The quote box is still on the bottom in subSilver, but I'm going to try the new silver theme.

Forgive me if this was addressed elsewhere, but will the low bandwidth version of the board be returning? Right now it's 404.

I cant remember what its called but I’d really like that black and orange theme we had before from like the very start of the existence of the board, it’s the only one I ever used and I really don’t like any of the current options.

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
I have a question about the new alignment options. I'm at work so I just used the new commands to repeat my old setup, but I've now got a single space in front of the first letter of the text on left. I imagine this is a part of the margin Mike talked about to prevent it looking naff, but in this case that margin isn't actually where the image is because it's aligned right (technically floated, but anyway). My code looks like this
_ text etc here .... IMG HERE
^--- space here grr!
Anyone got some advice? It's obviously not a critical issue, and the new float options should allow me to actually stack images on the right now which is pretty cool.

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
Mike had to pretty much do that himself, and phpBB 3 is pretty different from phpBB 2. It might take awhile for him to be able to implement it.FSTargetDrone wrote:Forgive me if this was addressed elsewhere, but will the low bandwidth version of the board be returning? Right now it's 404.

I think that would be the Millennium Falcon theme. And yes I miss it too, I don't like the new ones.Sea Skimmer wrote:I cant remember what its called but I’d really like that black and orange theme we had before from like the very start of the existence of the board, it’s the only one I ever used and I really don’t like any of the current options.
Also I seem to be unable to get my sig picture to work. Is it because it's taller than 100pixels? (I figured out the float thing, and it's great.)

I must now go and berate someone for removing this nifty feature on another board with extreme haranguingness.

Get rid of that ridiculous 640 pixel width limit on inlined images.

What do you think it should be? No limit? Or just a larger number?MKSheppard wrote:Get rid of that ridiculous 640 pixel width limit on inlined images.

1048 width would be sufficient.

What about people like me who only run at 1024*768 ?MKSheppard wrote:1048 width would be sufficient.
Would it be a good idea to run a poll to see what resolution everyone runs, then use its results to decide the max width of images ?

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
So scale it. Does phpbb 3 have the function where inlined images are replaced by thumbnails until clicked? I have no real problem with the idea that no image larger than 640 can be loaded simply by browsing a thread, because picspam is fucking annoying. I've seen several forums where images are linked via thumbnails of various sizes to the full-size image, and this is a better solution that 'woe are people on tiny monitors'.
I can't imagine a circumstance where a 1024 image is ever required to be inlined. If it's a thumbnail (even a 640 thumbnail), people can still see it and 'get the point' and people who want to view the large version can do so without pissing off people who don't want to put up with screens of aimless drivel images. I have no idea how much image scaling this would require at Mike's server end, however, which would be a killer.

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
Didn't clicking on the stardestroyer.net logo up top previously go to the main site?
Not that it matters very much, but it was handy to have the link to the main site like that, especially since there is already a "Board index" link back to the front page of the board right below the Stardestroyer.net picture/link. Unless I'm just not seeing another link to the main site somewhere else.
I notice that the "Logout USER" link has been moved back up the top. I think the other day it was near the "Moderators" heading on each page, at the upper left, but I think it makes more sense to have it where it is now.

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
Mike any chance of movement on new themes soon? Several possibles were suggested in this thread. Having zero knowledge about the back-end systems of a UBB3 board I can't say that adding a new theme to an existing board should be THAT hard.
But if it is please correct me, I log-in every day hoping for a new theme to get me off this dang bluetrip.

I'd be fine with prosilver in Millennium Falcon colours. I would like to have the layout back the way it was, but barring that, having the same colours would be sufficient.

Re: Massive Version 3 upgrade
OK, I created a MillenniumFalcon skin for BlackSoul. You can preview it by right-clicking here and instructing your browser to open the link in a new window or tab.
EDIT: Shit! I just discovered that only admins can use the "preview style" feature. For everyone else, that link just goes right back to BlackSoul. I need to figure out if there's a way to override this restriction, because I need to do so in order to make the low-bandwidth version work without creating the same kind of extensive software modification I did last time.
It's not quite the same as completely reconstructing the MillenniumFalcon theme with its slightly different screen proportions and icon set, but it works. New icons and a new template would be a lot more work, not just now but also in future updates where I have to go through each style and update them individually.
PS. If things look funny in BlackSoul, try hitting the "refresh" button. I made a couple of minor alterations to BlackSoul in order to accomodate the use of its template in MillenniumFalcon. Those alterations are invisible once you hit "refresh".
Remaining items on the to-do list:

I agree with your reasoning. They're just clutter and don't really add anything useful to the board, so I killed them.Destructionator XIII wrote:I think you should consider getting rid of the online/offline tags on each post.

Thanks for bringing back MillenniumFalcon. Out of curiosity, how easy would it be to use the images from the original theme instead of the BlackSoul images? They just don't seem to... fit.

Is there a way to allow embedding of media? Like makes a button appear that, if you click expands to be the screen for the embedded media that you linked to in between the youtube tags?

I honestly wouldn't support the embedding of rich media content in the board. A simple link should suffice.Ender wrote:Is there a way to allow embedding of media?
