Daring move by the last Austrian fleet there, they may not be quite out of the game yet, why I was taking no chances with France myself, but, there will be no more dark blue on map when the next turn rolls around.
Then of course we'll demonstrate what we think of your stalemate Spoonist

This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

Heh there was nothing else for that fleet to do other than ATTACK!
Marcus Aurelius: ...the Swedish S-tank; the exception is made mostly because the Swedes insisted really hard that it is a tank rather than a tank destroyer or assault gun
Ilya Muromets: And now I have this image of a massive, stern-looking Swede staring down a bunch of military nerds. "It's a tank." "Uh, yes Sir. Please don't hurt us."

To Glory indeed, if you somehow survive until I get there, I am damn well going to help you put Austria back together out of respect for those huge chrome plated balls of yours.

Nah, he is cute, I've decided to keep him for a while. Its just a fleet and every evil genious needs his pet.
Since its his first time and all I thought it would be a nice touch if he got to stay until the end.
Now atg has the age-old dilemma. Does he try to bounce me in Venice or doesn't he? It's time to flip that coin...
Heads:
He goes to Venice in the hope that Rome is also heading there for a bounce, but risks losing what he has gained if I don't go there.
Tails:
He stays in Trieste in the hope that Rome doesn't go to Venice, but risks losing what he has gained if I do go there.
Good luck.
There is another cointoss for Russia in the east. So good luck with that as well.
You see the trouble is that it might be nourishing but they didn't really put up a fight, now did they?

Your biggest achievements so far is picking a country as far away from turkey as possible...
The rest is other player's failures, not your achievements...
Actually in dippy tournaments a lot of players toss coins/roll dice in those situations to remove the analyzis paralyzis...atg wrote:What do I do what do i do WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Spoonist wrote:Good luck.

In other news I've managed to win a different game on the play dip website. I've upgraded to not-quite-so-noob ignore the several games i crashed and burned whilst learning...

And so die France and Germany.
But now England and the Ottomans are right next to each-other in former German territory. This should be interesting
(oh, and Austria got back Trieste while Italy continues to chill out in that little corner of the peninsula)

Re: SDN Diplomacy - part III - commentary thread
I am amused that technically Italy is still around, and that North Africa is unclaimed still, but yes, the great war can now finally begin!

Re: SDN Diplomacy - part III - commentary thread
Can one even claim 'North Africa' anyway? The Turks have been in Tunisia for awhile now, one would think they would have taken it
And I commented on how amusing Italy's continued 'survival' (if one can call it that) was awhile back
EDIT: And the 'Pseudo-Great War/World War 1' should be interesting. Britain (with France/Spain/Portugal's land behind it), a rump-state Russia and an equally small Austria, versus a monster Ottoman Empire. This is going to be fun
(while Italy chills out and watches)

Re: SDN Diplomacy - part III - commentary thread
Yes, you claim it by moving a unit onto the North Africa area, just no nation has done so yet, since Italay, and then the Turks both just plonked a convoy straight to Tunisa.

Yeah, I looked back at the start and all the brown land on the first map
That being said, I wonder how this new Alliance fares against the Turkish horde.

Re: SDN Diplomacy - part III - commentary thread
Its 5vs5 with some defensive fleet support. I'd be suprised if it went anywhere but a little bit back and forth until someone can get another unit to the front.
What is interesting is how long englands benevolence versus russia will hold. And how long turkeys benevolence of austria will hold.
If there is a stalemate between russia and turkey which seems likely, and then if the west wing becomes another stand-off then that is a sure way for the two minors to get shafted by the big guys. England is poised to take scandinavia in one move, and turkey could take out austria in two moves.
