How would people feel if this show took a white guy, and had a bnch of black guys teach him how to dance, play basketball, dress "street" (and a bunch of other black stereotypes I can't think of right now)?

This is just the black and white minstrel show for the homophobic 21st century.

Having said that: Pig Sty for the Gay Guy is a damn fine spoof...

Actually, there IS a genuine spoof on TV: Straight Plan for the Gay Man. I must say, it is a DAMN fine show, because its meant to be humorous not serious.

Carson Kressley, the fashion guy?

I watch it sometimes because the boys make me laugh, and two of the Fab 5 remind me of friends of mine.

I totally agree, but I don't see how the fact that Lowell is an utterly stereotypical gay guy is forgivable just because his show is a resource, when the "Fab 5's" stereotypicalness hurts the show's quality.
Now, I think What Not To Wear (British version) is a decent image makeover, for people with horrible fashion sense, and it actually does more than say "Here, wear this". The Girls actually tell you why what you're wearing is horrid, and what you should be looking for in clothes instead, then they send you out to see if you learned anything, and if you haven't they rush to help. But they do try to get you to understand what you need to be wearing rather than just giving it to you.
That sounds like a fine show, although I have never watched it. Maybe I'll take a look if it comes on near me.

I didn't say their stereotypicalness hurts the show, its that the show exists solely as a justification for them to be stereotypical on, and they do it poorly and are idiots in the process of being stereotypical.

Hey Koji.. about that "Straight Plan for the Gay Man" show. I was actually going to mention that, but, you beat me to it. I think they ran about four or so episodes and I believe it has been canceled as I have yet to see any new episodes for a long while now, and pretty much whenever I watch tv it is usually just Comedy Central.

Hmmm... I've never heard of SPftGM before, but I'd just like to know: How much flak has it drawn?
