AN: Well, I worked up what I am calling a 'Codex' entry. This will be the first of several chapters where we look back in time. They won't be all one after the other though...only after an important event. This one in particular explores the Furling/Celestial split, and the history/fall of Horizon. No SW movie talk yet though, since I figured that could wait. Here we go...let me know if I improved on the last attempt on the Horizon front.

Horizon

100,000 years BBY (using SW calendar)
***********

Horizon, a recently established Furling colony…it was the crown jewel of the races colonial efforts. It was also the first joint colony established by them and their allies the Alterans. The later race had found the Furlings in the middle of a devastating war, and had uplifted them to the stars. Thanks to that, they had formed an alliance; along with the even more recently discovered Nox…though the Nox already had spaceflight.

Thus, this previously untouched world had three different races ships hovering around in orbit all of them sending down waves of colonists.

“Lovely sight isn’t it?” a Furling soldier asked.

“I know, I’m glad the Alterans let us keep it,” another said.

“Stop loitering you two! Get to your transports!” a Sergeant yelled.

“Yes sir!” the two soldiers shouted out, heading for a transport.

They flew down to the planet, followed by shuttles from the Alteran and Nox fleets. All three allies had agreed to divide up Horizon as a major base of their alliance, so thus the Alteran and Nox colonists. Naturally none of these thoughts came to mind for the Furling soldiers, all they cared about was finally getting off the confining ships in orbit. But while they were flying down to the surface, they noticed hyperspace windows opening in front of a large part of the Furling Fleet, which was odd considering the ships shouldn’t be leaving yet. But they didn’t know what was going on in the higher up portions of the government.

“NO!! I absolutely refuse to be confined like this!” a Furling Admiral shouted out.

“Admiral Solan, you don’t understand! We aren’t being confined by our treaty with the Alterans and Nox, we are benefiting from it!” another Admiral shouted back.

“No its you who don’t understand! We would have reached spaceflight on our own without Alteran aid! All they have done since ‘helping’ our people is hold us down! We can reach so much higher than the Alterans think! Why can’t you see that?!” Solan yelled.

“Admiral please…the Alterans haven’t done anything to us. And we would have destroyed ourselves if they hadn’t uplifted our race.”

“I don’t care what you think…I’ve seen the ‘great and powerful’ Alterans for who they really are! Do you even know why they came to this galaxy? They were fleeing a war in their own Galaxy…now tell me, what do you think will happen if these ‘Ori’ follow them here?!”

“What if the Alterans hadn’t come here? And the Ori came instead…do you honestly think they would have helped us? The Ori would have wiped us out!!”

“NO!! If the Alterans had never come here the Ori would never learn about our Galaxy!”

“THEY DON’T KNOW ABOUT US!! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL!!!” the younger Admiral yelled, finally loosing his temper.

Solan seemed shocked by the shout, but he recovered quickly enough, “You are just a slave of the Alterans…I won’t stand for that! My fleet and I are leaving you fools to your fate! The Corusca Galaxy will be free of Alteran influence…and that’s how it should be!”

With those words the Admiral stormed from the room and back to his flagship, taking half of the Furling Navy with him. The large fleet opened purpleish-blue hyperspace windows and flew off towards a distant Galaxy…the unappreciative Furlings on board soon to found the Celestial Empire. They were echoing the Alterans though…weather they would it admit it or not. And they left behind a much-reduced Furling race, and very confused Alteran/Nox allies.

Horizon

7,000 BBY (one month pre-Imperial invasion)
*************

It was ninety-three thousand years since the Celestials had left the Milky Way, and Solan’s predictions had been far off. Instead of the Furling race stagnating under Alteran control, the Alterans had been nearly wiped out by a combination of a plague and war with the Wraith. With the Alterans still recovering from the war, the Furlings had ascended (no pun intended) to the top of the Four Great Races Alliance. The newly admitted Asgard were the second strongest, with the Alterans just barely above the now reclusive Nox. They had lost that much strength.

And now, instead of Horizon being a major joint outpost it had become a Furling military base. Granted the other races had military forces there, but they weren’t very large. Of course none of that meant anything to the average Furling down on the surface though.

“How’s your day going son?” a Furling man asked his teenage son.

“Great dad! My grades are the highest they have ever been!” the young Furling excitedly replied.

The father laughed lightly and walked his son home, passing by the beautiful Alteran/Furling structures lining the street. They waved at the occasional Furling who walked by them, while the Alterans were just trying to mind their own business. There weren’t very many of them either, which considering the sorry shape of their empire was to be expected. But they still looked somewhat happy, all things considered.

“Horizon to Father…what’s wrong?” the teenager asked.

The older Furling shook his head…he was easily distracted, “I’m sorry son, were you saying something?”

“Nothing really…you just spaced out for a second there,” the son answered.

The father laughed lightly before ruffling his son’s hair. The son made an angry noise and swatted his father’s hand away. Naturally that just made the older man laugh again. Passing Alterans and Furlings alike shook their heads. Life as usual on Horizon, one of the most peaceful planets in the Furling Empire.

Horizon Shipyard

FES Freedom
*********

“Testing the reactor now sir…” Guardian said, trying to bring the Freedom’s reactor online.

With a tortured whine, the large neutrino-ion reactor started…only to shut off as the failsafe’s activated. This was one of several tests of the modified Asgard reactor, and it just refused to work.

“Failsafe activated…reactor cooldown started,” Guardian reported.

The Furling scientists working on the Freedom sighed heavily…nothing they did seemed to work. The Asgard reactor was one of the most stable power sources out there, but the Furlings modifications to increase the power output seemed to have done something to it.

“Keep trying to get it operational Guardian, we can’t let this ship stay here. Our outposts have been attacked by someone other than the Goa’uld, and we need every ship we have,” one of the Furlings said.

Guardian nodded and set too work, even if they didn’t know that it was only a month before the Furling Empire would fall, along with what remained of the Alteran and Nox Empires.

Horizon

A month later

Final Days of the Furling Empire
***********

How could things have gone bad so quick? We were winning against the Goa’uld and then these newcomers showed up, Admiral Navan of the Furling Empire thought.

He was standing on board the Arcadia, flagship of the Furling Navy. At four kilometers long it was even larger than the Redemption, the ill-fated colony ship sent to find Solan’s renegade group. But, large or not, the ship was in a horrendous state of disrepair. The majority of the diminishing resources of the Furling Empire were being used to repair the smaller vessels. Like the Nox frigate floating past his viewport. But Navan wasn’t expecting what happened next…

“Enemy vessels detected! It’s the daggers!” the sensor operator called out, using the slang for the ISD’s.

Before Navan could give out an order, the lead ‘dagger’ fired its green cannons at the Nox frigate, blowing the vessel apart. It then lead a wedge formation with the other two destroyers, blasting anything in orbit that moved.

The Alteran vessels shot forward, determined to protect Horizon…as it was their last home. Earth had fallen to the Goa’uld…so Horizon was the only safe shelter and they would die before giving it up. Unfortunately their vessels were obsolete, ancient even by their standards. They had been found in an abandoned shipyard from before the plague by the Lantean survivors who fled Pegasus…all the advanced vessels had been lost against the Wraith. Thus, though they fought valiantly, the Alteran vessels were overwhelmed and destroyed…one after another.

“Move forward! We have to help the Alterans!” Navan ordered, the Arcadia giving a tortured whine as its damaged (and poorly repaired) hull strained to move forward.

It was followed by the remains of the Furling Navy…the one-mighty force had been whittled down to a handful of destroyers, one cruiser, and the Arcadia. The Imperial attacks, coupled with a renewed Goa’uld presence had irreparably damaged their fleet. Yet they still charged forward, firing all their plasma weapons at the Imperials…weakening the Star Destroyer’s shields, but only getting the wrath of the Imperials turned onto them. Two of the ISD’s turned from the slaughter of the Alterans to attack the Furlings, gutting the Corusca in a handful of shots.

“We’ve lost the Corusca sir! And the Alterans only have one cruiser left!” the tactical officer called out…before a white blast of light announced the end of the Alteran Navy.

With the destruction of the Alterans, all the ISD’s turned their attention to the Furling forces. A massive barrage of turbolaser fire flew towards the Furling ships, wrecking the destroyers and heavily damaging the cruiser. The Arcadia’s shields held out, but they were drastically weakened. The cruiser shot forward, taking blast after blast in a desperate attempt to kamikaze the ISD’s. But they were unable to make it, and they were blasted apart too. That left just the Arcadia…and the massive vessel was soon surrounded. Navan’s vessel fought valiantly, and even managed to blow several holes in one of the ISD’s. But it was outnumbered…and finally fell, the massive detonation further damaging one of the ISD’s. The vengeful Imperials moved into orbit over Horizon in preparation to bombard it.

Horizon Surface
***********

“Nasan!! Where are you?!!” the Furling father yelled, looking everywhere for his son.

He had heard the evacuation order, and started looking for his son right away. But the younger Furling was nowhere in sight. And all one had to do was look up into the night sky to see what was happening…bright flashes of light marked the end of the Furling Navy. As the man kept looking for his son, three white daggers moved into low orbit, orienting to fire on the Furling Capital. As Furling, Alteran, and Nox civilians alike ran to any shelter they could find, the ISD’s started their barrage. Green bolts flew down from orbit, firing on the Furling shipyards. The only one that didn’t get hit was the Freedom’s hanger, the vessel being under a Nox cloak.

But that didn’t save any of the screaming civilians. They were running for their lives, but all the shelters were the first things targeted by the Imperials. As the Furling father ran for his life, he finally saw his son running towards him.

“Nasan! Get over here now, we have to find a shelter!” the Furling man yelled.

Nasan opened his mouth to shout something…but a flash of green light flew down from orbit, hitting directly where Nasan was. His father let out an anguished scream before the shockwave blew him into a building. The last thing the Furling man saw were his people being killed by green bolts from the heavens…
*****
Later
*****
The Imperials slaughtered these people…and they did nothing to deserve it, a Republic spy thought as he walked through the wreckage of Horizon’s capital surrounded by his ‘comrades’.

