Re: Something big
You still need to add the folding wing-guns. Man, those things have very long barrels. Are they the same length as an X-wing's guns, bigger or smaller? I never can scale well by eyeball.

Re: Something big
Don't look at me, I wouldn't be able to spot something like that
That said excellant work as always on the detail of the model. One of the things that always gets to me is just how exact you are on scale and referances, you really go out of you way to make these things "real" in terms of the physical size, not just making a ship and "saying" this is X meters long.

Re: Something big
Minor updates to the upper fuselage. There's really not much there on the model, and for once I think I'll basically keep it that way, since sleekness is a big part of the design appeal. The grille is kinda hard to see in the inset area under the top wing overhang, will need to deal with that...

Hey, if you're nearly done with the shuttle, and feel like somthing similar, you could have a stab at the Imperial Loader (I think that was it, basically the much fatter/longer Lambda) ?
This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

Re: Something big
Yeah, it's pretty big at this point. In no particular order, the things I've got started, considered doing, or am planning on definitely doing, at some point ... maybe
:
This list changes often in order and content, and I have no intention of setting any sort of deadline for any of them:
TIE Hunter
TIE Drone/Droid
Howlrunner
Skipray
Missile Boat
PulsarWing (ECR Hull 721 fanfic)
Gamma Assault Transport
Gamma Assault Shuttle
Delta Dx9 Stormtrooper Transport
Sentinel
Combat Utility Vehicle (shuttle/workpod/light cargo mover to complement my corvette)
Titan drop barge
Some light transport/dropship ideas that I have floating around
Container Transport (based loosely on the container transport from TIE Fighter, but a good deal bigger with the modularity done better)
Commercial/generic scifi tanker
Carrier (finish)
Heavy corvette (finish)
Some flavor of light corvette
Interdictor (Immobilizer 418)
Interdictor destroyer (either Dominator or I will make one up that's the same sort of idea)
Light cruiser (probably a variant of the Urbanus/Anon1 star cruiser mockup, continued and finished)
Fleet EW ship (light cruiser hull - strip out most of the guns, add many antennae, some gravity wells and shielding on a ship that's suddenly a lot lighter - becomes a very hard to kill stand-off jamming/grav-well platform)
Heavy assault transport (Corps-level)
Heavy frigate (Ecliptic or Acclamator II design lineage)
Eidolon
Carrack (or some variant thereof - I'll likely re-imagine the design a bit)
Lancer
Strike cruiser (possibly comparable ship in size and configuration, and not an actual Strike, which is worryingly turd-like)
Star Monitor
Dreadnaught (believe it or not Crossroads, I actually do have a mockup of this on my computer
).
Repulsortank/IFV (finish)
Light repulsortank
Galleon/Star Galleon
Escort carrier
Nebulon B
Mobile deepdock
Black Prince
Artillery (I won't commit to SPHA-T - but it'll probably end up something like it if I do it)
Catamaran axial superlaser destroyer (ECR's idea)
Light destroyer variants (Procursator hull, different roles and better detailing than the old weekend-job version)
Tector
Star battleship (Anon4 - finish)
Giel's battleship
Victory interpretation (have mockup)
LAAT/i and variants
Juggernaut (assuming a friend of mine doesn't get off his ass and finish his)
Customs corvette variants (and model revamp)

Only thing that disappoints me with that list is the lack of XQ series platforms, Exciting stuff none the less and in many ways is much larger than I expected.

GETTO EDIT:
Hey Fractal, I just found this:
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/atta ... 1284066862
I can't tell if someone is using your ships as "Inspiration" but don't see your name anywhere. And is that Other ship yours? it LOOKS like one of yours, but never seen it before.
EDIT: never mind, I tracked down the thread it came from HERE and the guy sites you right off

Re: Something big
coming along...

The composite uses some renders of my Bellator and Assertor, and Allegiance ... and ISD, and SSD. The big capital ship is not mine. I believe I am credited for the ISD at least; it's possible that I am credited for the others and it's just too small to read. What's the thread link? The original thread has a version of that image with just angles of the big ship but none of my ships except for the ISD, but I can't seem to find the one you linked.
I must say, watching that ... thing at SFM develop was a somewhat frustrating exercise in deja vu - it's like seeing your every idea replicated - in a way you wouldn't have chosen. I can't quite decide whether to be flattered or annoyed at his lack of vision. I imagine it's like a car designer watching his creation drive by, but someone's gone and fitted it with chrome spinning hubcaps, a dozen fake exhausts, and a gigantic wing.
EDIT: ah, I see the link - if you want to look at the "Ferocious" - here's JBHJBM's thread: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/show ... cort-fleet

Re: Something big
2.5 * 10^71 J
I'm guessing he means 2.5 * 10^71 W, but still that's a bit much... i mean how much did the DS1 generate!?
Not a bad design overall though, I do like the cones in place of the globes there, and the Escort cruiser is pretty cool.
The Shuttle reminds me of the Delta-Class JV-7 Escort Shuttle, not a fan of the TIE Warrior and the TIE Aggressor I recall as a rather different looking craft in SWG, but their Target profiles are a bit large imo.

I gotta say Fractal, you handle the guy ripping you off with amazing coolness. I'd be livid.

Re: Something big
Well he did Credit Fractal in the group pic, and mentioned fractal elsewhere in the thread. I'd say it's more Inspired both in style with the greeblies and the overall shape of the craft, as the Asserter class. Rather than a direct Ripoff.

Re: Something big
The usual way of doing credits is to add names directly to the image, rather than stated somewhere in the description. I've asked the guy who made the chart to credit everyone appropriately. It's a WIP at this stage, so I'm less annoyed than if it had been stated as complete.
As for the "Ferocious"... the numbers are stupid, but that's not unusual for fan design fluff; single shot DS1 was >>1e32J, so a 30(!)km star dreadnought should not be pulling down anything close to that from its main armament. I tried to discretely mention that he should be trying to do his own design rather than use mine and upscale it, but at least he's doing his own geometry and not ripping it from my v1 ISD mesh. It's not really very good detailing, except for maybe the cones (though it's a blasphemous idea), but it does work, visually, reasonably well when you zoom out on the whole thing and render it at low resolution. However, zoom in and it becomes significantly less pretty. The detailing is low-res, and patchy; greebles will be sparse in one area and overly dense in another, with jarring transitions between the two. Individual greebles lack edge beveling and depth. It's a facsimile, and in some ways a decent one, but not a good one; it's a compliment, in a way
.
The tri-wing shuttle is quite good. The TIEs look horrible (YMMV).

We are in the middle of a server upgrade and we ran into some issues, it should be up after the weekend, might move some things around on the site, but the files will be there
