It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

It sounds like they are making him more like he was when he was Sentinel. I rather liked that the power was contained within him. It seems only fair if he's going to be stuck with a weakness against wood.
I guess he'll faint at a gay night club?

Given he's gay as of the New 52 I rather suspect not. And so far it seems the wood weakness remains limited to the 'stuff trees are made out of' iteration.

'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'
Yeah, he's a gay superhero whose powers spring forth from his inner flame. The jokes just write themselves, really.

GLBF: "Don't worry, we've got half a box of them left..."

I totally missed the humor in my comment until I came back to read this thread again. I probably should have elaborated that having his power be internal instead of in a ring like the other GL's might be a fair trade off for having such a lame weakness.

well to be fair it's hardly the first time they've explored the angle
Wait until Carol hears that Hal got into Superman's pants...
Honestly, Alan Scott? That's the best DC could come up with? I'd argue he is more iconic than Northstar (and let's not kid ourselves that this is anything more than a way to keep up with Marvel on this front) but at least Northstar has been semi relevant lately. Alan Scott hasn't been important in ages except for being the father of one of Kyle Rayner's girlfriends.

Hell, this also cements the trend that dating Kyle Rayner is hazardous for a woman's health as this change relegates her to non-existence.

I kind of liked the design of his GL outfit but I'm not sure why he needs the ring if the power is going to be inside him. Still, it's a nice update on the style of the Golden Age ring.

the Sam's-about-to-get-fridged bit.
Sorry. I understood what you meant. I just sidetracked by the artwork further down. Spoiler
Yeah, it would be a bad idea if they killed off his lover in the first issue or so.

It would be worse if he hooked up with crossbow wielding Vigilante Chick from his rogues gallery like he did in old school universe, but in post 52 exploitational fashion say the first or second issue
