Things Associated with your City/Town
Just what it souds like. What would people think about when they hear the name of your town? Living, as I do, in what is essentially a bedroom community for state workers and soldiers, the best I have is the band Sleater Kinney, named after a street here. Olympia, of course, has its own beer and type of oyster. So how about everyone else?
Watch out, here comes a Spiderpig!

Well, apparently, the Kennedy's used to take short excursions to near where I live. Other than that though, my town is a hole in the dirt community of no significance whatsoever.

Hmmm..
Fort Collins, Colorado most known for:
- 100+ microbrews (See: College Town) including some nationally known such as Fat Tire Ale (New Belgium Brewing Co: http://www.newbelgium.com/)
- Largest number of Bars/Restaurants per capita in the U.S. (see again: College Town)
- Probably other things I don't know about
Edit:
I forgot: Busch keeps their Clydesdales (and breweries) in Fort Collins
Hmm.. I guess FC is a great place for a lush to live!

Let's see ... Iasi?
Eminescu's limetree (hope I got the species right )
"Al. I. Cuza" University (it's the biggest universitary center in NE Romania (Moldavia)
"Trei Ierarhi" Church
St. Parascheva' remains (in the Metropolitan Cathedral)
That's pretty much I can think about right now.

For the town my family lives:
Former residence of Larry Flynt, Les Wexner, others. Current residence of Governer of Ohio.
For the place I live at the moment, and for most of the rest of the year for that matter:
First co-educational college in the United States, most important multiracial college during the 19th century. Center for Liberal Activism. Birthplace of cheap aluminum processing. "Town that started the civil war." Home of participants in the Harper's Ferry Raid. Major Abolitionist stronghold.

Boise, Idaho. Potatos and Nazis. Sigh.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Am not doing where I live because my town is known for absolutely nothing and I don't want you psychos knowing where I live anyway. But I will do good ol' Baltimore:
crabs/crabcakes (with Old Bay)
low literacy rate
National Aquarium
Camden Yards
Edgar Allen Poe's grave
Syphilis
The Walters Art Gallery
The Babe Ruth museum
appropriately being the setting of "Homicide"
The Cal Ripkens
The world-famous Johns Hopkins Hospital
The perfect-season-winning (2005), NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship winner, the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays!
Apparently there's a museum on dentistry in B-more too, but Lord knows it sure as hay-ell ain't famous.

My hometown of Port Townsend ....
Now known in-state as an artsy little seaside town with a good Wooden Boats Foundation, music festivals almost year-round but known mostly for Jazz Festival and Fiddle Tunes ... home of one of the country's great small publishing houses, Copper Canyon Press ... crowded every weekend from May through October with tourists either 'getting away from it all' or on their way to Canada ... two good marinas and excellent anchorage in the bay for those who pooh-pooh marinas (it was a Clipper Ship destination when Seattle was just a little logging camp).
When I grew up there ... stinky little mill town in the middle of nowhere.

Well, there are bunch of old, abandoned mines that belonged to Thomas Edison way back when, and Babe Ruth once stayed in our town.
More recently, Brad Pitt had a home here, and Jerry Verdorn (a soap opera actor) lives here, but I think he's moving. I think that about covers it.

Oviedo? Chickens and celery. We have wild chickens that live in the town, and used to be the celery capital of the world.

Theme parks, tourism, swamps, cattle rasing and rodeo, a facsimile of the Old West, rednecks, now-extinct Native American tribes, real estate, etc. Lovely, eh? If you go only about 50km north, it's much different.
