Yeah, but he was a Jedi first.
Which makes him just as much of an Imperial Jedi as Corran would be.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Aside from Vader, you guys are forgetting Brakiss, and Joruus C'Baoth, and Carnor Jax (From the Crimson Empire comic).
Alright, so Jax wasn't really a Jedi. But he was still a Force adept.
And quit hating on Corran.

"Whats up with Corran Horn and why is he hated?"

<rant>
He HAS telekinesis! He gets it for free with his ability to absorb
enormous amounts of energy (he's better at that than most Jedi). To go
with that he's talented at telepathy (he's better at that than most
Jedi), mind tricks (he's better at that than most Jedi) and lightsaber
fighting (he's better at that than most Jedi). Did you ever read the
end of the book? I burst out laughing and could not stop - what a Deus
Ex Machina. What utter crap.
If you read the book through you see that the first part indeed is a
rehash of the KJA novel. But there is a significant change - every
important plot point is orchestrated or solved by Corran (or with the
critical aid of Corran). Aside from his inability to wield
Telekinesis, Corran is der Über-Meister. He even defeats Skywalker in
lightsaber training. If that had been a fanfic, every beta reader
would have cried Mary Sue, and rightly so.

I must confess, though, that I actually liked the first X-wing series
book (Rogue Squadron), and I thought Wedge's Gamble was ok. Then I read
The Krytos Trap, and started hating Horn with all my heart. I still
remember how I threw the book away after reading about Horn becoming a
Jedi. Disgusting. I bought Bacta War anyway, just to see if it were any
better, but no sir, just more crap. I later re-read the first two books
and realised they too sucked. As of now, I'm thinking about using them
as toilet paper when I run out next time. Or perhaps I'll just have a
nice bonfire in the garden. Yuck.
I could rave for hours about all the things I hate with the Rogue
Squadron books in general and Corran Horn in particular, but I've a
feeling I'd be filling up a lot of space.
> I, Jedi

Well, I can't honestly say that I've read "I, Jedi"; I stopped reading
after the first few chapters, when I realised that it was going to be
another egosexual tale about Horn. I nearly laughed when I read about
that dogfight in the beginning, where a pirate challenges Horn to a
head-on duel with lasers only. Horn accepts, but, however, figures that
since the pirate is a pirate, and, well, probably has committed
terrible crimes, he's morally justified to cheat and vape the pirate
with a pair of torpedoes. Not only did he lie and cheat and make
prejudiced assumptions, he also feels good about it afterwards. The
self-righteousness of it makes me sick.

God. The smug little bastard. I want to see him go up against Fel.
Come on, lets see you weasel your way out of _that_, Horn.

Heh. If my novel could get published as is, Horn would die messily each
chapter.

Yeah, I liked the Allston books. They seemed more in keeping with the tone
of the series. Whereas Stackpole was Writing an SF Biggles book in a
poe-faced serious manner, Allston realised they were meant to be
lighthearted "fun reads" and gave us exactly that. Plus we no ;longer had
to put up with Corran Horn, Mary-Sue extraordinaire.

It seems safe enough to say that I'm not the only one having a problem
with Corran.
If the above isn't enough, consider this: rendered in the new RPG system,
Corran's level is 19. That's higher than Luke. Or, in other words, to do what
Corran routinely does, you'd have to create a munchkin character more
powerful than the main über-character of Star Wars.
Nice, eh?

Naah... he had some Force Lightning, but otherwise was overconfident and weak, for which he was pretty much bitchslapped by Luke.

"I, Jedi was, IMHO, one of the best and most unique EU ever written."
That's all right, we can't all have good taste.
"Don't force me to gather the uncountable Corran fanboys from are the net and invite them here."
Even you feel dirty after talking to them, huh?
