Name A Classic Rock Song That Has Aged Poorly And Why

Post by Raw Shark »

I'll start off with, "Georgy Girl," by The Seekers. The central message is, "Hey Babe, you get a man if you dressed better." Don't tell Georgy how to dress, she's a grown-ass woman with agency.

I'm going to continue down this road (hahaha) with, "Vehicle," by Tom Jones. He literally offers a young lady candy to take a ride with him. What kind of white van with no windows are you driving here, sir? Stranger danger!

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

Motley Crue - Kickstart my Heart. Implied speeding, racing, drugs, and wild girls.

Considering the song was written after they HAD to "kickstart his heart" because he went into cardiac arrest from an overdose? Yeah....

I mean, yeah Nikki Six did actually die. For a couple of minutes. Kids reading this: Don't inject vodka. Bad idea.

I still find it hilarious that "Shout AT the Devil" was one of the SatanicPanic's triggers.

But let's look at Poison's "I want Action"
Long legs and short skirts
A-these girls hit me where it hurts
I can't wait to get my hands on them
I won't give up until they give in

Now I'm not lookin' for a love that lasts
I need a shot and I, I need it fast
If I can't have her, I'll take her and make her!

Mr. Tinkertrain - Ozzy Osbourne
Would you like some sweeties little girl?
Come a little closer
I'm gonna show you a brand new world tonight
I've got a palace full of fantasy
Ready made just for you and me
Once you're there I'm gonna take you for a ride
It's only you sit down and read these lyrics, you realise how rapey so many of these bands were.

Like what the fuck?

In some of those bands mild defense, I've heard people call each other 'little boy'/'little girl', when both were adults, and even the one being called 'little' was older by more then a few years.

However, yes, taken as a blanket statement, some of those lyrics are 'wtf, dude!'
