Now that is just precious.

And homosexuals, because homosexuals drive fast.

It is a woman though; I have no idea what you mean about the face. Doesn't seem that unfeminine to me.BDZ, why does the guy in your avatar have breasts?
Don't tell me that's a woman, that face is not one a female would have.

Catholics do wear klan type robes (or more accurately the KKK wear Catholic type robes) and as far as I’m aware have done for hundreds of years, why the militantly anti-catholic KKK nicked the design I do not know.DPDarkPrimus wrote:Doubtful, as the Klan was fonded by Protestants.SyntaxVorlon wrote:The Klan stole the hats from ancient Catholic costume for some such ceremony.Publius wrote:Is there a particular reason that the inquisitors are dressed like crimson members of the Ku Klux Klan? Considering that all inquisitors were (without exception) clerics and would have worn habits, and furthermore relaxed defendants to the civil authorities for 'meet punishment,' because they adamantly insisted that 'the Church does not shed blood.'

Well, if that's Ellen in the picture, she's actually the magical copy and embodiment of a gender-swapping "curse" placed on a guy named Elliot (it was really an alien-tech transformation gun that overheated after zapping him rather than a curse, but meh). She is physically and mostly mentally female, but actually possesses the same memories as her "brother" up to the point where they split, and after her creation her personality was identical to his.DPDarkPrimus wrote:BDZ, why does the guy in your avatar have breasts?

She's a character from El Goonish Shive; check the link in my siggy for more info.

Damn the catholics are creepy.
Anyway, this is what this site said about the origins of the klan uniform:

Anyway, this is what this site said about the origins of the klan uniform:
So it could just be a coincidence, or perhaps it started like it says above, then moved to a catholicesque costume after it was spotted they were creepy as fuck. The official uniform of the KKK was also created with symbolism in mind. The general look of the uniform was made to resemble the slave patrolmen from the days before the war. These patrolmen rode through the country looking for escaped slaves; the KKK used this look to frighten blacks.
The robe itself, normally made out of old linen sheets, was used to symbolize ghosts of Confederate soldiers. They used this when they rode up to black houses at night and told them that they “needed a drink because they hadn’t had one since they died on the battlefields.” Many Klansmen also draped their horses in sheets, making them look like “ghost horses.”
Some dens even added red to their costumes. They would wind red thread around the seams, especially the mouth and eyes. Some say that it was to scare blacks into thinking they were “blood thirsty” ghosts. They also sometimes made horns wrapped in red that they could attach to their pointed hoods.
Anyway, wiki covers the above explanation and gives some more potential candidates, including the catholics:
- The ghosts of the Confederate troops in the American Civil War.
- The white represents the white race, reflecting the racist ideals of the organisation.
- The pointed hood also resembles that of a medieval executioner (although this was usually black, and that of grand inquisitor.)
- The red cross on the white costume, and the horse resembles that of crusaders.
- The costume was similar in design to those worn by the Spanish Inquisition, with the exception of the hood.
- The white outfit may also be reflective of supposed Druid costume.

What does actually happen in that particular comic? What's the plot behind the Inquisition's appereance and how it gets resolved?