His name was Lasan, and he needed to escape. With the Fall of the Furlings no one could stand up to the Imperials any more. Except the Asgard…hence why Lasan needed to escape. If he could just contact the Asgard he could tell them to wait in their own galaxy until the Imperials had weakened enough to fight. So he was looking for any chance he could find to escape. And Horizon survivors gave that chance…

“Watch out! Furling survivors!!” the Stormtrooper captain called out as blue beams flew into their ranks.

Lasan watched as several ‘troopers were caught by the beams and took his chance, running out of the group.

“Get back here Lasan!!” the Captain yelled, before a Furling beam hit him in the face.

The Republic spy ran out into the hills, looking for a place to hide. Soon enough he found a Furling bunker that was unoccupied. It was the perfect place to hide…especially with the stasis pod. So Lasan jumped in and set down to wait for the Imperials to leave. Thankfully the bunker had a Nox cloak that activated the moment the pod did…so the Imperial patrols didn’t find him. Lasan would sleep undisturbed for the next 7,000 years…waiting for his chance to avenge the Furlings and hopefully get back home.

AN: Well, was that better? Also, thanks to Borgholio for giving me ideas on this. And yes, Lucas is still called Lasan in here. I'll post the actual chapter 9 too, so let me know what you think of both of them.

AN: Well here is the actual new chapter. Not much to say, other than that Atlantis canon is going to take a blow here...and that after this chapter it will pretty much go out the window. SG-1 will stay more or less the same though. Oh, and the only thing on the SW side of things in here is the ISD's at the beginning...Luke and co. aren't involved at all this time.

Ion System

Milky Way Galaxy

Former Furling Empire

Ion Nebula

The Fortress (1)

June 30th 2004
************

Floating in deep space, undisturbed in the pristine Ion Nebula, was a massive space station. It resembled a giant open flower, with its five arms spread wide into the deep blue nebula. At fifty kilometers long, it was massive, though not quite as large as the Death Star I and nowhere near the Death Star II. Despite being un-occupied, lights were shining out from the arms, creating a bright spot in the brilliant nebula. But while it was mostly empty, three menacing white daggers cast a shadow on one of the arms. This was the fleet that had obliterated Horizon, and they had made the Furling space station, Fortress, their home.

But the ships were dark, the crew all in some form of stasis for the last seven thousand years. After destroying the final remnants of the Furling fleet, and forcing the Nox back to their homeworld, the Imperial ships had taken up residence in The Fortress. The space station having been abandoned to transfer ships and people to the Furling homeworld of Arcadia…not that it did the planet any good, since it was wiped out soon after Horizon. Once that was done the Imperials had taken the Furling stasis pods onboard the Fortress for themselves, and gone to sleep. And they had stayed that way, slumbering for seven thousand years.

Of course that didn't mean they hadn't set up some way of waking them if a Rebel ship appeared, or the Furlings regained spaceflight…

"There is a ship entering the nebula," one of the many droids on board the Imperial flagship, HIMS Fiend, reported.

"Rodger that, beginning thawing process on the Captain," the commander droid answered, pushing some buttons on his console, which activated the 'de-icing' process for the Fiend's commander.

After that was done, a flash of green light announced the arrival of the Commodore, since the Star Destroyers had been retrofitted with Furling transporters. After shaking his head slightly, the blonde man walked up to the droid and sent it off to wake up the rest of his crew.

"Report!" he barked out at the lower-ranked droid.

"An unidentified vessel has entered the nebula. Profile matches Goa'uld Ha'tak class mothership, sir!" the droid replied.

The Commodore nodded, and watched as his XO was beamed onto the bridge, turning to salute his Captain, "Welcome back to the world of the living, Captain Malen."

"It's good to see you too Commodore Kitar. If I may ask though, why did you wake us up?" Malen asked.

Kitar nodded and said, "It appears the Goa'uld have finally gotten over their fear of the Furlings and have sent a ship out to explore. Not a smart move on their part."

Malen chuckled slightly while more flashes of green light announced the arrival of the rest of the bridge crew, "No it isn't sir. Shall we head out and show them a reason to fear this area?"

"Of course, send a message to the Ravager and Destroyer first though, we won't be requiring their assistance, one Goa'uld vessel is no threat, even if we have been asleep for a long time," Kitar answered

Malen nodded and gave the order, at which point the massive dagger shaped vessel flew out from the Fortress, leaving the other two ISD's behind to guard it. It didn't take long to get a message from the Goa'uld vessel either…

"This is the territory of your god Ba'al! Surrender your vessels immediately and we may let you live to serve him!"

Kitar smiled at that message…they just gave him an excuse to test out his weapons, "Target the Ha'tak. Show no mercy…FIRE!"

With those words, a flurry of green turbolaser bolts shot out from the Fiend. The Goa'uld vessel's gold shield held out for a moment, before shattering like a mirror, the turbolaser fire soon obliterating the vessel. The Fiend coasted through the rubble, collecting any naquada they could find, since it powered the smaller reactors on board the Fortress. But it didn't notice the cloaked vessel hovering at the edge of its sensor range…the Tok'ra operative having quite the tale to tell once he cleared the nebula.

Atlantis

July 4th 2004

"Man, I wish we had some fireworks. It doesn't feel like the Fourth of July without them," John complained.

"Oh boo hoo, not everyone here is an American you know," Rodney shot back, busy working on a console.

"What is an 'American'? And what are fireworks?" Marek, the Alteran man who watched the recording on the first day asked.

John pointed at the flag on his uniform, "I'm an American. From the United States of America, one of the countries on Earth. And fireworks are a form of entertainment back home. On the Fourth of July we celebrate our independence from our former colonial masters, mostly through use of fireworks."

Marek nodded, even if he still didn't understand. But they were interrupted as a hologram of Thor appeared, the Asgard communicating from his vessel that still orbited Lantea.

"We have finished exploring a nearby world. The inhabitants are primitive, even by Earth's standards. But there is a ruined Alteran city nearby, and it may have a ZPM inside," Thor said, referring to a sparsely populated planet that was in Atlantis' address database.

John nodded, and tracked down Colonel Sumner, the two men setting about getting a team together. They gathered a dozen men and women from the UER contingent, leaving the Alteran's behind to continue refurbishing Atlantis. They watched as the Atlantis gate activated, and instead of the spinning chevrons indicative of a Milky Way 'gate, a blue light ran along the chevron symbols, stopping each time one was locked. And once the seventh was locked, the typical 'whoosh' announced the connection was established. The group then stepped through the Stargate, not knowing what awaited them on the other side.

Athos System

Athos

July 4th 2004
**********

As John and his group stepped out of the Stargate it was to find it in an isolated clearing with a nearby forest. It seemed like even in Pegasus the gates were set up a certain way. But it was dark out, so they couldn't see much in the distance.

"Spread out men! I want a perimeter set up ASAP!" Sumner barked out, the marines complying with typical precision, their M-16's and Mark 1 blasters held out in front of them. The later weapon being a homegrown version of the powerful Coruscan weapons Luke had donated to Earth. They also had highly advanced night-vision systems, so once the masks were put on it was easy to see the forest.

Soon enough, the lead elements of the scout group, led by John, came across the natives. A group of children ran out to the UER group, playing some sort of game. One of them was wearing a mask and chasing his brother. John almost shot them, the bright light from his blaster shocking the kids, who fell to the ground.

"Don't hurt us! We didn't do anything wrong!" one of them yelled up at John.

Said Major lowered his blaster, and watched as Sumner walked up to the group. He sighed heavily before saying, "I won't hurt you, okay?"

But before the kids could say anything, an older man ran out of the woods and shielded them with his body.

"Don't hurt them! They're only children!" the man yelled.

"Relax, we weren't going to hurt them," Sumner said, standing over the man.

"Okay…are you here to trade? I'm Halling by the way," the man, Halling, replied.

"Yes, we came to trade," John answered.

Halling nodded, "Teyla would want to meet you then. Follow me."

Sumner stared after the man, then at John who shrugged and followed Sumner after Halling. They walked into the village, Halling moving to the front, with Sumner and Ford in the middle, and John pulling up the rear with the kids.

"I noticed you have a problem with Major Sheppard sir…what's that about?" Ford asked.

Sumner glanced at him, "I don't have a problem with Sheppard. I have a problem with any soldier who doesn't follow the proper chain of command."

Ford nodded, and kept following Halling. Meanwhile, John was getting in a conversation with the kids.

"What's that mask you're wearing?" one of them asked.

"This? It let's you see in the dark, see?" John replied, handing it to the closer kid.

"Whoa! This is so cool!" the boy exclaimed, looking at the village through a green light.

"Let me see!" his brother protested before he got to look also, "Whoa! This is cool!"

John laughed lightly before taking his mask back. He also asked what mask the kid was wearing.

"It's a Wraith. I assumed you would know that," the kid answered, handing the mask over.

"This is a Wraith? Creepy looking," John, said, before they reached the village and he handed the mask back to the kids.

Halling led the group to a large hut in the center of the village, which had light shining out of its flap. As the group walked in, a woman stood up from the table. She had dark hair, and a very tan complexion. Though not quite as tall as the UER soldiers, something about the way she carried herself made an impression…somewhat like Weir back at Atlantis.

"They want to trade Teyla," Halling said, before moving to the side.

"Trade? Well I am Teyla Emmagan, the leader of my people," Teyla said, introducing herself.

"Colonel Marshall Sumner, this is Major Sheppard, and Lieutenant Ford," Sumner replied.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Colonel. Now, what is it you wanted?" Teyla asked.

"Just to trade some essential things," Sumner started before Teyla cut him off.

"We don't trade with strangers," the Athosian woman said.

"Well neither do we, but we don't have much choice in the matter," Sumner shot back.

As the two got into a glaring contest, John spoke up, "Well, how about we talk and become friends? Solves our problems easily enough."

Teyla nodded, "Our people drink a stout tea right before sunrise, to prepare ourselves for the coming day. Perhaps you would like to join us?"

"I love tea. See you know something about me already," John said with a smile.

