Our ships are currently using relatively inefficient antimatter reactors.

Would it be worthwhile to split the thread so as not to pollute the ORBAT listings with discussion? Or is this not the final list, and thus clutter-tolerant?

It will be the final list, but it's not worthwhile to split the thread until after all the OOB have been posted.

They'll probably make a final list after all of the listings are posted and all of the disputes people have with eachother over them are resolved.

I think this needs clarification: What is a major combatant?
This seems like a trivial distinction on the surface but it is really very important. I drew the line at heavy bombers/assault shuttles when I made my ORBAT. Nitram appears to classify corvettes as minor combatants. The consequences as they apply to power distribution now become quite acute, as he outnumbers me by over ten to one with my current stats.

*Grumbles* Darn it, now I'll have to rebalance the weapon loads. Oh well, I guess the ships would be more agile now that they are lugging around less mass...

And how many of those missiles will get through?

We've already had people proclaiming all cloaks useless, so I really doubt any missile weapons are going to last long.

Would you consider reducing the warhead size instead? I think you could get away with having thousands of missiles in the air (easily enough to overcome even the most insane point defense) if they were kiloton-range tacnukes and only added up to a few hundred megatons. A few hundred kiloton-range hits should maul just about anyone, but isn't enough to be completely overpowering. That's what the neutral beam laser is for.

I'll rebalance it towards light missiles for the really big ships, but my mines and bombs will retain their heavy hitting power.. A cruiser won't use those, but my fighters will. Sound goo to you?

Order Of Battle-Outworlds Alliance
Note: All OAN ships are equipped with steel/composite armour, ECM/ECCM equipment, and hull-hugging energy and particle shields.
Note: The OAN's capital ships (Destroyer size and above) are generally concentrated above the capital planet, Muad'dib. The border, however, is constantly patrolled by pickets and Mudjahedeen class frigates.
Ship descriptions
Martyr-Class Heavy Cruiser (9)
Specifications
Length: 1000m
Armament: 1 Grade-1 Heavy Mass Driver (40 megatons) (fire-rate: 10 RPM)
50 Grade-2 Anti-Ship Missile batteries (500 kilotons)(fire-rate: 30 RPM)
100 Anti-Missile Close In Weapon Systems. (CIWS)
Fighter Capacity: 70 Vulture Class fighters.
Description: This class of vessel is the oldest heavy warship in the Outworlds Alliance Fleet, and this is reflected in the fact that it is lightly armed and slow, (though capable of reaching FTL speeds using a Star-Wars style hyperdrive.) partly because of its heavy armour.
FTL Speed: 5000c
Caliph-Class Destroyer (40)
Specifications
Length: 800m
Armament: 5 Grade-2 Medium Particle Cannons (25 Megatons) (Fire-rate: 15 RPM)
10 Grade-2 Heavy Mass Drivers (30 Megatons) (Fire-rate: 10 RPM)
10 Grade-2 Anti-Ship Missile batteries(500 kilotons)(Fire-rate: 30 RPM)
50 CIWS
Fighter Capacity: 20 Vulture Class fighters.
Description: Built after the last of the Martyr class, the Caliph class was meant to provide comparable performance, while being far smaller, more maneuverable and more effectively armed. The power problems which accompanied the Martyr class were not an issue for this design, due to more advanced power plant design.
FTL Speed: Same as above.
Saladin-Class Picket (99)
Length: 200m
Armament: n/a
Fighter Capacity: n/a
Description: These small vessels patrol the Alliance’s borders, and are equipped with extensive ECM equipment, with the result that the ships are hard to detect using conventional sensors.
FTL Speed: Same as above.
Xerxes-Class Heavy Cruiser (25)
Length: 1200m
Armament: 10 Grade-1 Heavy Particle Cannons(40Megatons)(Fire-rate:15RPM)
20 Grade-3 Light Particle Cannons (15 Megatons) (Fire-rate: 15 RPM)
50 Grade-2 Anti-ship Missile batteries (500 kilotons) (Fire-rate: 30 RPM)
100 CIWS
Fighter Capacity: 30 Vulture Class fighters.
Description: The second most heavily armed warship in the Alliance’s fleet, the Xerxes class is also one of the most modern, with units still in production. This design is provided with enough armour and shielding to survive prolonged combat with enemy vessels of similar armament levels.
FTL Speed: Same as above.
Mujahadeen-Class Frigate (215)
Length: 200m
Armament: 10 Grade-3 Light Particle Cannons (As above) (As above)
20 Grade-3 Anti-Starfighter missile batteries (200 kilotons) (30 RPM)
20 CIWS
Fighter Capacity: n/a
Description: The most common warships in the Alliance fleet, these destroyers are designed to operate independantly of supply lines and bases, needing only fuel and food to stay running. The ships carry enough of both of these to stay in space for several years before taking on additional supplies. While their main purpose is to patrol the Alliance's borders, they are more often seen providing a screen for larger capital ships.
Vulture-Class Fighter (Hundreds)
Length: 14m
Armament: 1 Grade-6 Ultralight Particle Cannon (20 Kilotons) (Fire-rate: 80 RPM)
Fighter Capacity: n/a (Obviously)
Description: The only space-capable fighter of the Outworlds Alliance, the Vulture is not equipped with FTL technology, and is designed to operate exclusively from Capital ships or bases. (As opposed to the larger fighters of some factions, which can operate independantly)
Zealot-Class Dreadnought (9)
Length: 5000m
Armament: 50 Grade-1 Heavy particle Cannons (40 Megatons) (15 RPM)
100 Grade-2 Medium Particle Cannons (25 Megatons) (15 RPM)
150 Grade-3 Light Particle Cannons (15 Megatons) (15 RPM)
200 Anti-Starfighter missile batteries (200 kilotons) (30 RPM)
200 CIWS
Fighter Capacity: 100 Vulture-Class fighters.
Description: The Zealot class Dreadnought is the most powerful ship in the Alliance fleet, with only 9 units in operation. These colossal vessels are slow and have poor manueverability, but their (Comparitively) heavy firepower allows them to hold off enemy vessels of comparable size with ease.
FTL Speed: 3000c
Martyr-II-Class Carrier (3 in Production)
Length: 1100m
Armament: 5 Grade-2 Medium Particle Cannons (See above) (See above)
100 CIWS
50 Anti-Starfighter missile batteries (200 kilotons) (30 RPM)
Fighter Capacity: 150 Vulture-Class fighters.
Description: The Martyr-II is, unsurprisingly, based on the virtually defunct Martyr class Heavy Cruiser. This new iteration of the class boasts larger hanger bays, which come at the expense of the vessel's weapon systems.

My Fleet Train? Given the Mod has no problem with me having a suitably large fleet train(My entire civilization is a convoy), I'm keeping it. It's not like they will be in a single engagement, or even a single section of space.

You mean the fleet train that's classified as corvettes and not mentioned as being such? That would be the issue yes. No one else is declaring heavy armaments for there AOE's and bulk haulers.

A Corvette, something often mentioned as being 'barely a capital ship', is a heavy warship?

SirNitram wrote:A Corvette, something often mentioned as being 'barely a capital ship', is a heavy warship?
A Frigate or a Destroyer (when using the designations properly) aren't heavy warships either. But they're still major combatants. Why don't we just say that anything that performs an analagous combat role bigger than a torpedo boat is a major combatant
