How Often Do You Send/Receive PMs?
I was sending someone a PM this weekend when the notion popped into my head, regarding a curiosity of how often members of the board send or receive PMs to or from others.
So that basically leads us all to this ultimate of questions: how often do you send or receive PMs on the board?
For myself, I would have to say maybe about once every two weeks on average.

Rarely. It usually has to be something too sensitive to post out in the open or a private query about something I know the person is an expert in and I'm interested in some input that's not worth making a thread about.

Why is it so goddamned hard to get little assholes like you to admit it when you fuck up? Is it pride? What gives you the right to have any pride?

Rarely, if ever will i get an PM, i think the last one I got was last year, though I beleive the more well known you are, the more likely you are going to get PM's, the rest of the plebs use AIM and other such things.

Usually when I'm asking something that's very OT, need some expert advice, arranging plans for world domination or sometimes just catching up with someone I haven't spoken to in a while. That's about it really. Maybe once a month at most?

I generally get about 20-25 PMs a week, regarding mod-related questions, chatting with friends, people asking for advice, and the occasional random query or drunk rambling.

I have 19 messages. From the very beginning. That's like one a month. I feel so unloved.

Almost never, really. In three years on this board, I have recieved a total of thirteen PMs. This is an average of one PM every 85 days. Except ten of my thirteen PMs were recieved two years ago.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I was sending someone a PM this weekend when the notion popped into my head, regarding a curiosity of how often members of the board send or receive PMs to or from others.

I could send you a random PM if it would make you feel better.muse wrote:I have 19 messages. From the very beginning. That's like one a month. I feel so unloved.
I seem to go in spurts, having PM conversations. They don't happen much, but then they do they can go on for a little bit and I get a decent volume. But that's usually just in the course of a day, or two at most.

I've sent about a dozen, although most are related to the SDN chess tournament (which died a long time ago.) I only recieve one or two a month.

I've been here 46 months and recieved 36 messages . From an early one asking me about the Honorverse Tech Manual (which I'm not working on any more, since I'm trying to write my own stuff) to Rye asking me a question about some religion stuff, I've averaged under one a month.muse wrote:I have 19 messages. My inbox got wiped awhile ago and I have deleted a number of PMs besides this, but I think I have received roughly 100 PMs in my 9 months or so here. This is a rough estimate, mind.

Hmm, lets see, I used Pm's for a while to communicate with Lagmonster before he and I arranged to meet with our SO's, he's a cool guy, so is his wife BTW In case anyone was wondering and we pmed like 10 times a week during that getting together stuff, and lets just say I've filled my inbox and sentbox to 100% capacity like twice since I joined That's a lot of Pm's I figure it's better to start conversations and ask questions through pm instead of inviting myself to join their msn or aim lists

I use private messaging as a means to vent my frustrations with the federal government, and to coordinate the secession of Oregon with that of Northern California, Washington and British Columbia into what will soon be known as Cascadia. I voted to name it "Pacifica" because that sounds cooler, but those asshats insisted that name be reserved for when Hawaii and Guam secede.
(we will be keeping the SSBNs stationed at Bangor, just fyi)
But, I dunno, I average maybe three to five PMs a month... sometimes there's ~10 sent and recieved in a month, sometimes I've had long dry spells spanning months... it varies.