Sumner just glared over his shoulder, while Ford stifled a laugh. Soon enough though, Sumner had a question to ask and he didn't care about the tea.

"We were told that there was an Alteran city nearby. Is that true?" the Colonel asked.

Teyla looked up at him, "If by 'Alteran' you mean the Ancestors then yes there is one of their cities across the river. But it has been a long-held belief among my people that if you enter the city the Wraith will come."

"Still, we have to ex…" Sumner started, before a startled cry came over his radio.

"The gates activating sir! We have three bogeys coming for the village now!"

Sumner shot towards the door, while the Athosians outside ran around panicking at the distinctive sound of Wraith Darts. The UER group heard the high-pitched screaming as well, and all of them took up some sort of firing position, ready and waiting.

"Run you fools! You can't take down a Wraith Dart!" Teyla yelled, before John pushed her down.

"Stay down, we can handle them," John said, deadly serious as he raised his M1 blaster.

With those words, the sky lit up as tracers from M-16's and red/blue blaster bolts flew across it. But through this murderous crossfire came the three Darts, their blue culling beams picking up fleeing Athosians, in a manner similar to an Asgard transporter.

Sumner jumped out from behind a tree and managed to hit the cockpit of one of the darts with his blaster, sending it spiraling out of control. But he failed to notice the second dart coming up from behind him.

"Colonel move out of the way!" John called out, Sumner turning around in time to see the blue beam approaching him.

But it was too late; the blue beam sucked the man up into the Wraith Dart, before it joined the other intact fighter in flying back to the Stargate.

As the shaken Athosians gathered up survivors, John helped Teyla to her feet.

"Come on, it isn't safe here anymore. Lieutenant, take Teyla and her people to the gate. Corporal White and I are going to explore that city and see if there are any ZPM's…and before you go, make sure you get the last address, we are going to need it," John ordered.

Ford nodded and started to lead the shaken Athosians off, even if a majority of them refused to leave…Teyla forced them to. For some reason she found herself trusting that the 'strangers' would help them. After all, she had never seen someone take down a Wraith Dart before.

As for John, he gathered up a Corporal and set off towards the riverbank, the newly rising sun giving them enough backlight to see the Alteran city. It was in ruins, and there was only one boat on the shore, but there was the chance the city might have a ZPM, and it was a chance they were willing to take. So the two men hopped in the boat and rowed across the small river, before jumping out and exploring the 'city'. But it was small, nowhere near the size of Atlantis, so it didn't take long to find the power room, which was nearly collapsed.

"Man this place is a wreck. Almost reminds me of the footage of Horizon my uncle sent me from the Liberty," Corporal White observed.

"I know…but this looks like the power room. So see if you can find a ZPM here," John ordered, heading for the central pedestal, which looked remarkably like the one back at Atlantis.

But it only had one slot for a ZPM, and it was missing its cover. But there was that familiar bright light shining up at the Major, which naturally got him excited. So he ran over to the pedestal and pulled at the light, removing a glowing ZPM. But it wasn't at full charge, even if it hadn't been powering anything it was still old.

"Found any other ones Corporal?" John called out.

"No luck sir! Looks like that is the only one!" White shouted back.

John nodded and tucked the ZPM in his bag before leaving the ruined city behind, heading back for the boat. The two men then headed for the Stargate, before heading through the glowing wormhole back to Atlantis.

"I hope you have a good explanation for this Major," Weir said, glaring at John.

"We couldn't just leave them behind, they were at the mercy of the Wraith," the Major protested.

"Still, we shouldn't have brought complete strangers into the city," Weir said, shaking her head.

"They aren't any threat. Besides, we are obligated to protect them from the Wraith," Marek said, having become the de-facto Alteran leader in Pegasus.

"I agree with Marek. We need to protect the Athosians from the Wraith," Thor said, projecting a hologram from orbit.

Weir sighed, "Okay then, the Athosians can stay. Did you at least find a ZPM in that city Major Sheppard?"

"Yes I did. I don't know how much charge it has though," John answered, pulling the crystal from his bag.

Marek examined it, "This ZPM has more than enough power for the shield. But it won't last for long against a concentrated attack; only three full ZPM's could do that. I'll take it down to the generator room now."

With that, the Alteran man left Weir's office, while Teyla walked in. The Athosian woman looked somewhat overwhelmed at everything around her though.

"This is the legendary City of the Ancestors isn't it?" Teyla asked.

Weir nodded, "Yes, this is Atlantis. I'm sorry, but now that you have seen the city we can't let you leave."

Teyla nodded, "I doubt my people would want to leave. This is the safest place in the galaxy from the Wraith."

"That's true. So have you met any of the resident Alterans yet?" John asked.

"Alterans? I don't know who they are," Teyla answered.

John sighed, "The Ancestors. They are the Alterans."

Teyla's jaw dropped, "You mean there are actual Ancestors here?"

"Yes, but only about one hundred. The rest of us are from another galaxy," John answered.

Teyla still looked a little overwhelmed, but Thor interrupted them, "Have you decided what you are going to do about Colonel Sumner?"

"What is that?" Teyla asked, not noticing Thor's shift in emotion.

"He is Thor, an Asgard. They are our greatest ally back home, and the only ones with a ship that was available to help us," Weir answered.

Teyla nodded and let the allies talk amongst themselves.

"We do have a plan. We are going to take one of those 'Puddle Jumpers' in the hanger and raid the planet," John answered.

"Puddle Jumper?" Weir asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Hey, Rodney wanted to call it a 'Gateship'. I like my name better," John protested.

"I have a better solution. The Daniel Jackson can reach this planet in minutes, and from what our Alteran allies have told us Wraith ships lack shields. So our transporter should work provided we can get a lock on the Colonel," Thor added.

Weir nodded, "That is a much safer plan. Go ahead Thor, and thank you."

The diminutive Asgard nodded, "Of course. It is only natural that we help our allies."

With those words, Thor vanished and the Daniel Jackson left orbit, heading for a nearby planet.

***********
An hour later
***********

"I thought Thor said it would only take a few minutes?" John asked worriedly from a Puddle Jumper cockpit.

"He did, so something must have gone wrong. Be ready Major, we may need to get you in the chair," Weir ordered.

"Why me? Can't one of the Alteran's do it? We need pilots in the Jumpers," John protested.

"Yes they could, but none of them know how to operate the drones. They could figure it out quickly enough, but their experts haven't arrived yet. So please, be ready," Weir replied.

"Hyperspace window just opened in orbit ma'am! It's Thor!" a Russian man on the sensors reported.

Weir let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, "That's excellent news. Hail him, we need to know if the mission succeded."

With those words, a pod beamed down to the center of the gateroom, along with Thor himself. Inside the pod was an old man…barely recognizable as the Colonel.

"What happened to him?" Weir asked in shock.

"We arrived to late. The Wraith fed on Colonel Sumner, and we weren't able to save him. This is just his body, so you can bury him…the Wraith are awake now, and it is only a matter of time till they find Atlantis," Thor answered.

"But didn't you destroy their base?" Weir asked.

"It was a ship, a massive warship larger than even the Redemption. It lacked shields but our weapons could only do so much. In the end we were able to destroy it, but not before a message was sent off to the other Hives around the Galaxy," Thor replied.

Weir sighed heavily, "It's not your fault Thor. We need to get a message to Earth…maybe they can spare the Redemption from the hunt of the Imperials to help us here."

Thor nodded, "That is a wise choice. The Daniel Jackson is a science vessel, not a warship, we can not handle the entire Wraith Armada."

Weir nodded herself, "Well, I'll prep that message. General O'Neill is going not going to be happy."

AN: Well, what do you all think? As for the Asgard...I always felt that for being Earth's biggest ally they helped remarkably little. So expect the Asgard to have a bigger presence here than in Canon. And the ZPM...that is what I meant by SGA canon going out the window in this chapter. Again, let me know what you think...it helps.

1: Here is the note: Yes I realize what you are thinking...no Mass Effect is not in this story. I just like the design of the Citadel (minus the whole 'Reaper Mass Relay of Death' thing...). So don't expect to see the ME races in here.

I didn't expect you to take my suggestions so literally...but thanks! Glad I could contribute. :) I like the changes. It fleshes out the backstory of why the Furlings went to Corusca nicely.

Also, I agree with the decision to bring in the Asgard more than they did during the series. Just don't give them some evil "genetic disease" and have them commit mass-suicide. I always felt that was a cop-out. :(

Well, I've never made a secret of using suggestions. I've actually said several times that they help me write. If you give me a good idea, I can guarantee that I will use it. Nice to know at least someone liked it. And don't worry, the Asgard aren't going to blow themselves up. The disease is a crucial part of Canon, but they have the Furlings/Alterans/and anyone in Corusca who can help. Take the cloners in Corusca for example.

I'm enjoying the story so far and liked the background chapter for Horizen. I'm curious why the Imperials are using stasis and just didn't try taking over galaxy.

I reckon the best way to judge a story isn't by the number of replies, it's the number of views it has. This one is almost upto 1500. Must be doing something right. ;)

I don't think it would be practical to try to take over a whole galaxy with only three ships, evenif those ships happen to be Star Destroyers. I think they had other plans. They must have gone into stasis to wait for something. I'm sure what they're waiting for will be revealed eventually. :-)

Probably for a race or group to get to a high enough tech to be able to quickly leap from basic orbital flight to Star Destroyer building while still low enough tech the Imps could take over easily. It's what I'd do.

they could have realized they were in the past and decided to wait it out in stasis, once they took out anyone race advanced enough to be a serious threat. Especially as the Furlings and Asgard have intergalactic hyper drives. They can run down the clock until they are back in the pesent and return to Corusca without interfering with their own histories, AND bring a galaxy of resources and technology back. It would be nice to tell your boss that while you got seriously lost on the way, you brought back something awesome.

I am surprised that during the space of a conversation however, the crews of two Star Destroyers could be revived and action ready. It might take longer than that just to shuttle them from the station where the pods are to the stardestroyers being overseen by droids, unless the intent is that the star destroyers are controlled by droids entirely. That would be surprising considering the apparent position of droids as slaves after the clone wars.

