At one point, the Calathonians were very interested in space-travel, but they became isolationist and tried to stay on their own planet. Also, Chris-El was the ONLY scientist who knew of the doom of Calathon. The planet's age was beginning to show, and the planet's sun was dying and exhausting energy. Also, the Calathonians were respected and feared by most races, due to the considerable advances in technology they made.
