so telling Stas you called one of his Socialist Brothers an imperialist state.

If they didn't want to be called Imperialist, they shouldn't have taken colonies halfway around the world. And stationed fleets at them.

And, seriously, 15 destroyers, 5 cruisers, and 2 armored cruisers are a "large warfleet"? And Karmic's fleet's pretty old anyway.
Then I wouldn't have had any trouble knocking it over, now, would I? All the less reason for it to be there in the first place.
Plus, if its a good harbour, I'd have wanted it for my own fleets in the area.

The size of the fleet aside I will go with this: Unless someone claim it specifically I think we are all operating under the assumption that historic colonies retain the historic European masters. Thus most of the islands in the Caribbean would belong to a European power unless it is specifically stated otherwise. Thus Bean and I had to figure a buyout plan for the BVI and I waged a brief war against the French for Antigua while also helping Spain against the US in 1898 so as to gain Puerto Rico and the USVI.
In other words to Ryan if it was a European colony and you didn't specifically claim it then it ain't yours.
Don't be obtuse. Obviously I was
not operating under that assumption, because if I had been, I would've claimed it from the get go. Trinidad and Tobago have been separate countries from Venezuela for quite some time, so I claimed them separately. I did
not expect to have a foreign naval base 300 km from my capital because I assumed that a speck of land inside my economic exclusion zone was as good as mine.