Nice theory there. If I actually wanted the Empire to win that would be a good idea. And it would be funny to see Palpy's reaction. As for the crews, they have Furling transporters installed on the ships. They don't have to use shuttles...though they still do sometimes. On a different note, I have most of the next chapter done. Should be up either tonight or tomorrow.

Horizon

July 5th 2004

*************

Luke looked at a changed planet. In the two or so months since he had last been to Horizon, the Alteran/Furling Remnant had cleared out the wreckage of the Alliance fleet. Now Horizon’s space was clear, except for three vessels. There was the Corusca, which had been repaired with the wrecks of the other Furling vessels, the Altera, an old Alteran cruiser, and the massive Freedom...the only one that was at one-hundred percent. This was the most powerful fleet in the Galaxy?

“Is something wrong Luke?” Naverra asked, walking up next to the Jedi.

Luke turned from the viewport and looked at his friend, “Its just that your fleet is so small. I don’t think Horizon is truly safe.”

“I know how much you worry Luke, but Horizon is the safest planet in this galaxy aside from Earth. The only threat are the Imperials…Ba’al could send his whole fleet and it wouldn’t win,” Naverra said confidently.

Luke smiled slightly…but he didn’t feel her confidence…he knew what war was truly like. They were distracted though as a message came from the Freedom, “It’s good to see you Redemption. Any luck on finding the Imperials?”

“No, they are very well hidden. We are returning for fuel and provisions then we are heading back out,” Luke answered.

“Rodger that Redemption. You are cleared to land at hanger one,” the comm officer on the Freedom sent back.

Luke nodded and cut the channel. Sentinel slowly lowered the Redemption into Horizon’s atmosphere and headed for the recently repaired shipyards. Only one hanger was actually large enough for the massive colony ship though, and it was on the edge of the city, so Luke and Naverra got an excellent view of the bustling city. Only about half of it was actually occupied considering there was only ten thousand Alterans and Furlings around. But there were plans to search the Furling Empire, and see if any planets had survivors. Along with potential colonists from Earth, so it wouldn’t stay empty for long.

But even with all that, Horizon was recovering, after seven thousand years of being empty. After the Redemption landed, Luke and Naverra headed out into the city, since it would take a while to fully restock a ship as large as theirs. So they set about exploring the rebuilt city. Several Alterans bowed as Naverra walked by, which the redhead returned. The Furlings also showed respect to Luke…since they were well aware that if Luke hadn’t found them they would have died.

“I still haven’t gotten used to how much they like me…” Luke said, watching the Furlings go about their business, the Chiss looking race very active.

Naverra smiled at him, “Get used to it Skywalker, you’re a hero to them if you want to be or not.”

Luke frowned, “So I’m Skywalker now?”

“Of course not Luke. It’s just funny to see how you react,” Naverra said, giggling at Luke’s face.

“Very funny Naverra. Very funny,” Luke said with a sigh.

An Asgard interrupted the pair…and Luke could tell it wasn’t Thor by ‘his’ Force presence. So neither the Alteran, nor the Jedi, knew what the interruption was about.

“I am Heimdal of the Asgard…I was sent by Supreme Commander Thor to inform you that a ship is available to take you back to Corusca. Thor is aware that the Redemption isn’t fast enough to get there and back with the Imperial threat, so the Bifrost was made ready, and I am its commander,” the Asgard said.

Luke and Naverra looked at each other…the former happy to get to see his friends and sister again, the later worried that Luke would want to stay in Corusca and leave her alone. Of course she didn’t voice this concern though…Naverra wasn’t certain why she was so worried about Luke leaving her behind, so she didn’t want to worry him about it. Of course she didn’t take into account his Force powers…so Luke could tell something was bothering the Alteran woman. But Luke were beamed up to the Bifrost before he could say anything.

As the Jedi got his bearings back, he noticed that the Bifrost had a different bridge than the Daniel Jackson. It was larger, and there was actually more than one Asgard aboard. And Naverra wasn’t with him…

“Naverra! Where are you?” Luke called out, looking around the bridge.

“She is still on the surface. It isn’t necessary to take the Alteran’s leader to Corusca too,” Heimdal answered from his chair.

Luke frowned at that, and walked up to the Asgard, “Yes it is necessary. Naverra can help me convince my sister to lend us ships. It will help if Leia sees someone who actually lives here.”

Heimdal blinked at Luke before moving a crystal on his console, which beamed Naverra up to the bridge. The Alteran woman looked around, before Luke walked up to her, a smile on his face. She backed away slightly though, not sure why they had been beamed up separately.

“What’s wrong Naverra?” Luke asked.

“Nothing, I was just wondering why we were beamed up separately,” Naverra said, hiding her worry about Luke staying in Corusca.

“Jedi Skywalker requested that you come with us. The original plan was to just take him,” Heimdal informed the Alteran woman before sending the Bifrost into hyperspace.

“Any luck on finding Luke yet?” Princess Leia Organa asked.

“No…wherever he is it isn’t anywhere near that ship. And the ship is gone too, so I don’t know what happened,” Han Solo answered, walking up to Luke’s sister.

Leia sighed heavily…Luke had gone missing months ago and there had been no sign of him since. The war with the Empire was going well, and they had recently taken back Dantooine, the old Rebel base. It wasn’t an important system, but it gave them a jumping off point towards the Core, since very little in the way of Imperial fleet elements were in their way.

“I hope he’s okay…but we can’t keep using our fleet to search for him…our attack on the Core is almost ready,” Leia said unhappily.

“Hey…we’ll find him…the kid is too stubborn to die,” Han said, moving up to put a comforting hand on Leia’s shoulder.

Leia looked up at him, “Han…”

But the moment was ruined as a sensors operator called out, “Unidentified vessel just appeared out of nowhere ma’am! It didn’t use a hyperdrive!”

The princess and smuggler moved apart, and went into their combat modes. Leia started shouting out orders while Han moved over to the sensors. Home One moved towards the contact, the rapidly dissipating blue/purple cloud marking its position, even though the ship itself wasn’t in visual range. The massive cruiser was joined by several smaller Mon Calamari cruisers…the Republic Fleet taking any intrusion seriously.

“We’re being hailed!” another Mon Calamari officer called out.

“Answer them…the Imperials wouldn’t hail us so they might not be hostile,” Leia ordered.

“Yes ma’am!” the officer replied, the comm system ringing with an unintelligible voice.

“They aren’t speaking Basic…who are these people?” Han wondered, looking at the rapidly approaching vessel.

It was a dark blue color, with a large hull…almost the size of an ISD. The hull was long, with a set of wings on the end, the large tail fins giving it a menacing appearance. All in all…it was a design that no one on Home One had ever seen. And it didn’t help that they couldn’t understand a word of what the other ships crew was saying.

But just before the Republic crew gave up on communicating, a very familiar voice came over the comm system, “This is Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker speaking. I am onboard the Asgard vessel Bifrost and I have news for you. Is Leia there?”

Needless to say, Leia was shocked at hearing Luke’s voice, and she ran over to the comm station faster than she had ran in a long time.

“Luke! Is that really you?” the Princess called into the comm.

“Yes it really is me Leia. Now, can I come over? I have someone I need you to meet and I have something to tell you,” Luke answered, the amusement clear in his voice.

“Of course Luke, we’ll prep the hanger for a shuttle,” Leia replied, relieved that her brother was okay.

“That won’t be needed Leia,” Luke said, before a white flash and musical chime announced his arrival on the bridge, flanked by Naverra and Heimdal.

Naturally the Republic crew couldn’t believe their eyes…this wasn’t something they had seen before. Leia recovered the quickest, and she gave up on any hint of composure, as she ran up to Luke and practically tackled him…only her small frame keeping Luke from being knocked over. Han and Naverra both snickered at that, while Heimdal just blinked up at the twins.

“Where have you been all this time kid?” Han asked, walking up to Luke who was trying to pry off Leia.

“As hard to believe as it is…another Galaxy. To be specific, one that is thirty galaxies away. We don’t have a name for it, but the natives call it the Milky Way,” Luke answered.

“Or Avalon,” Naverra added, using the Alteran name.

Leia looked up at her brother with questioning eyes, “You were in another galaxy? How…none of our ships could go that far. Even if we could get past the hyperspace disturbance.”

Heimdal chose that moment to talk, “The ‘hyperspace disturbance’ only effects your more primitive hyperdrives. It has no effect on Furling or Asgard hyperdrives.”

The resident engineer on the bridge scoffed at that, “Primitive? Our hyperdrives are the most advanced out there.”

“No they are not. They are based on ancient Furling designs, but they can’t jump in a gravity well or leave this galaxy. They are also very slow,” Heimdal said, Luke having told the Asgard the differences in hyperdrives.

“Slow?! These drives can get from here to the other end of the galaxy in days!” the engineer protested.

“My vessels hyperdrive can do the same in minutes.”

“Prove it!”

Leia held up a hand, “Now boys, I don’t think this is the right time. Come on Luke; explain what you have been doing…and who your friends are.”

Luke nodded, “This is Heimdal of the Asgard…the most advanced race I have ever met. We are only more advanced in weapons…and this is my new friend, Naverra, the leader of the Alteran Remnant.”

Heimdal blinked at the group, while Naverra bowed slightly…and stuck close to Luke.

Leia noticed that and smiled at how uncomfortable Luke looked…still the shy farmboy at heart. But they had more important things to discuss.

“You still haven’t told us why it took you so long to get back Luke,” Han said, before Leia could.

At that question, Luke’s face went deadly serious; “Of course…I have been searching the entire Milky Way…for three Imperial Star Destroyers. We don’t know how exactly they arrived in that galaxy, and did it seven thousand years ago. But I came back to request aid…only a couple of our vessels are strong enough to fight those Destroyers, and the Asgard are too busy fighting the Replicators to help.”

