CetaMan wrote: 2017-11-26 04:23pm So do you view the Mandator as having the curved humpback of Anon Star Cruiser 4 or a more emphasized version of the Bellator/Alliegence hump. Funny how the Legator is Anon Battleship 4 while the generally used hunchback Mandator is Anon Cruiser 4. Causes some confusion during discussions...
I haven't concepted out a Mandator in details, but I envision it as being a relatively fat and wide dagger - more arrowhead really, with a center spine like the Assertor flanked by some cityscape like Executor, but much tidier and more under armor. It would have an Legator-style bridge, and a distinct fantail aft rather than the Legator's kite plan, and of course an enormous reactor bulb. The profile would be humpbacked overall, but this would be built up from smaller bits of superstructure; I don't envision it having the overall curves or the solid whaleback top from evillejedi's version.
At 12 km, it can't be that fat. It's something like 78x ISD power generation (from the 1000 recusants), probably closer to 50 times the size, and 7.5 times the length. It's not Executor skinny, but it's pretty close.
1000 Recusants is Mandator II @8km. Mandator III would be 12km. I never liked the 8km figure in any event.

Oh, huh. Mandator-II is still skinner than as ISD then, but not much. At 12 km, and broad, you have to projecting a Mandator-III at something around 600 petatons alpha arc. An executor could probably achieve a similar amount if you did a Tector type conversion of it.
The other Anon Battleships are probably similar (I scale Anon 2 to about 500 petatons), and Anon 3 to about 100.

Something similar to the girth of Star Battleship #2 http://www.theforce.net/swtc/dagger.html#battleship2 for the Mandator III? If the overhang was closed or lessened it looks like a precursor to the Assertor

Yeah, maybe cut away a little bit from the aft ventral section, and add a spine and a prominent tower.

Some ideas on the anon Battleships
Anon-II is clearly similar to a Assertor, only seemingly smaller. Meanwhile, Anon-III appears to be a dwarf Executor.

So, here would be my guesses on sizes, firepower, and roles
Anon-II: Praefulgidor? (Old republic, probably 19 BBY, 12 total made) (They're big ships, and would likely see little use outside strategic formations like Azure Hammer)

11 km long, 210 ISD volume more or less, 250 times firepower, 2600g, 3000 fighters. This thing is big, and functionally speaking probably slow. A predecessor to the Assertor, and less useful generally.

Executor (Imperial, 2 BBY, 15 total)
17.5 km, 182 ISD volume, 118 times firepower, 3400g, 52,000 fighters. The only surprising one here should be fighter count. Still, I have reasons for disagreeing with the established wisdom by 300fold. The executor is a huge ship. Scaling from a star destroyer, at 180 ISD volume, it should have 13,000 fighters. From a Venator, 140,000. 52,000 seems about right for a ship that has a moderate but not overwhelming emphasis on carrier functions.

Assertor (Imperial, 1 ABY, 3 total)
15 km, 300 ISD volume, 405 times firepower, 2750g, 4000 fighters. Self explanatory. An updated Anon-II, bigger and better, probably very few made.

Anon-III/Bajulator (old republic, 68 BBY, 25 total)

12 km, 67 ISD volume, 38 times firepower, 3200g, 60,000 fighters. ECR calls this the Conducor, but I think Bajulator seems the obvious name. Massive, open bottomed, bigger than a Mandator-II with a fraction of the firepower, this thing is a true carrier, though it still has the guns to kill a Bellator. Fighter complement has to be huge, for that bay to make any sense. Small enough that it might be deployed to Regions, but it seems largely a ship without a mission. It's a battleship trying to imitate a light destroyer, and it doesn't work well.

Mandator-III (Imperial, 14 BBY, 110 total)
12 km long, 135 ISD volume, 178 times firepower, 3000g, 3,000 fighters. A ship in between the dreadnoughts and the battleships like the Praetor and Mandator-II, decent strategic niche, possibly fastish. Similar to the Praefulgidor and Assertor, only thinned out, sped up, a smaller ship for Regional rather than Oversector operations.

Just because it uses some ship names? If you want to make your own orders of battle please make another thread.

More crew=more waste.

Also, Han wasn't trying to escape from the other classes, just ISDs.

It was purely a plot thing. Most ships should have highly efficient recycling systems. And what they can't process onboard shouldn't be that much, and you wouldn't want to just dump it. They just needed a way for falcon to get away.

I always figured the "trash" we see is them dumping the remains of rebel transports that were scooped up and analyzed, probably to see if any computer records survived. They don't need the debris anymore, so they're getting rid of it.

It also explains why the Falcon blended in with it. It's a bunch of blasted out junk.

For all intents and purposes, so is the Falcon, with the important distinction of being functional junk.

That actually works well as a reason.

And they probably sell the records of such dump sites to salvage crews who grab everything and recycle it. Such ships probably have molecular forge tech the world devastators and the urban renewal droids do. (Or at least that's how I'm gonna frame it in my star wars RP games from now on. :P )

Imperial Leviathen Factory ships, probably sweep battle sites after for debris along with their escorts.

Is it weird that I'm slightly more forgiving of the First Order's dreadnought now? It wasn't as bad as I expected...but at the same time it's use and implementation was *horrible*. Fractal, your thoughts remain the same on that subject?

I hate it more. There were parts of the detailing that looked even worse than I expected, especially in the prow which got a close up section during Poe's stupid godmode approach run. All of my old complaints about it still hold after I've seen it on the big screen. I liked Snoke's boomerang and the mon cal, and the resurgent even more after this movie though.

TLJ had some strong stuff especially around the characters, but the space battles and the stuff associated with them were generally speaking disasters.
