It's better to just ignore Gojira. He's just an insecure moron with a thesaurus and has no real argument to speak of.
Funny enough, when I called him on the fact that he has over twenty-three thousand posts on that forum alone, he claimed he was getting paid.

This is just annoying, when I call out the two guys that stepped in without knowing what they were dealing with by saying that they weren't helping matters, one of the guys has implied that I'm getting personal with him. I don't have any problems with him, he just doesn't seem to get it with regard to that thread
Indeed, when confonted on his statement about 'quality over quantity' he spewed out his love for Shakesphere. As if pooring over Shakesphere for meaning is any less geeky than the analyization of modern day entertainment.TC Pilot wrote:It's better to just ignore Gojira. They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Ha! I bought the complete works of Shakespeare and read and enjoyed most of his plays, and am thus the only person interested in Julius Caesar when we read it in class (though that terrible voicetrack she plays makes even me nod off). I also enjoy chess and read 600+ page novels in two days if they're good. By his standards, I could compete with a university graduate.

It seems that JMSpock can't make a post without advertising his own board. Reading this makes me wonder if they are that desperate for new members that they are fishing at ST-com. (Spocky had built in hyperlinks so that people were directly brought on his board)
And what a shock, a direct attack on our board culture!Quote (EnterpriseSovereign @ Nov. 24 2007, 8:30 pm)
as what happened to me, I nearly didn't survive my first foray into Stardestroyer.net and clashed with a few of the members at the time
Not surprising, but entirely unnecessary. As my board demonstrates quite well, it's possible to have debate about Star Wars and Star Trek without letting ad hominem attacks make up the bulk of the discourse.
It is also not necessary that boards either badger their members into complying with the groupthink, or leaving, as Stardestroyer.net has a tendency to as a community.

He can't be all bad. He likes Who. But that's not saying much. I haven't seen Whotardism actually demonstrated (thank goodness), but I'm sure it exists out there somewhere. And there's porn of it, too.
Yes, I believe he did. To prevent the debates from degenerating into style-over-substance fallacyfests you see on Nanny Net boards. Or boards with "decorum" rules. You can be an asshat without violating "decorum."Zablorg wrote:Pff, didn't Mike say at some point or another that one of the whole points to this board is to allow such behaviour so that asshats like him don't get away with being asshats?
Actually, we do have a decorum rule here: you don't insult each other's intelligence. You can't be an asshat without violating that.

It's interesting how any time people agree on something, it must be "groupthink". Certainly, it can't be due to the fact that it's actually a logical conclusion, right? You'll notice that this is the same tactic used against global warming, evolution, the "mainstream explanation for 9/11", and anything else that morons dislike but can't find real flaws with.Tribun wrote:And what a shock, a direct attack on our board culture!Moron kiddie wrote:It is also not necessary that boards either badger their members into complying with the groupthink, or leaving, as Stardestroyer.net has a tendency to as a community.
There is such a thing as "groupthink", but it is characterized by arguments which are designed to "preach to the choir". Accusing people of groupthink solely for agreeing on something is a classic hallmark of conspiracy theorists and other fools.

The Type-III phaser was almost as bad as the Type-II in usefulness and ergonomics and the "Mighty Worfzooka" caused little more than shrapnel and concussion damage to a small group of soldiers. The average fragmentation grenade would cause more painful injuries without landing right in the middle of their group, where the beam hit.lord Martiya wrote:Well, some ground equipment is appeared: the handguns with the worst ergonomics of the sci-fi, the Type-III carbines, the FC assault rifles and the mighty Worfzooka. Sadly, the Worfzooka wasn't issued in the incident at AR-something, where it could be very useful.

They mutually annihalated. And that's mostly because they dropped the ball, several times, on nipping that problem in the bud. They certainly had the capacity to destroy the Daleks before it got that bad, they failed, for various reasons, to do so.OmegaGuy wrote:I've seen Whotardism in the form of "The Timelords can beat anyone!!!!" While they can't beat 'anyone' (some of the more absurd Marvel Comics creations spring to mind) there's certainly very little in sci-fi they can't deal with.

Now, I havent heard this part, but, if the debris went into hyperspace, then, does this mean that the debris went FTL?JMSpock wrote:most of that debris went into hyperspace according to the current EU explanation
Doesnt this then, increase the Death Star's superlaser yield by... alot?

No, that's not what the Death Star novel says, it says that "much" of the planet's mass was shifted into hyperspace. Besides, he's cherrypicking. The novel also states that the output of the Death Star's reactor equals weeks of output of several main sequence stars. And if anything, the feat of shifting the mass to FTL and the power requirements to do that speaks for itself.Darth Ruinus wrote:Now, I havent heard this part, but, if the debris went into hyperspace, then, does this mean that the debris went FTL?JMSpock wrote:most of that debris went into hyperspace according to the current EU explanation
