A RAR! thread about making a RAR! movie, with one of your RAR! senareos for a script? :D
A movie involving Sex Watches hitting the Market, done in the manner of British Comedies.
Now this is good. Or maybe a series involving a lone hero with a Sex Watch. And then the horrors of Sex Watch proliferation! And the hilarity of malfunctioning Sex Watches!
Anthromorphise the boards culture, we have the HAB, who are going all 300 with giant nuclear powered tanks with gundams as Persians, me constantly creating vast cockamaimy hippothetacle scenarios (RAR!), Stark being a jerk with insanely high standards, fundies getting their asses kicked and Mike Wong watching over all of us, that is when he is not walking his dog, playing with his kids or watching porn and having sex with his wife. We gotta be able to get a plot out of it.
Hrm. A Fast Times at SDnet High would be better. A total brutal deconstruction of your typical teenager highschool chick flick? Yes. With someone like the Duchess of Zeon as the protagonist, with her castrating the guy who misinforming advertisements have labeled as the romantic interest, much to the audience's horror? Yes. Hrm, and Rye as another protagonist, a crossdresser who, in this case, actually looks hot in women's clothes, leading to the audiences getting confused as fuck? Yes. Maybe aerius being a horny tool and then getting his comeuppance as J does to him what those Amazon Aliens did to Fry and Zap Brannigan in Futurama, in that snu-snu episode? Yes.

Rye's horror idea could be incorporated to this in a fun way. Like that Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Maybe Rye can play the monster, namely a transvestite who can be killed only by a silver dildo. Or Einy. No, Rye is the crossdressing protagonist who must stop Ein, who was once his good friend and lover. The scene where Rye has to shove that silver dildo into Einy, thus killing him, will be the most dramatic scene in cinematic history. Ever.

Just make a Battle Royal style reality show. There are enough members who can fight to the death on an islande and we´d only have to put up a bunch of cameras.
To spice the whole thing up a bit i´d add a couple of packs of hungry tigers and mango fly infested trees.

What's a Sex Watch?
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

A watch which, when you put it on, will let you switch between genders Read: Man becomes a woman, and back. Or vice versa.

I've seen the threads a few times in SLAM....

Edit: I second a "Fast Times at SD.net High" movie.

Hey, fucktard, why don't you take a look at previous posts and figure it out?
Hey, fucktard, are y'all such total obnoxious asswipes that your pleasure in life is calling people names when they ask a simple (or what ought to be a simple) question?

Searching a board for the meaning of an acronym is a waste of time, at least, if I'm going out on a limb and thinking that just maybe people around here aren't such a pack of assholes-for-the-sake-of-being-assholes that they can't even bring themselves to answer a pig-fucking simple question.

You must be one incredible fucking coward in real life, if you have to build yourself up and get off on pointless rudeness to total strangers who are too far away to smash your fucking teeth in, just for daring to ask a simple question.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Didn't your mother pay you enough attention, when you were young?!

Actually I don't know what RAR is either. I know its connotation but not what it actually means. I think that's a rather uncalled for response to what is a simple question, and I'm sure most of you can spare a few seconds to type out a more descriptive explanation of what the meme is.
I guess you must be a fucktard, too.

Would you like to start a club, with me? We can build a treehouse and exclude all the childish crass dickheads who think they're so superior because they know the meaning of a local in-joke, that we don't...

And yes, I know what a meme is. I don't need the shit-for-brains around here, to explain the definition of the word for me.

Isn't Mayabird Asian?

As for the actual topic, a film noir style horror/sci-fi flick in the vein of Dark City could be done with a reasonably low budget using Doctor Who style special fx.

I'd go the animation route: you don't have to worry about the costs for sets, props, location shoots, transportation, or any of the logistics of live production, and you can make your film look like anything you want it to.

Spend your cash on top-notch artists and animators, as well as voice talent, and of course the system and software you need to do this properly, and you're in business for a fraction of what it takes to do a live movie.

A good call. We got to do so much fun stuff on Roughnecks that we had to scrap for budgetary reasons, on Starship Troopers, since the show was all-digital.

Although we still worked with actors for motion-capture performance. You can keyframe all of your character animation, but I prefer starting with mo-cap and tweaking the performance from there.

What was the ending going to be?!!?!?!?!

I have all of them on DVD thanks to my brother; and the series just ended....abruptly.

Yes! Please share the ending! I remember that they went back to Earth because the Bugs landed there and they were trying to cover it up, but then what?

Anyways, slightly on-topic, I'd be partial to a Bolo film series. Animation isn't too much of an issue there, since if it wasn't animated it would be CGed.

I can't believe this went two pages and nobody suggested doing Star War vs Star Trek: A Smackdown in Space! Especially seeing as how folks are talking animation anyway.

I second the vote for a TBO mini-series, possibly CGI cel-shaded animation with realistic-CGIed mushroom clouds and destruction. :D

He's got a point. Fleet Admiral JD was being a dick for zero reason over a simple question someone who hasn't been on the board wouldn't immediately get. And let's face it, searching for "rar" isn't going to return too many useful hits.

To actually explain it, "Rar" is a term coined by Mayabird some time ago to describe all of Zor's "hipothetical" scenarios since he made so many of them. Hence it gets used for nearly any thread of that type now.

I think that may not be a bad idea. After all a few weeks ago I asked what RAR was and pretty much got laughed at (in retrospect they may think my question was meant as a joke) and then ignored in the thread iirc, so I just figured "oh well not knowing won't kill me" and left it alone.

After the TBO miniseries, I'd like to get another miniseries made of the Silmarillion. That was the single coolest creation story I've ever read, quite easily beating Genesis for sheer awesomeness. Plus, of course, it provides the necessary explanations for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit; where did the dragons come from, what's up with the Elves, etc.

You know, if "Rei Likes Pie" gets mention in the Board FAQs, I think "RAR!" should go in there as well.

Because new posters do tend to ask about it a lot. Though most of them go about it better.

TMNT was done for 38 million, no idea where Pixar and company blow all their money on. It's still a bit easier to do an indie film over an animated one there's lots of man hours needed for animation whereas, an indie film can be shot in under a month.