Leia looked ready to question what a Replicator was, but she thought better of it. Luke still looked deadly serious, and it didn’t help that he kept looking at the redhead beside him through the corner of his eyes. Leia wasn’t blind by any means, and she could tell that however much Luke wanted to help the people of the ‘Milky Way’, it was more that he wanted to help Naverra. He probably saw the Star Destroyers as a direct threat to her…and when Luke got protective, he got protective.

“I can’t just send part of our fleet to another galaxy…you know that right Luke? They wouldn’t even be able to leave our galaxy,” Leia pointed out.

“I know that Leia. But Heimdal can tow them with the Bifrost. The trip will take a few days, but it would be worth it. And once there, we can refit the vessels with Furling hyperdrives, which will help us against the Empire…their interdictors will no longer work on our vessels,” Luke explained.

Leia sighed heavily, “This still isn’t a choice I can make on my own Luke. We need to get the council in on this. Come on, let’s go to the meeting room.”

Luke nodded, and followed his sister, with Naverra and Heimdal in tow.

Aschen Prime

July 7th, 2004

**************

The Aschen system…home to Earth’s worst enemy aside from the Goa’uld and Replicators…presumed destroyed by a black hole as far back as 2001. But the Aschen were nothing if not patient, and rather than use the address’ they had received from Earth, they built ships and sent them to the planets…finding the black hole. Knowing that, the Aschen did not dial any of the address, and instead lifted a Stargate and DHD from one of the other planets and brought it back, the stellar drift problem corrected by the DHD.

But the Aschen were not explorers by their nature, so they stayed hidden, building up a fleet of ships to defend their Confederation, knowing that the Goa’uld wouldn’t fall for their bio-weapon ploys. And it was one of those new ships that was patrolling their border and came across three odd ships.

“Intruders halt your ship immediately. You are intruding on the territory of the Aschen Confederation,” the Captain said, in a typically emotionless Aschen voice.

“We are not here to fight you. We want to trade,” a male voice came from the lead vessel.

The Aschen captain was naturally suspicious, but anyone who had this technology level was a threat. If they genuinely wanted to trade, his people could use their bio-weapons on them and take the ships, or if that failed at least sterilize their populations. So he sent a message back to Aschen Prime asking for permission to escort the ships in. He got a message back quickly enough…escort the ships in, but keep a very close eye on them.

“Follow my ship in, and don’t attack anyone,” the Aschen Captain said over his radio.

“Of course…lead the way.”

With that, the three white vessels followed the gray Aschen ship towards the distant planet. And despite all their caution, the Aschen had no real idea who they had just invited to their planet…and they would come to regret that decision…

Lantea System

Pegasus Galaxy

Lantea

July 7th, 2004

************

With a flash of purple light, two vessels appeared over the homeworld of the Lanteans. One was the familiar white Daniel Jackson but the other was the Liberty. The captured Ha’tak had been towed by the Asgard vessel, to help defend Lantea. The Asgard couldn’t commit anymore of their ships, since the Replicators were still very much a threat, but they could tow the Earth vessel. And the UER had naturally agreed to that, since they knew how much importance Atlantis held to their new allies on Horizon.

Thus, the Liberty was moving into a holding orbit over Atlantis, until new build UER ships could be finished. The vessel was essentially trapped in Pegasus though, since even with the modifications made to its hyperdrive it could never cross the void between the two galaxies. And a single Ha’tak, even with Furling weapons, was no match for a Wraith Hive. So the utility of this aid was debatable.

“Good to see you Liberty. You can land on the mainland if you want,” Weir’s voice came over the radio.

“That won’t be needed Doctor. We need to stay in orbit in case someone attacks,” Colonel White replied.

“Okay then, but we have something to tell you Colonel. Can you come down to Atlantis?”

“Of course Doctor.”

And with a flash of white light, the Colonel found himself in Atlantis control room. He turned around and saw Weir walking up, with Marek following her.

“Colonel, nice to see you made it here in one piece,” Weir said.

“It wasn’t a fun ride Doctor…no Captain likes having someone else in control of their ship,” White replied.

“I would think so…but as for why we called you here, follow me,” Weir said leading the Colonel to a nearby viewscreen, that had a blinking gold dot on it.

“About time you got here, this is important news you know!” Rodney said, impatiently tapping his foot.

“Oh get over it Rodney…now tell the Colonel what we found,” Weir ordered.

“Of course…with the help of the ZPM that Major Sheppard found, we were able to activate long-range sensors and found this…an Alteran warship called the Aurora. It wasn’t active until we activated the sensors though, so it isn’t anywhere near us,” Rodney explained.

“The Aurora was on a recon mission when we left for Corusca, so it must have been disabled at some point. Regardless, it is at the edge of the galaxy and likely doesn’t have a functioning Hyperdrive. So it will take millions of years to get here…that’s why we requested for the Liberty to be sent here,” Marek added.

White nodded, “So you want my ship to go with Thor and recover the Aurora? Makes sense…the Jackson can’t handle that large of a Wraith fleet and we can’t let them get the Aurora.”

“Precisely…can your ship head out now?” Weir asked.

“Of course, the crew is stir-crazy from doing nothing during the ride here, so they would welcome the change,” White answered.

“Then let’s get to it. Major Sheppard’s team will come with you,” Weir added.

White nodded and beamed back up to his Ha’tak, to get the vessel set up for its newest mission.

dude you're doing fine, any criticisms I've seen so far are entirely constructive. you might also want to consider bringing the Lucian Alliance in, they would still be in the process of forming this early in, but could bring in that bounty hunter flavor that Star Wars has always had. You could possibly shoehorn some Tollan survivors too if you wanted to, since their death was not confirmed, or create an entirely new race out of that one off ship the prometheus encountered near the sentient nebula.

The Asgard might be interested in wraith or Coruscan cloning technology by the way. That's about to become a plot point in my own fanfic, although mines not really happening in the Milky Way so it's not like we'd be stepping on eachothers plot toes. it's just an idea.

I hope colonel White takes the Aurora without blowing it up. It seems like Atlantis was found a litle bit faster in your fanfic, and the Aurora was located faster as well, the wraith operative might not have had time to get on board.

Nice to know. I just like asking for comments since it genuinely does help me write. Gives me more ideas and all that. As for the cloning...yes that will become important later on. And the Pegasus Asgard might have something to say about using Wraith Tech. :) (Yes, they are coming in eventually too). I actually thought about using the unknown ship for the Aschen, but someone already did that on FF.net, so that wouldn't work. Though it does leave room to expand races.

The Aurora will be an interesting situation to say the least. Lets just say that Asgard tech will have an effect on that part of the story (good luck guessing what I mean).

Corusca Galaxy

New Galactic Republic

Dantooine System

****************

“Was the Council on the surface Leia?” Luke asked, as he sat down in the Council meeting room.

Leia shook her head, “No they weren’t…I wonder why they haven’t arrived yet…”

“We do have other things to attend to than your brother Councilor Organa,” a silky voice said…announcing the arrival of Borsk Fey’la.

Oh great…why did it have to be him who showed up first… Leia thought.

Thankfully though, the rest of the Council filed in behind him, so it wasn’t just the power-hungry Bothan in the room. As the group sat down, they all gave Heimdal curious looks. They hadn’t seen a non-human who looked quite like him before…a Duros came close, but not quite the same.

“This Council meeting is now in session…you may state your case Jedi Skywalker,” Mon Mothma stated, starting the meeting.

Luke nodded and stepped forward, “Thank you Councilor Mothma. I know I should have returned to the Republic sooner than I have, but I was busy in the Milky Way Galaxy, thirty galaxies away.”

Luke would have said more, but Fey’la interrupted him, “Yes of course…and your proof that you were that far away and not just in a remote part of Corusca?”

Leia glared at Fey’la, and was about to say something about doubting Luke…but he held up a hand and turned to the Bothan, “Just scan the Bifrost Hemidal’s ship…it has materials involved in its construction that are not native to our Galaxy. Naquada and Trinium for example…they also use a much more refined form of neutronium in their hull.”

“Do you really think we haven’t already done that Jedi Skywalker? We know that the vessel out there uses new materials, it doesn’t mean that it is extra-galactic,” Fey’la shot back, somehow managing to sound both condescending and formal at the same time.

“What Councilor Fey’la means is that we can’t prove that the materials, naquada, Trinium and a new form of neutronium, are actually from outside this Galaxy,” Mon Mothma said.

Luke nodded; he shouldn’t expect them to believe him right away, not when no extra-galactic races had been encountered before. So he tried a new tactic, “What about Heimdal? No one has seen an Asgard before in Corusca after all.”

Said Asgard looked (somehow) offended at being used as evidence, but his race was near emotionless, so he didn’t say anything. Or at least they didn’t show their emotions anyway…

“That isn’t a good case either Jedi Skywalker…there are plenty of undiscovered races in Corusca, the Unknown Regions for example has plenty,” Fey’la replied.

“Then how do you explain their different FTL Councilor? I don’t know about you, but their ‘hyperdrive’ is nothing like ours,” Carlist Reikan pointed out.

Fey’la just scoffed at the military man, “And that is special how? The Chiss don’t use the same type of hyperdrive as we do. That just helps my case that Jedi Skywalker was gallivanting out in the Unknown Regions and is using his extra-galactic claim to get more aid.”

Reikan glared at Fey’la silently, but Luke did need to provide more evidence to convince the Council members who didn’t know him well…everyone who did, like Leia, Reikan, and Mon Mothma trusted Luke to not lie about this, but ones like Fey’la wouldn’t, which was painfully obvious.

“Do you have any more evidence Jedi Skywalker?” Mon Mothma asked.

Luke sighed heavily, he didn’t want to bring Naverra forward so early, but her DNA was sufficiently different to show, that while she was fully human, she wasn’t from Corusca.

“Yes I do…my friend Naverra will submit to a blood test to show she is not from our home,” Luke said, with Naverra looking at him in shock…evidently he hadn’t told her this part of the plan.

“Okay then, we have a medic standing by outside the meeting room, if you will follow me Miss Naverra,” Leia said, knowing the Alteran woman would trust a member of Luke’s family the easiest.

