I agree. The Jedi Knights should've been a combination of spies, saboteurs, special forces, commandos, strategists and officer consultants (using long-term clarvoyance and battle meditation etc to aid in intel and strategic, tactical, and operational planning), a handful of qualified general officers (Jedi who serve in military as career officers and are qualified to be generals, rather than Jedi being automatically generals), etc.

Depending on how clouded their perceptions are from the Dark Side, they may not be all that effective for strategic or operational intelligence. I agree with everything else.

One Clone Wars comic actually dealt with a Jedi Master who sneaked inside a Separatist cloning facility and dealt quite astonishing losses over a small period of time all alone all the while being tracked by at least two Dark Jedi, the elite of Anzati assassins and whatever Morgukai warrior clones they could throw at him.

However, Tholme is the closest thing to a wetwork specialist among the known Jedi of the Clone Wars period. The guy had trained under Anzati assassins himself and was a remarkably cold-blooded bastard in some of his appeareances. Wouldn't have minded seeing this side of the character explored in more detail.

Certainly, it would have been somewhat more interesting than the sexual tension with Treebeard's daughter.
