You can't counterspell it with magic, the magic of the spell just gets added to the drain a little ahead of time. Besides, why are you griping, the Gridfire Hadoken is a combination of chi and hyperspatial energy, and is thus unaffected(unless its some new unprecedented attack corrupting the hadoken name), and the protection from Culturevrse only applied to me.

Where exactly is Hadoken a spell? A normal hadoken is environmental chi gathered together and chucked at someone(ref. Street fighter game Manuals).