Naverra nodded, giving Luke a slight glare as she left the room. While they waited, Heimdal stepped forward to present his own case for the Asgard. It didn’t work any better than Luke’s though, Fey’la and his supporters were too stubborn…or too eager to discredit the ‘old class’ like Mon Mothma for believing Luke.

Soon enough though, Naverra came back into the room, giving Luke another sour look, but still standing next to him. Leia for her part looked triumphant…the plan had worked evidently.

“Well then, we have your proof Councilor Fey’la. We have scanned Naverra’s blood sample, and while she is human, there is variances in her DNA that have never occurred in Corusca. She can not be from our Galaxy,” Leia said, transmitting the data to the stations in front of the Council.

Even Fey’la couldn’t deny the differences…but that didn’t mean he was going to give up of course, “You’re point Councilor Organa? Even with this evidence it doesn’t give us a reason to send ships to this ‘Milky Way’ to help people we don’t even know?”

“The point Councilor Fey’la is that they are people in need of our help. Our only allies are the United Earth Republic, and the Alteran/Furling Remnant…combined they only have a handful of warships, not to mention that if those Star Destroyers get a hold of Furling or Asgard Hyperdrives they can reach back to Corusca…and if the Empire itself gets them, we will loose any advantages we had,” Luke explained.

“That assumes that those Destroyers find allies, that assumes that those Destroyers can retrofit these hyperdrives, that assumes those Destroyers can find their way back…do you see my point now Jedi Skywalker,” Fey’la said icily.

“And because of that you will condemn the people of the Milky Way to enslavement and death…because there is a chance that those Destroyers will never find their way back to Corusca?” Luke asked.

“Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want anyone to be enslaved by the Empire. But we can not commit our warships to another Galaxy without something to gain,” Fey’la said back.

“In that case…we can offer you fifty Goa’uld hyperdrives. I know it isn’t much, but it is all we can afford. All of those hyperdrives are modified to where they can run off hypermatter, and are slightly faster than our own. The main advantage though is that they are not affected by gravity wells,” Luke said, echoing the System Lord offer to Earth.

“Fifty hyperdrives…fifty hyperdrives?” Fey’la repeated, not quite sure he heard right, “You are offering us fifty engines, not ships…when we already have plenty of hyperdrives? And that is supposed to make us want to support you how?”

Reikan turned to his fellow Councilor, “Fey’la, didn’t you hear what Luke said? Those hyperdrives can jump in gravity wells and are slightly faster than even our fastest drives. We can outrun the Imperials, and their interdictors will no longer be a threat!”

“Also, they can be modified to jump inside shields, so planetary shields like on Coruscant wouldn’t be a problem, but it won’t work on ships, since a Milky Way hyperdrive can’t be made small enough for a starfighter,” Luke added.

Fey’la looked angry, but he was outvoted, as the Council voted to send a small battlegroup back with Luke.

“Follow me Luke, we’ll take you back to your ship now,” Leia said.

“Not needed, goodbye for now Leia,” Luke replied, vanishing with Heimdal and Naverra in a flash of light.

“I doubt I will ever get used to that…” Leia said, shaking her head slightly.

While the Council filed out of the meeting room, Luke and co. arrived back on the Bifrost. The O’Neill class warship was soon surrounded by the Republic taskforce. It was small and old though. Two Dreadnaught class cruisers, a Nebulon-B class frigate, and two Carrack class cruisers. It was all the Republic could spare from the Core Campaign, but it was enough. The Bifrost opened an abnormally large hyperspace window and towed the Republic fleet into its version of Hyperspace, on a multi-day journey to the Milky Way.

Aschen Prime

July 7th, 2004

***************

Two massive things orbited the Aschen Confederation capital world. The massive Aschen Home Fleet, numbering one hundred strong, and the massive Imperial Star Destroyers that they currently were surrounding. But that wasn’t the main problem for the planet, that was the meeting currently going on in the ‘Senate’ chambers. Commodore Kitar had beamed down from the Fiend along with an honor guard of Stormtroopers, by now equipped with Furling beam weapons since they had yet to find a large supply of Tibanna gas to fuel their blasters (not knowing that Saturn had a rather large supply for Earths M1 blasters). But that wasn’t the thought going through the Commodore’s head at the moment…what was, is how difficult to negotiate with the Aschen were.

“We see no advantage to allying with your people Commodore. You don’t have the resources or the population to aid us,” an Aschen Senator said.

“That is true, but we do have powerful technology. We are willing to trade some examples of it if you ally with us against the Goa’uld,” Kitar shot back, already tired of negotiating after the several hours he had been in this room…and thanks to the legendary Aschen stubbornness he had just now reached this point!

“We have yet to see your technology improve on our own. We are already more advanced than the Goa’uld; there is no reason to assume you are any better if you are coming to us for aid,” another Senator said.

Kitar sighed heavily, “We are far more advanced than the Goa’uld. We have footage of what happened to one of their vessels that attacked us as proof. In any case, we haven’t come here out of need for new technology, we have come here because we lack the numbers to conquer the Goa’uld Empire.”

The Aschen discussed amongst themselves for a moment, before the head Senator turned to the Imperial delegation.

“Show us this footage, we need to see a demonstration of your technology.”

Kitar nodded and turned to his Stormtrooper escorts, who pulled out a holo-projector. The projector started up, and began playing a feed from the Fiends ‘battle’ with Ba’al’s Ha’tak. If you could even call such a one-sided slaughter a battle.

The Aschen watched with no emotions showing on their faces. But inside their heads, gears were turning. If this footage was accurate and not in any way doctored, then these ‘Imperials’ had very powerful weapons. But…that was assuming the footage was not doctored.

“This is indeed impressive…but we must have our scientists examine the footage to see if it has been doctored,” a Senator said.

Kitar automatically shook his head; letting the Aschen get access to any of his technology was out of the question, not unless they would become ‘allies’.

“I can’t let you do that. The deal was that you could get some of our technology if you became allies, nothing more,” Kitar said, staring down the gathered leadership of the Aschen Confederation.

The Aschen leaders impassively stared back…it seemed they had reached an impasse…they wouldn’t ally with the Imperial’s unless they could prove the battle was real, and the Imperials wouldn’t let them see the footage unless the Aschen allied with them. This could present a real problem, since to be completely honest, the Imperial’s hologram, and shipbuilding technology was obviously very impressive. But there was no guarantee that they had more of it, or that they would let the Aschen near their homeworld to use their bioweapons.

“Well? Are you going to ally with us or not?” Kitar asked, breaking the concentration of the Aschen group.

“We require a short recess to make our decision,” the head Senator said, as the Aschen leaders began filing out of the room.

Kitar clenched his fist slightly…but he knew he had no choice in the matter. His small fleet lacked the resources to take the rest of the Galaxy. And they needed native tech experts to decipher the captured Furling hyperdrives if they were ever going to make it home. That was the only reason they were working with the Aschen, considering the only other race that would help them was the Goa’uld, and they obviously were not an option. There was also the ‘Tau’ri’ that captured Jaffa spoke of…but they were proving hard to find, and didn’t have much of a fleet from all they had been told.

While these thoughts were going through Kitar’s head, the Aschen were having their separate meeting. They had been getting reports from the fleet in orbit ever since the Imperial’s had arrived, and they had finally succeeded in cracking their jamming system. They couldn’t access the wildly different computer technology used by the Imperial’s, but without the scanners being jammed they could at least scan the ships.

“According to our fleet, these vessel’s do have the power the Imperial’s claim them to have. But now the question is, do we want to ally with the Imperials, or take the ships for ourselves?” a Senator said.

“Is our fleet enough to overpower the Imperial’s vessels and capture at least one of them?” another one asked.

“According to our commanders…no. If all the Imperial vessels were at one hundred percent, we wouldn’t stand a chance, not with just the Home Fleet. But one of the vessels is heavily damaged, and the other two seem to be lightly damaged,” one of the more military minded Senators answered.

The Aschen didn’t show any outward shock at that statement, but even they would admit that was unexpected. They had yet to encounter anyone with technology more advanced than their own, aside from the almost mythical ‘Asgard’, and the now extinct Tollan.

“We shall bring it to a vote…all in favor of attacking the Imperial’s to seize their ships for ourselves vote now,” the head Senator said…to almost every single hand rising up. Pragmatic and slow moving or not, the Aschen wouldn’t let an opportunity like this just pass them up.

“It is decided then, inform the fleet of their orders, and take the Imperial commander alive if at all possible.”

With that order, a massive firestorm erupted in orbit as angry red plasma bolts lashed out from the Aschen fleet. Individually, an Aschen warship was more than a match for a Goa’uld Ha’tak…but no match for a Furling, Asgard, Nox, Alteran…or Imperial…vessel. But with one hundred ships slightly better than a Ha’tak attacking just three Star Destroyers, the Imperial vessels quickly felt the strain.

“The Aschen just opened fire sir! We need you back up here!”

Kitar jumped up at that voice…he should have expected this! He immediately activated the Furling transporter, just as a group of Aschen guards burst into the room. They fired into the green light, but missed hitting any of the Imperials. Kitar soon found himself back aboard the Fiend ready to fight his way out of the Aschen fleet.

“All turbolasers open fire! Try to disable them, I think I have a way to make them join us!” Kitar ordered, watching as green turbolaser bolts flew out, vaporizing the smaller Aschen vessels in one or two shots, while the largest ones took a broadside to take down.

But the numbers would eventually wear the Imperial fleet down, which is where Kitar’s plan came into play…he was going to use the shock of the initial broadside coupled with a typically Imperial move…

“Fire on the Senate building and the surrounding area…let no member of their government survive.”

With that, the Fiend bulled its way through the Aschen fleet, before it fired a barrage down on the capital. The green blasts vaporized the Aschen leadership in seconds, along with a large number of civilians. And through careful power management, the Imperials were able to keep their shields high; fooling the Aschen into thinking they weren’t doing much damage.

“Message from the Aschen flagship sir…they want to negotiate!” a comm officer called out.

Kitar nodded, and sent a reply back. This day would mark the move of the Aschen Confederation from a fiercely isolationist power, to essentially an Imperial vassal state, attacking the Goa’uld holdings under Kitar’s command.

