Ok, few basic Questions

1-When will man begin colonising mars?

3-How the Martian Colony would get power?
4-Whicth nation would run a mars colony?
5-What would the first Martian colony would be?
6-Were on mars would make a good colony sight?
7-What sort of spacecraft would deliver the colonists to mars
8-How would the first colony would be construted?
9-How would Terraforming go?
10-100 years after the colony was first established, where to you see the Colony?

Well, part of it depends on how willing we are to "contaminate" Mars with Earthly bacteria and such.

1-When will man begin colonising mars?
When we're ready. Seriously. We have a lot of the technology needed (even if we wanted to start terraforming it) but it's just not been applied to that purpose yet.

2-How big will be the first Martian Colony?
Big enough to be self-sustaining, small enough to not be a logistical headache.

3-How the Martian Colony would get power?
Nuclear reactors plus solar for backups, rovers and such.

4-Whicth nation would run a mars colony?
It probably wouldn't be just one.

5-What would the first Martian colony be like?
There's a lot of different ideas floating around. It would probably be half-buried to minimize exposure to radiation.

6-Where on mars would make a good colony site?
Someplace that's geologically stable.

7-What sort of spacecraft would deliver the colonists to mars
Several big ones.

8-How would the first colony would be construted?
By robots, well ahead of the colonists.

9-How would Terraforming go?
Use solar mirrors to focus energy on the polar ice caps, and spread oxygen-forming bacteria around the globe to raise O2 levels. The goal would be to thicken the atmosphere and make it breathable, if still very cold.

10-100 years after the colony was first established, where to you see the Colony?
Probably expanding to satellite colonies by 100 years. At 10 years it'd probably still be struggling.

Read the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson (if you dare...).
It answers ALL the questions to Marsian colonization in excruciating detail :)

I was going to suggest the same thing. It certainly is in excruciating detail, each book is quite the weighty tome.

1-somewere between 2040-2070, a Small scale science station could be established earlier.

2-40 to 100 people, General best and brightest cast of colonists, equil male female split.

3-Put solar panels on every roof, a few windmills (Both as backups) an a Nuclear Reactor (Idealy Fusion, but fission would do in a pinch)

4-Either the United States of America or the People's Republic of China, While the US currently has a headstart techwise and currently the larger Capital, the PRC has made an Incredably leep of Progress over the past sixty years (Many people in China durring the second world war thought that Earth was flat, and next to noone had electricity) and is showing quite a lot of Inisitive towards Space lately. Even so, it is rather Arbitrary, since both would establish a colony on the Planet within five years of each other.

5-A small cluster of buildings, 10-20. These buildings would be prefabricated dome shapped structures about 5 meters tall with a diamiter of 30 meters, there are five rooms, One curculer central room, and four rooms around it, as well as an airlock. Roofing is solar panals as well as four windows on the ratial rooms. Airlock on one side, giving it a slighty Iglooish aperiance. They all have uplinks to the Power network, Septic tanks, and have there own Hydroponics bays, and Power cells. One of these serves as a Town Hall. Also, dig out a few holes nearby the settlement, line them with plastic, put an airlock at the mouth and use them for storing stuff (Food, Spare parts, metal) and housing industry (Hydroponic farms, Foundery, manufacturing plant, Fusion/Fission reactor), as well as a few mines. Also there would be a few rovers, and a Landing platform.

6-On a Plain, next to an ice cap to provide water.

7-Something assembled in peices in orbit, propelled either by Fission powered Ion drive or Fusion drive. About 100-150 metres long, and with enough internal cargo room for a year's worth of food, Hydroponics equipment, seedbanks, Industreal Equipment, mining equipent and other stuff. The Colonists could use the buildings for habitation durring spaceflight.

8-Land the Prefab buildings, put up the windmills, dig out a few holes. As the Population grows, build more housing. Lots of addisional colonists would arive.

9-Send a few commets towards the Martian Icecaps, then slip a cupple of 30-50kt nuclear explosives down some of mars's larger volcanoes. Put big Miror in orbit and point it at the ice caps.

People allready live in cold climates hear on Earth, Winnipeg Manitoba (My Hometown) normaly goes benieth -30 degrees in the winter, wicth is below the average temp of Mars today. Terraforming mars is a good idea.

10-25 to 35 Settlements, and a total martian population of 70, maybe 80 million people. Lots of comerse between each other. Industry well developed. The Larger cities would be under domes, At this point, it is warmer, and you can walk around outside with a face mask, not a Presure suit.

I guess there are some interesting scenes hidden somewhere in this trilogy. Might have fallen asleep while turning the pages

1-When will man begin colonising mars?
Around 2050. By then we should have fusion powered spacecraft capable of reaching Mars quickly.
2-How big will be the first Martian Colony?
The size of a midsized city.
3-How the Martian Colony would get power?
Fusion reactors and solar panels.
4-Whicth nation would run a mars colony?
International.
5-What would the first Martian colony would be?
Red.
6-Were on mars would make a good colony sight?
Near mount olympus where a space elevator could be built.
7-What sort of spacecraft would deliver the colonists to mars
Fusion powered ion drive equipped space craft.
8-How would the first colony would be construted?
Prefab bases.
9-How would Terraforming go?
It will take a very long time.
10-100 years after the colony was first established, where to you see the Colony?
Hard to say.

Maybe because you are bored to death by the 9878657th description of a Marsian rock, mesa, mountain, hill, valley...., that you just keep turning pages in hopes the book will end.

There's some freaky sex scenes in Red & Green, but I think the orgy doesn't happen until Blue Mars....

wait, I think there's an ectogene orgy in Green. And no, Stofsk, I'm not kidding.

I bet everyone is gonna run and buy these books now.

How the fuck is Evilcat answering that? He is at it again, what stupid answers. Maybe he should just say "Humans will colonize planets because they are smart and I think smart things do that." Is the crap he does grounds for banning? Probably not even if there was a vote...they should have a useless poster title that can be forced on people :D

IUnknown/formally Evilcat at least seems like a nice guy, if a bit dumb. Zor's style is more like "RAR! HIPOTHETICLE SENAREO!"

And as for Robinson's Mars trilogy: I remember there being a semi-orgy in Red Mars, lots of random sex in Green Mars, and a full-blown orgy in Blue. Not saying there isn't random sex in Red and Blue also.
