I've been designing a lot of spaceships over the past couple of years and am planning to stick them into a comic I'm working on, and I though tI'd like you guys to have a look at a few of them and tell me what you think.
I've rendered them with a cellshader system so they just look like line drawings, because I haven't bothered to do very detailed textures.
The first is the most thought out, that would explain it being realistic.
The third just doesn't have any windows. I thought it would make it look more alien/mysterious
The first one is pretty good, looks like something they'd stick in some game no one would ever play, but looks damn near impressive. The second one I don't like as much and the third one confuses me. It's probly larger than I think.

The second one is an unarmed scout, so it's not too interesting.
Third IS bigger than the others. #1 & #2 are ~11m long. I think the third is twice that, but I don't remember exactly, I'm at work so I can't check the scaling of the models.
They are all flimsy looking because I designed them with shield generators (and coolness) in mind. I tried to re-design the fuselage on the first one into a single piece, but it looked boring.
The third one looks really flimsy... It just doesn't look like those little struts would be able to hold it together.
The first one looks great. Reminds me of an Arwing, from Starfox.
The second one is kinda eh, you know what I mean? Maybe make that wing thicker, it looks a bit flimsy, and the prongs look overly long.

"There's a word for bias you can't see: Yours." -- William Saletan
Unsurprisingly the Arwing was the inspiration for the first one
The prongs on the second one are supposed to be some kind of high-powered sensors. It's a scout
the third one is supposed to twist around a lot, firing weapons and engines all over the place. I could make the joints sturdier, but it wouldn't look as sleek
the first one is not the most realistic one in my oppinion. or what´s your argument for these weird wings. they dont serve any purpose in space and dont look like they could keep the ship in the air in atmosphere.
the other two are logic though.
2: minimum surface to get hit by enemy fire, exhaust and guns far away from the pilots capsule to avoid the enormous heat coming from exhaust and guns.
3: again, guns and exahaust far away, and the inner "wings" can serve to protect the pilot capsule from enemy fire from the sides.
give nr. 3 some cool textures and make an animation with it twisting around and fiering in all thinkable directions. it´l be a damn cool ship.
number one surely looks cool, but if you give nr. 3 the same amount of detail it´ll look even cooler and it will make more sense too.
I like the first two. The middle one is my favorite. Its a scout huh? That suits my personal interest. If I was a some sort of space pilot Id like to fly a recon ship.
I'd really like to, but I don't have enough free time to do the geometry, textures, IK, particle effects and animation for everything I make, so I've just been doing geometry because that's what I enjoy the most.