Aurora

*************

“Man, that ship took a beating…” White said, watching as the Aurora came into view.

The massive Alteran warship had numerous holes in its hull, and the bridge was nearly obliterated. The normal dome that formed the bow of the warship was a pile of debris, and no lights were shining from the vessel.

“That just makes our job that much harder…we have to figure out a way to get power back up without blowing the Aurora sky-high,” John said, prepping his blaster for the mission.

“Yes, I’d rather not blow up the most advanced Alteran warship left,” Marek said sarcastically.

“Well of course, we don’t want to blow it up. Now, are you all ready to be beamed over?” White asked.

“Yes we are, is the Jackson in position too?” John asked.

White nodded, “Yes they are, and both of us are ready to deal with any Wraith…”

Before White could finish, another bridge crewman shouted out, “Wraith scoutship detected! It’s trying to sneak past us and board the Aurora!”

“Blow it out of the sky, the Wraith can’t get this ship,” White ordered calmly watching as a barrage of golden beams shot out from his vessel…no point using the Furling weapons on a scout.

The Goa’uld weaponry impacted on the unshielded Wraith vessel and punched right through its thin armor. The Wraith scout died before he ever had a chance to board the Aurora. With that handled, the team was beamed over to the Alteran warship, John, Rodney, Teyla, Marek, and a handful of other Alterans.

All of them entered a vessel that didn’t have life-support in the forward portions. So it was lucky they came in spacesuits. And that was painfully empathized when they moved towards the bridge, and saw the wreck that it was. But once they moved further back in the Aurora they found the life-support functioning enough that they could still breathe.

“Okay, we can take the helmets off now,” Rodney, informed them, taking his off for emphasis.

“Thank God for that…I hate these things,” John added.

“Has anyone else noticed these pods?” Teyla asked, while everyone was busy taking off their helmets she had gone exploring.

“Pods? No…they couldn’t be…” Marek said, running towards where Teyla was standing.

“Stasis pods…the crew must have gotten in them when they were attacked…” another Alteran said, looking at his people trapped in the pods.

“But that means we can take them out like we did on the Redemption right?” John asked.

Both Rodney and Marek shook their heads.

“No we can’t…an Alteran stasis pod is quite different from a Furling one. They just slow down the aging, not halt it entirely. It is the one area that the Furlings were decidedly ahead in. While the pods are keeping the crew alive, they would rapidly age until they died if we took them out,” Marek explained, with Rodney nodding in the background.

“Then what are we going to do about them? I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be a murderer,” John said.

“Neither do I…we have to save them somehow,” Teyla added.

“Of course, do you think we want to kill some of our last remaining people? But I don’t know how we could get them out,” Marek replied while Rodney moved towards one of the pods.

“Wait a second here…they still have brain activity, its like they are still conscious…” Rodney said, looking at a status read-out.

“That shouldn’t be possible…the pods should be keeping them ‘asleep’ for lack of a better term,” Marek said.

“Well it isn’t…it looks like their minds are interfaced with the ships computer…for all they know they just went in recently, because the ship wasn’t powered until we showed up,” Rodney replied, looking up at the pods.

“But there has to be four hundred or more people here…how could the computer handle that?” John asked.

“Simple, Alteran computers are incredibly advanced…but I don’t see how this helps us,” Marek answered, looking down on his fellow Alterans.

“Allow me…I have been listening to your conversation and believe I have a solution,” Thor’s voice came over their radios, “If we can get the Aurora to Asgard space, we can use our cloning technology to transfer the crews minds from the computer to new bodies. It will be difficult, since we have never attempted this on anyone other than my fellow Asgard, but it should be possible.”

Rodney looked up in shock, “How come I didn’t think of that! That is brilliant Thor!”

“That sounds like a good plan…but we have a problem, that scoutship got off a message before we could destroy it…two Wraith cruisers are coming here, and it is only a matter of minutes till they arrive,” White reported.

“But we can’t move the Aurora yet…we need to brace the damaged parts!” Rodney protested.

“We can move it far enough to get it away from the Wraith. But we will have to fight those cruisers to do more,” Marek said.

“Indeed, we can’t let those ships know about the Aurora. Can your vessel help Thor?” White asked.

“The Daniel Jackson is not a warship but we can indeed help,” Thor answered.

With that, the team aboard the Aurora was beamed back to the Liberty while the Ha’tak and Asgard vessel moved the Alteran warship to a safe distance. They then took up flanking positions where the Wraith would exit hyperspace. And as soon as the sleek cruisers dropped out of hyperspace, they were bombarded by blue Asgard bolts, and green Furling bolts, with the occasional golden Goa’uld blast. All of that firepower, focused on just two cruisers, was more than the ships could take. They detonated in massive fireballs, allowing the Atlantis team the time they needed to jury-rig the Aurora for its journey to Ida. It would leave the Liberty as the only vessel in Pegasus, but as it had just shown, it could handle Wraith vessels. Now it was just up to the Asgard to repair the Aurora and ‘revive’ the crew.

Nice touch with the destruction of the Aschen senate building. That's definitely an Imperial move. Plus I hated those idiots anyways. :)

Edit.

Just realized, the comment you made about Saturn having a large supply of Tibanna Gas. This could be an interesting plot point for future installments of your story. Tibanna is somewhat rare and very useful for other industrial and military aspects besides blaster ammo. And of course if Saturn has a large supply of the gas, the other three gas giants must have a good amount of the stuff too. That means our solar system could be actually quite rich, as far as mineral supplies go. That could be a good enough reason for the Republic to send more ships, to protect a valuable mining "colony".

Milky Way Galaxy

Epsilon Indi System

Orion Arm

Horizon

July 12th, 2004

***********

“Hyperspace window opening! A small group of ships have dropped out,” a Furling called out on the Freedom’s bridge.

“Are they Goa’uld?” Rolan asked, prepared to blast the vessels after the sky.

“Scanning…no they aren’t! The lead ship is an O’Neill class battleship, broadcasting the Bifrost’s IFF. The other ships are a design the computer doesn’t recognize,” the other Furling answered.

“Message coming from the Bifrost! Jedi Skywalker has a message, 'its good to be back Captain Rolan. We were only able to get five ships, but they should be able to handle the ISDs. Are docking slips open in that asteroid you hollowed out'?”

Rolan smiled at that, “Send a message back, ‘Yes, Jericho Base is ready, just dock the ships in there.’”

The Furling comm officer nodded and sent the message to the Asgard warship, at which point, it jumped into hyperspace while the smaller NGR ships continued on to the large asteroid currently floating in orbit of Horizon. Considering that not all warships could land on a planet, the Remnant had decided to tow an asteroid into orbit and hollow it out. Thus was born Jericho, the massive asteroid dwarfing the Republic warships that approached it. From the bridge of the Firebird one of the Dreadnaughts Luke looked on, as the asteroid seemed to swallow his small fleet.

“It never ceases to amaze me what the Asgard technology is capable of,” Luke said, looking at a fully functional shipyard, that had been built with Asgard beaming/matter replication technology in the three or so weeks Luke had been gone.

“They truly have advanced far since I last saw them. The Asgard were the newest race to become part of our Alliance and that may have saved them in the end…none of their ships were destroyed,” Naverra said, sadly shaking her head.

Luke looked over at her, and noticed her eyes were a little wet. The thought of what had happened was still fresh, and he really shouldn’t have brought it up…even if he hadn’t directly mentioned anything about what had happened to Horizon. But both of them were surrounded by a bright green light, and soon found themselves in a large meeting room built into Jericho’s upper levels.

“Nice to see you two back, we were starting to get worried for a while there,” Rolan said, having beamed over earlier.

“It wasn’t easy to tow four vessels through hyperspace, even when none of them were even half the size of the Bifrost,” Luke pointed out.

“I know that, but it didn’t stop us from worrying. You are our ambassador to both Earth and the Republic, and Naverra is our leader,” Rolan replied, causing a faint blush to rise on Naverra’s face.

“When you put it that way…” Naverra said, still not used to being the leader of her entire race.

Rolan nodded before turning back to Luke, “Are those ships really worth all the time we had to wait to get them?”

“They’re old, but I have faith in their crews. Here are the specs, I’m sure they’ll interest you,” Luke replied, handing over a datapad.

Rolan looked over the data in front of her, and wasn’t very impressed, “These Dreadnaughts are only one-sixth as strong as an Imperial ship and the other three are even weaker. How exactly did the Republic think this would help us?”

Luke sighed, “Yes they are weaker, but if we retrofit them with better hyperdrives and generators they can become more powerful. The main thing is that we have more ships than we used to…the Imperials are outnumbered now, even with leaving ships at Earth and Horizon.”

“I’m starting to think we might have been better off concentrating on the 304 production…at least they are more maneuverable,” Rolan said, nodding her head at the skeletal frames of the newest Earth warship design being built in the shipyard.

“I know you aren’t confident in these ships…but trust me on this Rolan, I’ve seen them take on Imperial ships and win before. Our people are experienced in getting everything out of our ships,” Luke said.

“I believe you, but there is still only so much we can do with these ships. At least the Daedalus is nearly complete,” Rolan said with a slight shake of her head.

Luke nodded, and took Naverra out of the room. He had something to show her anyway, and he needed to be alone to do it.

“Where are you taking me Luke?” Naverra asked curiously.

“I have something I want to give you, but we need to be alone,” Luke answered cryptically.

Naverra quirked an eyebrow in a disturbing imitation of Teal’c, but didn’t voice another question. After all, why ruin the moment? So she just continued to follow Luke until they reached the quarters that had been set up for them. Which got another quirked eyebrow…why exactly had Rolan given them shared quarters?

But she was distracted as Luke turned and pulled a case out of his robes. It was long, and very ornately made; obviously he had either put a lot of work into it or paid a ridiculous amount of money for it.

“What is this Luke?” Naverra asked again, holding the surprisingly heavy case in her hands.

“Open it,” Luke answered.

