See?
Told you.

PS What BTW, is Cowboy Bebop?
Go, tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie.

One of the greatest animes ever. One season long, but damn, what a ride. Comes on Cartoon Network on Saturday night at 12midnight EST. Right now would not be a good time to start watching, however. It's to the last two episodes.

Is it on in Canada? On Teletoon?

Two seasons though, isn't it?

The movie was great.

I dont' know really, 26 episodes, which is a season here in the US. *shrug*
You've already seen the movie?! Bitch. ;) I really hope it will play somewhere close when they release it. I *HAVE* to see it on the big screen. That'll be so awesome.

You know, you're probably right. I was never really sure about it.

Same here! I've only seen it because I acquired it from...other sources ;)

I think it's cool that Anime makers know when to end a story. Most of the really good Anime series that I've seen are designed for a run of 26 episodes or so, and thus don't get old, boring, stale or overstay their welcome...unlike DragonBall Z.

And Pokemon.

And Spike is... uh, well, they end it well. No take backs. It is quite Final.

Amazing how everyone but Jet gets their greatest desires fulfilled. :( Poor Jet.

*heh* Yeah, he's bound to pick up a few more strays along the way.

Man, Hard Luck Woman was just so sad. It sets up the end so well.

Bebop is the king of bittersweet endings. I don't cry often, but I did get choked up at several points.

I've only read a few episodes, but I'm enjoying it so far.

SW Spike is a lot less apathetic than CB Spike. CB Spike, especially in some episodes, was so lazy and indifferent that he was awesome.

Aren't cigarettes "Death Sticks" in the SW universe?

Definately interesting :D
I don't know if I can deal with my favourite anime crossed with my favourite movies. I agree with Crom that Spike seems more laid back and lazy in the series than the fanfic. The main thing thats missing is a cross between John Williams and Yoko Kanno scores for the music :D

Whoa, this was buried deep. Has it really been that long??? Here's chapter 4, at least the first of it. Enjoy!

Episode 4: Hard Hitting Woman

"You know what you are to do," the man said to the woman standing before him.

"Infiltrate and prepare the subject for you to dispose of." She was on one knee prone before him. Her neck was bare, her white skin shining in the minimal light. One swipe would be all it would take. This was her way of showing her submission to him.

"Very good. Now go."

She stood, pulling the hood of her cloak over her purple hair. Silently, she slunk out of the room.

"Is she trustworthy?"

"You doubt my choice?" A man appeared from the shadows.

"Never Master," the white haired man said. "I just hope she does not chose to get rid of him herself. Spiegel is mine."

"Do not worry. You will have him... in time."

Jet and Spike stood in the entrance of the casino on Bespin. "Ah," Spike said as he stretched his arms above his head to get the kinks out of his body. "This is going to be too easy."

"No cheating," Jet said cutting his eyes at his partner. "Calrissian will have you strung up before you can say 'sabbac'. Besides, I don't think Kyra would like it very much."

Pain crossed his face for a split second. "She's not here. I can do whatever I please."

The larger man shrugged. "Ok, whatever, but I'm not going to pull your ass out of the fire if you piss of a Wookie." He walked down the steps and disappeared into the crowd.

Spike rolled his eyes as he shoved his hands into his pockets. His lanky form strode around the casino, taking in every game, trying to find one he'd fit into easily. *Ah, there we go.*

He walked up to a table with only three other players. The dealer was a human female. She had short purple hair and bright green eyes. She looked up as he approached. "Care to join the game?" she asked in a sexy voice.

"Don't mind if I do," he replied as he slid into a seat.

The dealer's eyes cut down to the table. It looked like she was concentrating on something for a moment before she started to deal the cards. "Ten cred ante, nothing wild."

As the games contiued, and Spike drank more and more, he lost his suspicions of the woman's intentions. She had a great body, and every time their eyes met, she tossed a wink at him. "So, honey," he finally asked. "What's your name?"

"I'm Faye." Her voice had a huskiness to it that made her seem all the more seductive.

"Faye, huh? So Faye, when d'ya get off work?"

"About ten minutes. Wanna meet up?" Her eyes teased him.

"Sure."

Ten minutes later, Spike was waiting outside when she came up to him. She now wore a yellow two-piece outfit, as well as a red sweater tied around her waist that did more to add color than cover up. Spike thought she looked mesmerizing. Without preamble, she strode up, wrapped her arms around him, and kissed him deeply. Spike gave a mental shrug and kissed back.

