As for the C-Wing, I believe I pointed out it sucks? It's pretty close to a Centauri fighter and about 10 other ships for it to be worth doing, I try to stick to stuff that's either...

1. Very Cool looking
2. Very funny
3. Very quick and easy to do
4. Unique
5. Will gain me sexual favours

The C-wing fails to score on any of those counts, unless either you or Rob are actually lithe young females with large breasts?

I agree, though I like my design, if Kenny wanted a similar heavy attack fighter, he could simply take his Patrol craft, scale it to 2x then in place of the side intakes he mounts the Turbolasers and enclosures, re colours it and hey presto the C-wing concept in an SW style body that shows a heritage of design from the Y-wing - hell he could say it was the same manufacturer taking the heavy fighter to it' logical conclusion. In fact he'd have more fun doing that I think, as he could overhaul the mesh, design the weapons enclosures and add details to the engine area and elsewhere.

It's strange you should ask, because *rips off mask* I am infact Konnie Huq from Blue Peter. Now for anyone else wanting to build a life-like mask, you'll need a roll of stickyback plastic, some felt-tips and a washing-up liquid bottle...

Konnie Huq! How did you know?? The hot, dusky maiden of the sticky-back plastic half hour would certainly be my idea of entertainment. If her dresses get any lower cut or she leans over once too often and Blue Peter is going to become x-rated. I'd buy that for a dollar.

Oh, and I'll have an update on the O-wing later I hope. The front end is pissing me off right now...

I am Rob, I know all and see all (Einh4nder, put the chloroform down, Durandal just won't understand. )

Konnie's been the only thing that makes Blue Peter worth watching for about 2-3 years now

Well it looks like I will be gone until tomorrow night at the earliest, I'll look forward to seeing your work then.

AAAARGHH!! FUCK!

Lightwave is behaving very badly, looks like I'm going to have to uninstall it and reinstall both it and WinXP to try and cure the damn thing. Must have been something I put in or downloaded a few weeks ago, whatever it is that's wrong began around that time and it's getting worse. The O-Wing is only around 45,000 polygons right now but Lightwave's running more like it's 140,000. I can't model in any detail and the image maps are behaving very oddly, so it may be a day or two before any updates. I'm off to start digging out CDs and backups, cya soon...

Oooh, pretty :D

The C-Wing greatly resembles a Kilrathi fighter, IMHO (yeah, yeah, I know it was on page one). Kinda like a Sartha or a cut-down early Dralthi.

It's waiting on Kenny to finish his rendering. Once that's done, and it's all done and dusted, I can put a page together and Dalton can link to it from the FUQ.

I too wait with baited breathe.

Sorry dudes, got sidetracked somewhat. I had to step back from the fuggin thing, it was driving me mental. For some reason Lightwave just doesn't like working on it and everything slows to a crawl. I've fixed most of my problems with a fresh install of Win XP, but this one model continues to rip my knitting. I'll try and finish it in the next few days, but I'm working 7 days a week right now and dont have a lot of free time. I'll maybe try splitting it up into 3 or 4 completely seperate objects just for speeds sake, until i figure out why such a small model is knackering my PC.

Windows Rot?

Well a convenient way to speed up recovery is to burn an image of the hard drive to CDROMs when it's configured the way you like it, with Nero, then restore it when the computer gets too slow. Of course back up the data seperately too.

Thank you Plutonium for sharing that wisdom with us all, I hadn't thought to use my CD burner to back up stuff! :D

Nah, not that easy I'm afraid. Windows XP restore points actually work quite well for sorting out big stuff, not much need to ghost my hard drive to CDs really. I back up my models, pictures, animations, etc to CD every now and then, but the problem really lies within Lightwave itself. It's pretty much all I've got on my PC apart from Office XP and mame, but I've screwed it trying out all the third party free plugins and scripts nonsense. I suppose I'll have to sort out which plugins I want to keep and then wipe Lightwave completely once I've saved all the models and textures again. Bah!

Good news dear friends, I'm passing the O-Wing mesh to my friend along the street, something of a specialist in Star Wars style panelling and detailing. He'll see if the mesh misbehaves the same way as it does on my PC (I doubt it will) and then he'll have a bash at adding the final details. In return, I have to texture and animate a missile launcher he made, but I like missile animations anyway. I just love smoke and flame shooting out of stuff, it appeals to something very deep inside my twisted black heart. Results of both will hopefully be posted sometime soon...

Here's a look at the turret my pal Alan Hart has made and I've begun texturing and animating for him. It now tilts, spins and fires like a good'un, I just have to finish texturing it before I do an animation. As for the O-Wing, work proceeds apace. He's sent me pics of the reworked engines and they're looking good. He's busy micro-beveling all the panels and adding detail here and there, pictures when I get another update from him.

If you mean because we're so brilliant, we suck AND blow compared to the top guys out there. It's a damn shame, but then again they do it for a living many hours a day while we are merely amatuers of Olympic standard. If you mean because we're daft enough to spend so much of our free time doing this nonsense, it would indeed be nice to be paid vast sums of money for making these things. Rob, get yer wallet out any time you feel like donating to the Kenny/Alan beer fund, fees start at £478 a day per head, rising to £856.93 a day if we're feeling lazy. (I wish)

Of all the stuff he's made the Wing Commander ones seem to draw the fans out of the woodwork more than anything else. I think he's made one more, but there's a lack of decent blueprints available for the ships, and the last time someone requested he make one they sent him to a site filled with tiny blurry thumbnails as reference. Hopeless.
