation.

I was thinking of having my nation be a former colony of one of the larger nations that has now been independent for about 50 years or so. Unlike the other former colonies in the region, this one would not be a basket case. I would have a large minority population but with a large settler population as well. I am thinking that my nation was settled in 1700's or so and many of the "Indians" were killed off due to disease. There is a history of exploitation and racism but things would be much better now days
Land wise, it would be large and sparsely populated, perhaps with lots of natural resources. I also want some shit holes nearby to have interesting relations with. I'd prefer not to be that close to real power houses, I would be in a former colony region after all. Anyone else want to be a former colony? We can form our own regional organization!

I hope you plan on keeping ProTec. It was one of the more interesting factions, mang.
I intend on keeping Shroomania as is. I hope there will still be a FUN for us!

I'm going to tweak the Duchy of Langley slightly. I basically pulled stuff out of my ass the first time around, but I liked the end result.
Now, which flag looks better:
this one or
this one?

The former with the lionsnake.
Um, go for more animu kookiness and less military actions this time round

I'm still considering joining (Though I'm interested in how the map is going to be cut up) but something I must ask is, well, I'm certainly not a prolific poster here on SDN, mostly just posting stories and stuff, but I was the 10th member of the board going by order of joining (technically my account is 11th on the list, but Mike registered both his posting account and his admin account), would any of that be taken into consideration when deciding the power level one could have, be it me or anyone else who's been a long-time member here? Since I presume the post count method was adopted to ensure that senior posters of the board got powerful countries instead of untried newer members.

Maybe you could start with something like a normal-sized nation per post count but with some Great Wonder type thing... like international banking (Switzerland) and a GDP so obscenely high off of that that your citizens can live an almost Star Trek-like existence of self-improvement and minimal work?

Well....
I dunno. Hey, mang. It's not just about militaristic might - last time around, Shroomania had a pissweak military compared to all the killfuckers around. But we got by by being crazy and loopy and super-capitalistic and FUN FUN!
Besides, being a Duchy or a Principality won't stop anyone from being awesome. The United Arab Emirates has a relatively not-so-impressive GDP but that doesn't stop them from creating MOVING SKYSCRAPERS!

Yeah, we need to be fair-- this really isn't about one-upmanship so much as cooperative storytelling... with a bit of mil-wanking thrown in.

The main part is the storytelling - that is why PeZook is so cool and sweet, why I am so awesome, and that is why despite being a nuke-ravaged shithole - Coyote still has AWESOME storylines.
Steve, fanfics, nation - awesome storylines!
