Too early. Skip forward a couple of chapters to when Pang Tong joined Liu Bei. He was assigned to a minor prefecture due to his ugliness and uncouth nature. When Zhang Fei and Jian Tou received reports that he was habitually drunk and did not turn up in court, they went down to investigate. To demonstrate his legal brillance, he settled various legal cases, in which one of them was an exact replica of Solomon split the baby method.

Since Christianity had already arrived in China during the Tang Dynasty, if not the Yuan, its clear that this is a story of inspiration rather than great minds think alike.

Incidentally, given the high rates of Christianity in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, its clear that Yahweh has succeeded in extending his reaches that far. Given the success of the Christian underground church in China, one suspect that in universe, God was moderately successful there. Perhaps the communist persecution of Christianity was inspired by Satan?

I see what you mean, although in the version I use (at threekingdoms.com ) none of the cases are actually detailed.

So the rumors are true after all! [/joking]

Does anyone else think that Aretha's Franklin's I Will Survive would be an absolutely perfect theme song for this fanfic?

Sorry, should have posted earlier. I really enjoyed that last chapter, nice one, Stu.

No. Insufficient 'fuck yeah' factor.

Stuart, I will PM some more scenes over shortly, I need to adjust some details which I will do as soon as I've finnished the coding task I'm working on.

When I read it, I imagine something more like the music from Black Hawk Down, except that the modern electric guitar power chords alternate with Gregorian chanting or choral voices instead of vaguely African-sounding strings.

Oh good, we can appropriate the entire soundtrack of the Ace Combat series then. :)

I'm prepared to admit it... During the last tank engagement scene, I had 'Boom' by christian rock band POD stuck in my head. I blame a thousand youtube explosion compilations.

"Chop Suey" by System of a Down, well ok just the one line, "I...cry...when Angels deserve to DIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!" Or Rammstein's "Engel".

How weird would it be if humans played Heavy Metal and it absolutely was detested by the demons.

In that case, I think Therion would be a good pick for soundtrack music -- they combine heavy metal with choral vocals. Their version of O Fortuna is simply incredible.

It seems to have been used for a lot of movie trailers lately, but Clint Mansell's Lux Æterna (from Requiem for a Dream) works well too..

but I agree, the Black Hawk Down soundtrack is fitting.

Anyone else thinking about the epicness of this as a movie?

I measure many events by their potential epicness as a movie. This would rank very near the top.

I must humbly throw in for OTEP's Noose & Nail, as well as Ghostflowers. "Noose & Nail" is so apt it's scary, and "Ghostflowers" is a superior metal track, and it hits on some relevant imagery.

From out beyond left base, the only track I have had in mind, apart from vague Wagnerian humming, is Pink Floyd's "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" from Umaguma. The screaming is that of Satan and Yahweh when they really realise what they have unleashed and Roger Gilmour's guitar break......

But on the other hand look at singapore as well. Christians only take up about 10 percent of the total singapore population.

The majority of the chinese still believe in buddhism for example.

I have no idea why it wasn't included in this edition since it faithfully replicated the various mythological episodes.

That's a bit misleading. We aren't debating the popularity of christianity and 15% is just 4% lower than the 19% atheist rate.

Especially once you factor in that Allah=Yahweh, the number of ppl believing in the Abrahamic God outnumbers atheists.

Perhaps the Nephibilim debate raised earlier explains this better in terms of in universe.

Oh, just a note, most of the major manufacturing plants in the Detroit area are well outside city limits, which are themselves quite aways from the inner city. I used to live in Dearborn Heights, literally across the street from what was technically Detroit, but to get downtown took anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and construction. The River Rouge Plant, for example, is in Dearborn near Ford's world HQ. Chrysler's tank plant is also well outside the probably strike radius of whatever this demon superweapon is.

However, something to consider. Taking out metro Detroit, if indeed this weapon is powerful enough, is guaranteed to provoke an all-out nuclear strike on Dis. No questions asked. Even if the weapon isn't powerful enough to completely take out metro Detroit, the attempt is likely to incite some extremely severe retaliation, probably including the use of nuclear weapons against large demon military formations and major fortresses.

On an unrelated note, the demons interpreting human fighters as "sky chariots" makes me wonder if they would consider this:

to be a "Chariot of Fire"?

Are you trying to miss the point? No one is saying that Chinese people are completely immune to religion. However, they is some published research showing that certain ethnicities are less susceptible to religious "out of body experiences".

Actually, considering that the release pattern from the front looks like a stereotypical shroud-wearing, winged angel...

The problem is that we have, as yet, no way to deliver a nuclear weapon reliably to dis without killing one of our own.

The planes we have in there can travel about as far as the pilots can piss while drunk (Which I'm sure is a great distance. :-P)

Kitten could open a portal, but it would have to be big. Read: Wipe her out for a while and make her unable to open a new one. This presents the problem of having an agent inside to take delivery who you won't kill.

MAybe I'm missing something, but I can't see a way to deliver a nuke.

A rocket-propulsion missile would do the trick. Rockets don't need to ingest air, unlike jet engines. They can fly just fine in a bad atmosphere.

The real trick is making sure it goes where you want it to go. It would be pretty bad to launch a missile from the FOB, only to have it curve around in a big circle and come right back.