Even without the Force, Spike's senses were sharp enough to hear the soft click of the vibroblade. He leapt away a moment before she tried to stab him. She made another thrust, but he twisted to the side and dodged it. "Who are you?" he demanded.

"None of your business!" she threw a punch, but he caught it and looked into her eyes. For some reason he saw only darkness, as if there was something missing. She used the distraction to kick him in the shin.

"Ow!" He grabbed his leg and hopped backwards. Sweeping her leg out, she made him trip and fall on the ground. She ran off, the vibroblade dropping to the ground behind her.

Spike opened his eyes as a shadow fell over him. "What did you do this time?" Jet asked.

"Nothing much. Just about got killed." He pulled himself to his feet and stretched.

"Killed, eh?" Jet looked out the viewport. "Any idea who or why?"

The green-haired man shrugged. "Dunno. She was just a card dealer." He fished a cigarette from his pocket and lit it.

"Uh, Spike," Jet said after a moment. "Isn't that your ship?"

He looked out the port to see a red ship passing. "Damnit! That bitch stole my ship!" He started running towards the Bebop.

"Yes, you can use the Hammerhead," Jet said as he caught Spike's falling cigarette. He took a drag before he started to lazily make his way to the ship.

Spike pushed the Hammerhead as fast as it would go. He keyed in the frequency of the comm on his ship. "Where the fuck do you think you're going?"

"I'm sorry, but this comm number has been disconnected," Faye said in that sultry voice of hers. She pulled out her blaster and shot the comm unit.

"FUCK!" Spike was thoroughly mad now. He pushed Jet's ship as hard as he could, trying to find a way to catch her. This bitch was so going to pay. She had kicked him AND caused damage to his ship.

Faye growled. "He just doesn't know when do give up." She nudged the little ship forward, banking from left to right, trying to shake him from her tail. A grin cracked her face as she noticed she was pulling away. It turned into pure shock as a huge ship appeared in front of her. "Oh shit." She pulled the ship into a sharp bank up and away from the Bebop.

"Come to daddy," Spike snarled as he waited for her to come back towards him. He triggered the ion cannon and watched as his beloved ship was enveloped by the crackling light.

Faye could do nothing. The ion blast hit the ship solidly on the nose. "Oh great," she grumbled as the ship came to a dead stop. A moment later, the ship jerked as the Bebop's tractor beam came online. She felt the ship being pulled into the docking bay aboard the larger vessel.

Good, very good. BTW, you drew up a comparison between this and 'Honky Tonk Woman' very well.

Okay, beat me into ignorance heaven if you must, but I really want to know: What IS Cowboy Bebop? I've never heard of it.

It's a Japanese anime show about a group of down-on-their-luck bounty hunters. it takes place a couple centuries in the future, and mankind has colonized the solar system. It's very good, and it's on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim Saturday nights.

The inclusion of the CB fighters in this chapter gave me sudden inspiration the other day for alternate construction histories. Tell me what you think, Kelly:
Swordfish Mark II

Image

Model No.: IXB-II
Builder: Koensayer Corp.
Fixed Armament: laser cannon x2
Optional Armament: ion cannon x1, missile launcher x1
Hyperdrive: Class 1
Shields: yes

The Swordfish fighter was designed shortly before the Clone Wars, and is still a successful fighter. It was originally intended to be a patrol craft, but it's stability and reliability pushed it into a more attack-minded profile. It is well armed, with 4 laser cannons and a mount below the nose, which can hold an ion cannon, a missile launcher, or a sensor pod. The Swordfish, although not a widely used fighter, is rather popular on the Outer Rim, as it can hold its own against an X-wing, but costs less.

The Swordfish has a larger wingspan than other fighters, but the wings fold upwards during landing, so it actually takes up less room than another fighter of equal mass. The Swordfish also features an escape pod built around the cockpit, so a pilot hit during combat has a chance to fly back to his ship.

The Swordfish has roughly the speed of an X-wing, but is less maneuverable. Like the X-wing, it is easily modified, so most pilots with some spare parts can fix that problem. It is also an excellent atmospheric pilot.

To date, both the Empire and the New Republic have frowned on the craft, for different reasons. The Empire didn't want to shift from its TIE series, and the NR preferred the designs from Incom. Despite this, the Swordfish has sold well among planetary defense squads, who prefer it over the slower Headhunter.
