When do they surf supernovae and at what distance? (Apollo Eleven could do it at a great enough distance, Inverse square law..)
And I never was impressed by the GCU (yes it was) hiding in the outer layers of the star. A Trade Federation Battleship can do that, for an unlimited (until it runs out of fuel anyway) amount of time.
I thought the twin novae was in two seperate systems?
In any case that is still four novae during the war unnaccounted for.

I clearly remember it being mentioned in one of the novels. "Excession", I think.NecronLord wrote:Actually that's blatantly untrue. See the Iridian war, supernovas are dangerous to the culture. Eddy, please explain to me how a Jedi or Sith will Mind Trick a Culture Mind when they can't even Mind Trick friggin Watto.
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!

Because for some odd reason they like us. It cost them next to nothing to manage the Culture and it benefits them so why shouldn't they?Eddy the Very Great wrote:Still, even if taking care of the humans is as easy as breathing, would you still breath if you didn't have to?I don't consider a Mind to be "Weak-willed"

The only naturally occuring things that can harm a GCU would be a black hole or a white hole. I guess that excludes supernovae since it is said that a GCU can survive them with some minor adjustments to the fields.fgalkin wrote:I clearly remember it being mentioned in one of the novels. Well I'd have to see something that shows Force users doing such feats, my knowledge of the EU is limited due to my disliking of most of the books.Eddy the Very Great wrote:OK, so one Jedi couldn't mind trick a culture mind, but to claim that the entire Force is weaker than a single culture mind is ignoring an important point of SW.

The entire Force is existance, of course its more powerful than anything anyone could ever make. A Jedi that has the full ability to wield the Force could wipe out existance.Eddy the Very Great wrote:OK, so one Jedi couldn't mind trick a culture mind, but to claim that the entire Force is weaker than a single culture mind is ignoring an important point of SW.
But since no Jedi/Sith has the ability to wield the entirety fo the Force, or even a microscopic fraction of it, the Culture wins.

No, the Force is more powerful. But frankly anything the Jedi, Sith or a John Q Force-user is going to be stopped, and hard, by the Culture. Unless the Force itself decides to intervene the Empire is fucked.Eddy the Very Great wrote:OK, so one Jedi couldn't mind trick a culture mind, but to claim that the entire Force is weaker than a single culture mind is ignoring an important point of SW.

Hmmm, interesting but wrong. The Culture is comparible to the Galactic Empire as the Galactic Empire would be comparible to ancient Egypt. Oh, and welcome to SD.NET. Be careful of what you post on this site, for you will be held immediately accountable for all of it, and many here are not so nice as I.Eddy the Very Great wrote:I'd say that the Empire wins. They have the Force. I know that in a straight fight they would lose, but if Vader infiltrated the culture the way Palpatine took control of the Republic, then the GE could win. The culture can't be that stable. It's a galaxy wide anarchy. It would take relatively little topple them.

If the Culture is the US, then the Homomdan Empire is the USSR, the Chinese are the Idirans, the mugger on the corner of Fifth and Main is the Galactic Empire, and the bum he's curb-stomping is the UFP.
