Yet another "Portal" review

Post by RayCav of ASVS »

The only think I have to say: what the fuck?!?!

This guy is on crack. You simply cannot deny that this guy IS ON CRACK!

Did it kick the crap of out KJA: hell no (DarkStar Award)

Did it kick the crap out of NJO: hell no (monkey shit rating)

Did it almost kick the crap out of the Thrawn Trilogy: hell no (you must be on crack to think this is superb rating)

Did it actually kick the crap out of the Thrawn Trilogy: my good lord I fucking hope not (only someone like Kin'a'di could write this rating)
::sig removed because it STILL offended Kelly. Hey, it's not my fault that I thing Wedge is a::

Did someone actually think "Portal" managed to outwrite any of these? Not even KJA had that many plotholes, and that's saying something.

I actually read Grahm Kennedy's Story and I have a different perspective. I'm not quite sure how to put it though. If, Indeed, it were to be written properly,I think it could have been great! Adding in proper technical stuff is another thing. (Not sure how to solve the Enterprise-E in a volley of Tie Fighter turbolaser bolts.) But I think the whole Idea of the Defiant under cloak, the Deanna and O'Brien infiltrating Coruscant,.....I liked the ideas and plot. I enjoyed it actually. For the story's sake. As for technical stuff, it did actually suck. (THE ENTERPRISE-E HAS NO SAUCER SEPERATION!!! at least not that I know of... He's got his E-D/-E's screwed up.) I'd perfer to see an Intrepid class be used. I always admired it for some reason.

Portal did kind of lose me around the end, interest wise. Instead of constant space battle scenes which I end up skimming through anyway, I like rather ship to ship communications scenes and on-ship action.

Note to all fanfic writers, my favorite part of any ST/SW crossover is the hailing thing. When they first say who they are and state their demands and look at each other like...Where the fuck did you come from?
If you have a good hailing scene, you'll have ME hooked.

All in all story wise i give portal....7 out of 10.
Tech wise....... -275983750294865 out of 10.

Have you had your brains smashed with a claw hammer? It's a terrible story. Sure the premise might have some promise but the execution is absolutely horrible. Not only is every last star wars character written so poorly that I wanted to scream, the technical aspect read like trekkie techno-porn. It's less a story and more a trekkie wet dream.

I have seriously often wondered whether Portal was meant as some kind of twisted satire. Perhaps intentionally written to piss of warsies and good writers alike. Honestly, I cannot believe that a person could be this deluded or that they would spend so much time writing something so godawful. I'm pretty sure that even Portal took time to write. He didn't crank that sucker out in a day.

So why waste his time unless:
A. He truly believes this drivel.
B. He wanted to needle the warsie side with some obvious flamebait.
Wherever you go, there you are.
