I'm working on a fanfic...and i need a few ideas

here's the premise

shortly after the battle of Endor, piracy thrives during the period of uncertainty. One particular group, the main players in my fic, after making quite a pretty penny and building a sizeable fleet (corellian gunships, transports, Y-Wings and one big old Acclimator) come across an ancient artifact. As fate would have it, the artifact was built by ancient refugees seeking an escape from Xim the despot. This massive artifact functions as a hyperspce accelerator, briefly accelerating a ship to intergalactic velocity. It's advanced age however causes it's failure and our 'heroes' are forever stranded in an untamed galaxy filled with cyborgs, clones, pointy eared humanoids and *gasp* socialist humans from the planet Earth! They soon find that the comparativly advanced technology in their possesion is their ticket to a king's ransom and every pirate's dream.

what i need help with is cannon information regarding the Acclimator. Also i need info on Xim the despot and the great hyperspace war. where can i find this kind of stuff?

If you're talking about the Sith War comics, those are set ~4000 years before ANH, not in pre-republican times.

In pre-republican times there was no hyperspace travel. Interstellar travel was acheived with sleeper-ships that reached high sublight speeds.
Many of the core worlds were colonized by humans that way (for example Correlia and Alderaan).