Naverra gave him another questioning look before opening the case. And sitting inside it was an ornately built lightsaber. Luke had obviously constructed it himself, and made it specifically for Naverra, considering how it had the Alteran crest carved into the hilt.

“Luke…why did you make me a lightsaber?” Naverra asked, holding up the hilt.

Luke shifted on his feet a little, “I know you aren’t Force sensitive…but I feel safer if you have something to defend yourself with.”

Naverra smiled at him, and ignited the blade. A bright orange beam shot to life, glowing like a miniature star. Naverra experimentally swung the blade, surprised by just how light it was. But she nearly dropped the blade when she angled it a little to far over.

Luke stuck his hand out and grabbed Naverra’s wrist, using the Force to shut off the blade as he did so. But he accidently pulled Naverra closer to him. The two were just inches apart now, and Naverra’s face was as red as her hair. Both of their breath went short, and they weren’t quite sure what to do.

“Naverra…” Luke said softly, his breath tickling the Alteran’s woman’s nose.

Naverra didn’t answer; she just leaned in closer and brought her lips to Luke’s…finally doing what she had wanted to do since she first met the Jedi. The two leaned in even closer, relishing the moment. They just stood like that for a while until they finally had to come up for air…at which point they looked in each others eyes, finally admitting to what they had been denying for weeks now.

But before they could do anything else, they were rudely interrupted, as the door was swung open by a Furling guard.

“Miss Naverra…Jedi Skywalker…are you two okay? We haven’t heard anything from you for a while now,” the man asked, not knowing what he had interrupted.

“Yeah, we’re fine,” Luke answered, moving forward to shut the door.

“Okay then…” the Furling said to the closed door, before shaking his head and wandering off.

***********
Milky Way Galaxy

Serrana System

Free Jaffa Nation

UERS Daedalus

July 13th, 2004

*************

“We have reached Serrana Colonel,” the helmsman of the UERS Daedalus said.

“Good, any sign of our allies ships?” Stephen Caldwell asked, newly transferred from the Liberator.

“Scanning…one Ha’tak is on an approach vector. It appears to be a FJN Ha’tak, not a Goa’uld one,” the sensors officer replied.

Caldwell nodded, and continued to give out orders as the sleek BC-304A flew at the FJN mothership. The 304 was an Earth design through and through, already in the finishing design phases before Luke had arrived. But it had been modified into the 304A with the advent of limited Furling beam weapon production. Thus it was much more powerful than the Ha’tak that was currently hailing it.

“Attention Tau’ri vessel, this is Garak of the Free Jaffa Nation, you are encroaching on our territory,” a deep voice came from the Ha’tak.

“Looks like he didn’t get the memo sir,” one of the junior officers joked.

Caldwell silenced him with a hand motion, before saying into the radio, “This is Colonel Stephen Caldwell, commander of the UERS Daedalus…we were sent here by Minister Bre’tac himself to investigate reporting’s of unknown ships scouting the system.”

The comm lines remained silent while Garak attempted to verify this news with the council, but soon enough his voice rang out over the Daedalus’ bridge again, “You are lucky that you are telling the truth Tau’ri. Follow my Ha’tak in, and we will show you footage of the unidentified warships.”

With that, the comm line was shut down and the Ha’tak turned back towards the distant planet. The UER warship followed it in, keeping its scanners searching for anything in the distance. At the moment nothing was in sight, but you could never be too careful.

“Relax from general quarters. But be ready for anything,” Caldwell ordered.

The crew nodded and set about securing the ship before going to do their other jobs. While that was going on, the Daedalus continued to drift closer to Serrana. It moved into orbit with Garek’s Ha’tak, and continued to scan the system. The Furling/Asgard designed sensors were really coming in handy here.

“Hyperspace window detected sir…ship does not match any known design,” the sensor operator called out, as a large blocky ship dropped out of hyperspace. Soon enough, smaller ships of a similar design jumped out…numbering a dozen warships.

“Hail them…we may be in a First Contact situation,” Caldwell ordered.

The comm officer nodded and sent off his message. It didn’t take long to get a reply either…

“Surrender now…this system is now under the control of the Aschen Confederation, do not try and resist…this is your only warning,” an emotionless voice replied.

Caldwell’s eyes widened slightly, “The Aschen? But we took them out years ago.”

“Evidntely they didn’t use the gate address’ sir…should we ready weapons?” the weapons officer asked.

“Yes, ready the forward railguns and plasma cannons. Raise shields and send a message to both Earth and Horizon. We may need backup for this,” Caldwell answered, watching as his crew set to their jobs with a passion.

But they weren’t going to be the first to engage the Aschen, as Garek launched his Ha’tak forward, preparing to destroy anyone who even dared to contemplate taking over Jaffa territory. But that wasn’t a smart move, with the Aschen being more powerful than the Goa’uld, and outnumbering Garek twelve to one.

“Darn that fool! He can’t handle the Aschen on his own!” Caldwell said under his breath before saying outloud, “Move us in front of Garek, our shield can take the fire better than he can!”

With that order, the newly commisoned Daedalus entered its first battle. Garek had by this point reached the Aschen fleet and was shooting a massive amount of golden beams out from his Ha’tak. But they just impacted the blood red shields of the Aschen ships and didn’t do much damage. The Ascehn return fire quickly shattered Garek’s shields however, before coring into the Ha’tak and leaving it a flaming wreck with only the occasional blast of weapons fire.

“What firepower…they tore Garek apart without even trying,” the weapons officer said.

“That is why we have to help him…our Furling weaponry may just have the firepower to take down those ships,” Caldwell reminded his fellow officer.

The man nodded and quickly set about readying his console. Soon enough, the red Aschen fire started to impact on the blue Asgard shields of the Daedalus, which quickly maneuvered to dodge the blasts. The highly maneuverable cruiser then fired back with railgun shells, missiles, and green beams from its Furling designed plasma cannons. The first two did little to the powerful Aschen shields, but the Furling beams made them look like tissue paper. The smaller frigates were quickly punched through, their reactors going critical and blowing them apart in massive fireballs.

That just made the Aschen return fire even more fiercly than before, more bolts hitting the UER warships shields than before. They held admirably, but they weren’t invincible by any means.

“Shields have fallen to 70 percent!” a crewmember shouted out, as sparks flew around the bridge.

“Redirect power to the Furling weapons! They are the only ones that cn punch through the Ascehn’s shields!” Caldwell ordered as the Daedalus shot over the Aschen fleet.

The smaller UER vessel fired more green bolts from its bow and stern moutned cannons, blasting through more Aschen warships. But the Aschen cruiser turned to chase the Daedalus, grinding through the Asgard shields faster than they could regenerate.

“Sir I don’t know how much longer we can hold out! We have to retreat!” the XO shouted.

Caldwell was loathe to abandon the planet behind him, but a particularly nasty attack shook the Daedalus, dropping the shields even further. And while the warship had handled the smaller Aschen warships, their cruiser was still a big threat. So Caldwell sent his ship to tow Garek’s Ha’tak, getting them both away from Serrana…leaving the system to the Aschen.

This is a hilariously good deal for the rebels, what the hell were they bitching about, "here you can borrow our shit, but only if you promise to turn it into gold".. they're getting their ships abck with upgrades

Earth as well, the Furling weapons were tearing up the Aschen, if Garek had held back, the Daedalous could have split their fire better, shooting to take down shields, rather than to kill, and left the damaged Aschen to Garek. Oh well. At that point the FJN was pretty full of itself, I'm not surprised they barrelled in with the the one ship, it's not all that different from how they approached the Ori.

By the way what IS SG-1 up to, are they gonna return from summer break to screw the galaxy with a new big baddie, or has the timeline shifted enough that Vala will find something better to do than go treasure hunting with Daniel and Cameron. is Cameron even going to join SG-1? The battle of the Antarctic seems like it went much better this time around is he just another schmuck F-302 pilot?

Its not the Rebels who were complaining really, it was Fey'la...who as we know will complain about darn near anything. :)

Yeah, that's what I was going for with Garek. And he's even worse than the typical Jaffa in the 'we don't need the stupid Tau'ri to help us!!' thing.

Haven't decided what to do with SG-1 yet. Bear in mind we haven't seen Earth proper in a few chapters now. I've been developing the Aschen/Imperial, Atlantis, and Remnant story lines for now. SG-1 will come back...the Replicators (Repli-Carter in specific) are still out there. That's why the Asgard haven't been helping look for the Imperials. Cameron joining SG-1 should still happen though, as to what happened to him at Antarctica...while the battle in orbit went better, the in atmosphere part went about the same.

Oh yeah the stargate program's public now isn't it, and Earth is uniting? That ought to be good with the trust still kicking around and whatnot

Another thing (and not an update sorry...) but apparently there is new info on the Celestials...they aren't physical beings. Which gives my SG twist a boost...the Celestials weren't found by Naverra and co. since they Ascended. Hey, it works doesn't it? Also explains how the Ori haven't found the SW galaxy yet.

Honestly though, you can always claim artistic license. We don't have to rewrite fanfics when Greedo shoots first :-p

I know, it just gives me a way of keeping the Celestials around as a counter to the Ori. If there wasn't an Ascended group of some sort watching over the SW galaxy then nothing would stop them.

I think you over-rate the Ori. They are not as godlike as they seem. Even after millions of years sucking the life out of their followers, they don't even have full control over their own galaxy. Their ships can be taken apart by Asgard weapons (and likely Republic weapons too), and the priors can be stopped with a simple handheld "distraction" device. The only reason the Ori did as well as they did was due to the lack of caring by the ancients. Imagine if a dozen X-304s with the Asgard beams had blockaded the super gate? Game over. :-)

I don't think you need to complicate the plot with ascended celestials...unless you wanted to imply that most galaxies have some sort of ascended beings watching over them, and they are more aggressive and assertive than the pussies in the Milky Way....

Yeah, that is what I am planning on. And I plan far in advance...because once we reach a point where Abeloth (*shakes head at her very existence*) become a threat, the more active Celestials will stomp her down. And the MW Ancients will be coming up soon...you'll notice that Naverra and company still only call themselves Alterans? You'll see why soon...
