Yeah, that's why I tend to avoid the guys I know I need to aim for weak spots to pen. Take my T-150...until I get the 107 I have to avoid most heavies my tier (even the relatively lightly armored KV-1S), because while my gun is accurate for a Russkie cannon, the tank its mounted on is too slow to take advantage of that.

(I'm using the 85mm)

EDIT: Or rather...avoid them in anything other than an L/70 armed VK 3601/3002DB.

Last night, after a long loosing streak with my IS-2, I had one of my best games ever. Almost 5k exp (double experience included), 90k monies and 6 or 7 badges. Looking at the list, next to killing 8 guys, I must have damaged or at least spotted each member of the other team.

Yeah, it's a real shame that they put the high tier stuff behind a paywall, I wouldn't mind a refresher on the hitboxes for various modules for clan wars, but other than that it's excellent, and I think it's using the actual ingame hitboxes.

Still quite awhile off...but when I get the KV-3, should I go towards the 107 that carries over from the T-150, or the 122 that comes from the KV-1S?

Sorry if I distracted you in that game or something. I just saw your screen name there and automatically thought of you here. So, I thought I'd give a shout out. I used to platoon a lot with Mr. Coffee back in beta.

The 122mm. Pretty much all of the heavy tank guns of the Soviet line derive from that line, with the exception of the super-107 on the KV-4.

So I have 2k experience on the M4 E2 (Jumbo) until I have enough to unlock the T 20. I already have the M6 unlocked.

Which American line do you guys recommend? My favorite tanks are the VK 3601 H, the KV-1 S and I'm really enjoying the Jumbo if that helps at all. Thanks!

< is Seffs in WoT. Also most other places.

And no worries, it happens. The important thing is that rocking it T6 style appeared to work. And you seem to have better spacial awareness and target selection than the usual random pubbie, so that's a plus.

I'm likely keeping the Heavy Churchill and the VK3601 on a permanant basis, so yell if you feel like platooning up again.

Nope, don't even know how to do it.

In other news, I'm glad to be out of the Covenantor. Some people might like it, but I felt it was only good for dying.

&;Man the 105 on the m46 really makes that tank shine. I'm going to finally get my panther 2 to see what ane50 can do with its 105. Not to go all German whine but why is the German heavy tank 105 so anemic by comparison lol.I wanted to grind for the c centurion, already got as far as the cromwell but reading about the comet sounds painful.

M6 and the American heavy line if you like battering, positional combat. The Jumbo isn't the worst training for the M6 now that I think about it (I took the M3-T1-M6 path myself; I like the Lee). Like the Jumbo, the M6 has strong frontal armor, high, weak sides on the hull, and a couple of decent guns for its tier. The M6 packs more punch at full upgrade, and it's a bit slower, but the same "front towards enemy" aspect still applies.

If you like agility and use of terrain, go for the T20 and the American medium line. Be advised that NO American medium after the M4A3E2 has the kind of armor protection relative to its tier that the E2 has; they play a lot more like the E8. Your goal should be to shoot, scoot, use cover to hide chunks of your hull, and if possible never even let the enemy draw a bead on you to put shots through your thin, thin armor.

About the only part of an American medium that stands much chance of stopping shots from a same-tier gun is the gun mantlet.

Everyone keep saying that, but the problem is, I'm not finding the game 'fun' in that role.

I play a German TD line now, and has upgraded it to the Marder. The difference is immense, even without the sloped armour the Hetzer offers. With a 'proper' TD, I feel like I at least has some cover and concealment, a relatively large tranverse and an effective gun. It sucks sometimes when I get caught badly out of position but even though I don't really like that playstyle, I get some fun out of it.

With the Lee, especially with the MM, I feel like I'm pissing at enemy tanks at long range, only for me to be wiped out when the enemy closes. Maneveurability doesn't count much when you can't shoot at the enemy and I just can't master the driving skills to get my tank 'moving' efficiently in a Lee. Its like, all the skills I learnt as a medium tank isn't applicable, and all the 'caveats' I learnt as a TD doesn't apply at all.

Yep, that's how I run mine, the top 76mm is nice, but not, in my opinion, worth losing over a hundred mm of turret side armor for.

The increased firing rate has saved me more then once though! And as your turret is going to be pointed towards the bad guys shooting at you, the loss of side turret armour isn't as bad as you might think.

I can say the same thing regarding the thicker turret, it has saved me more than once, and since I have a 100% crew, vents, and a rammer, the 105's rate of fire isn't THAT bad. I've run the Jumbo both ways, and it seems like I do a lot better with the thick turret and 105.

Watching this nice tutorial vid. Quite learnful. For instance, I wasn't even aware your rectangle changes color depending on the chance of armor penetration

Wow. I was just getting fed up with the Crusader and about to declare it a useless tank, far inferior to my other tier-5 tanks which I've always done better in, and then I go ahead and do this:
Crusader-score.jpg
Crusader-score.jpg (18.84 KiB) Viewed 2662 times
But to be honest, I'm still not a big fan of this tank. I prefer my T-34 at this tier. This huge medal haul is more a function of the other team's staggering incompetence than my own expertise.
